Like the Curate's egg it is good in parts. Beautifully placed opposite a mill and stream in a lovely village. Open fires, friendly staff, clean but over priced and understaffed. Good breakfast but an hour's wait because the one person on duty had to take orders do the cooking and man reception.

I visited The Foxglove on Sunday 20th October with my family of 6 adults and 3 children. From our arrival the welcome and service were excellent I really felt we were valued customers. Our server was Sue and she was very helpful, cheerful and accommodating. There was a wide variety of dishes to choose from including vegetarian options which 2 of our party had. The food was served quickly considering the amount of customers and everything was well cooked and hot when it arrived at the table. Sue came to the table during our meal to check that everything was OK and to ask if we needed anything, a practise sadly lacking in many restaurants these days.I have worked in the hospitality industry for over 50 yrs including owning 2 restaurants and I was very surprised at how good The Foxglove is for a âchainâ restaurant. The staff were excellent as was the food and value for money.

Two of our dishes (fajitas and chilli) were accordingly ok.Steak was well and truly overdone but was at least replaced upon challenge of what 'medium' should be.The meat in the Texan burger was straight out of a car park burger van. Definitely not what I'd expect for the price. So disappointed we didn't even risk giving the desserts a chance.

Re-opened under new management on Monday 26th November 2018! Please ignore old website as this is not under the ownership of ourselves. A new website will be coming as soon as we can have the old one taken down.
I visited the Dog and Duck with my husband and this was our first visit back since the place was refurbished and had new owners. Previously under the old management the place had been overly decorated, pretentious, had poor service and my husband had hated the place and didnât have a good word to say about it.........So we went back last night, what a difference, smart, clean and tasteful decor. The service was efficient and staff courteous and polite. The background music was just that, in the background, so we could enjoy the ambiance but still hold a conversation, the lighting was dimmed but bright enough to read the menu and see what we were eating. The food was excellent, good portion sizes, excellent quality and tasteful. I have nothing to criticise, will definitely visit again soon, excellent and worth a visit.

Visited for Sunday lunch today. Under new management. Nice to see reasonably busy. Staff were friendly. Good value carvery. Choice of three tasty meats. Turkey, beef and gammon. Veg was fresh. Could do with a bit more choice of veg. Shame they didn't have all deserts available today. Ice-cream sundaes were nice though. Would return as good value for money carvery.

The Alders is a new Marston's carvery pub restaurant in Ollerton. The name 'Alders' comes from the original spelling of the town - 'Allerton' - which means 'farm among the alders', referring of course to the alder, a tree of the birch family. The pub boas
I went for a business meeting with a colleague and ordered steak lunch. It was at best rubbish. If I was a chef I would be ashamed to have let it out my kitchen. Steak was just OK, peas cold, peppercorn sauce was cold, chip cooked an hour before and same for the onion rings. Who on earth can't cook chips ? Who can't keep peas hot or peppercorn sauce ?thank you for the feedback, we do checkbacks and im 100% sure if we knew you had an issue we would do our best to rectify the problem. there are plenty of senior team members around who you could off spoken to. I will pass your comments on to the team and sorry you had a poor experience this visit

It is a long time ago since Iâve eaten at this restaurant as unfortunately the last time it was poor. On very positive thing the establishment has had a total makeover & it looks great, the menu has vastly improved ( loads of choices ) the service is very friendly, helpful & on point. We all had main courses & desserts & everybody really enjoyed their meals, the presentation was great & the taste matched. We definitely wonât leave it a long time for our next visit.

My husband, my grandson and I ate dinner here recently. The bar was very noisy but we were shown to the back of the pub to eat, which was far quieter. It was a Sunday, so we were able enough to take advantage of both the Sunday lunch menu and the main menu. There was lots of choice. We were all very pleased with our mains and desserts. The wine was expensive, but, overall, it was quite good value. The staff were chatty and the service spot on,Thanks for the kind review!
