Quirky and charming public house in Frome, mainly serving top notch beer, with the addition of pies over the weekend.
I found the whole atmosphere very dull. Asked for a coke and it's served in tiny bottles. Beer taste off maybe teaching the managers how to line clean would be a advantage. Found the garden looked like someone had shopped for cheap car boot sale items. The staff looked miserable just like the decor. Awful.Matt G, I'm sorry that you did not enjoy your visit to The Three Swans, but I would like to provide an explanation with my response.Firstly, branded Coca Cola is only served in 200ml bottles, or alternatively there is the syrup coke from the gun behind the bar. We will always ask if you'd like a pint or a half, and if you'd like ice and lemon. The branded Coca Cola is never served in the bottle unless requested, usually by parents with children who enjoy drinking from the bottle with a straw. Secondly, we take great pride in having good beer and are well-known for it. We clean our lines once a week and are fully aware of how important this is. I'm sorry that you were dissatisfied with your beer, but if you'd have asked for it to have been changed, we would have been more than happy to oblige. Thirdly, myself and my staff always strive to be polite and welcoming. Our good customer service and friendly atmosphere features multiple times in our other reviews, which is another aspect we take great pride in here. We try our best to say a 'hello' to everyone who walks in, unless the pub is too busy or noisy to do so, or if we are already serving. I'm sorry if you do not feel you received this. And finally, the decor is not going to be to everyone's taste, but usually serves as a great conversation starter because of its unique quirkiness. Clearly this was not the case and for this, again, I can only apologise. If you would like to discuss anything further, please do not hesitate to contact me. If not, have a pleasant day. Lucy.

Service is very polite and very reliable, food is great, and the pub has character. Could not ask for a more pleasant last minute, off the cuff visit. Would go there again without hesitation. Parking is plentyful at the rear with a small slope to contend with.

Archangel is well known for its magnificent 3 storey restaurant built into an old hay barn adjacent to the main house. The ancient walls are simply whitewashed and embrace a free-floating glass mezzanine cube that seats up to twelve people around a single
I'm surprised by the relatively low rating of this place, which we absolutely loved. The menu offers a number of options for large meals or small, for all sorts of tastes and inclinations. The veggie plate was so unusual and utterly delicious. My friend's moules were, she said, the best she's ever eaten, and other friends enjoyed the rarebit. We appreciated the privacy of the top floor, all on our own. Will definitely return to the Archangel.

Our walking group had booked lunch here after a local walk - and I think we chose the wettest day of the year! So we were grateful for the friendly staff and their efficient service. Lunch was great value and well presented in pleasant pub surroundings.

Made welcome on arrival, pleased we were told would be a 20 minute wait for food as a large party were being served. Excellent pint of Butcombe and good glass of Sauvignon Blanc (Turtle Bay) whilst we waited. Starters of breaded mushrooms arrived at the promised time and were tasty and enjoyed by both of us. My wife enjoyed scampi, which came with a nice salad, and I enjoyed a BBQ brisket, that by request also came with a salad. Good portions of tasty food at a very reasonable price. Lovely country pub where you always get a good welcome, good beer & tasty food. Look forward to eating here again soon.

Very expensive, nice ambiance, staff is friendly, can get very crowded. Nice if you can get a place in the garden or inside, court yard a bit wobbly on the cobbles and right outside the toilets. Feels a little pretentious.

This place doesn't look particularly appealing from the outside and it isn't great inside either. The front of the pub needs to look more appealing in order to draw customers in and the inside was just a maze of shabby stairs and corridors until you finally reached a rather dull looking bar upstairs. The food here may be excellent but we only tried the beer which wasn't great.

***OPENING HOURS UPDATE*** The Fox is now only open on a Sunday for lunch. We will be holding various events and opening as a takeaway - please check our website for details.
A group of 5 booked a table for a Wednesday evening....7.15pm....walked in on time...stood inside the enterance for a good 5/10 minutes before anyone acknowledged us....not a good start...we eventually got shown to our table.....2 menus were just thrown on the table. !!!!! Between 5 !!! We ordered drinks & food.....arrived in reasonable time, I was told the steaks were good, the chicken, bacon salad I had was ok...Served in a large bowl, meat was not the easiest to cut & think it could have be fresher ! Asked if we wanted desserts, this time 1 menu was thrown on the table, decided we wouldn't bother...paid our bill, splitting it between us...the waitress returned telling us we had not paid enough, told her to add it up again..she then came back to us & said, 'oh sorry her mistake'. I appreciate it was very busy. But this is not good service. More staff was certainly needed...will not be returning...
