We have been coming to Boothbay Harbor for several decades looking forward to our favorite restaurants, lodgings and stores. Last night at Coastal Prime was a major letdown.Paul Coulombe purchased the Rocktide Inn and Restaurant in 2017 and âmodernizedâ it into an upscale venue. He also owns the local golf course which has a restaurant with an almost identical menu and chef.We arrived at our reservation time of 18:00 and were taken to a bay front table. The sun was shining in at that hour so we had the hostess reverse the seating to face inward. We were one of two parties in the main dining room of the restaurant. Those numbers remained consistent until we left at 18:30.We were greeted by our new waitperson Ahisha who appeared to have little training. Before our cocktails arrived a housefly started buzzing our table. I was going to request a table move, but another server came by with a towel and started slapping at the Nana Walls (sliding glass doors) in an attempt to destroy the interloper. Her comment, âI have been chasing that fly for several daysâ. She failed at the execution so we just hoped the beast would take an excursion to the other dinersâ table. He stayed with us until the food arrived. Maybe the fly knew what to expect. We started with the Caesar Salad consisting of Parmesan cheese, romaine, croutons and a creamy Caesar dressing for $17.00 each. If we wanted anchovies there would be an up charge of $3.50 per person. We did. Total salad bill $41.00. The same dish at the golf course restaurant is mixed table side for an extra dollar. We are not dining in a fine restaurant in New York or Paris. For the entree course the wife selected the 6oz Filet swimming in some kind of sauce for $43.00 with a side of Anson Mills Grits. I went with the Buttermilk Fried Chicken. It was served on a white bean tomato ragout, andouille and pancetta. Her steak was properly cooked to a medium rare, but it was served on a cold plate therefore not maintaining a appetizing temperature. The grits were tepid in temperature. My chicken was over cooked and dried out also not served on a heated plate. The ragout was off putting.Rocktide was a favorite restaurant with local Maine tastes. This experience was a disappointment and for only $146.88. I have over 400,000 readers of my TripAdvisor posts. I cannot recommend Coastal Prime and we will not be back. If it is not broken donât fix it.Go to Brownâs a few blocks away for a good meal experience at half the price. We apologize if you left not feeling satisfied, that is never our goal with our guests' experience. We would be happy if you gave us another chance to improve your overall experience and show you all we have to offer as evidenced by our many great reviews. We hope to see you folks again soon.

Service here was slow but we liked our server and we loved the food. I had wood grilled scallops, sooo good! My husband got the peel and eat shrimp, and he was quite pleased. Our oysters came late, after our entrees but we didn't care, they were worth the wait. It was a pleasant laid back meal. Thumbs up!

The Tugboat was terrible. I was expecting much more. The ambiance and service was outstanding but the food was a disapointment. The clam chowder was watery like a cup of milk with hardly any clams. The swordfish was soft and mushy. For the food I do not recommend. For the ambiance l do reccomend. Rating... Fair

We sat on the deck, one of the best harbor views. I had the shrimp dinner and my husband had the warm shrimp roll. Both were excellent. Service started a little slow but was very good.

We have visited Kalers several times over the years and always look forward to a return visit. We stopped by for lunch during a recent stay. We sat at the bar & enjoyed a couple of beers but our food took forever and the mussels arrived. We also had the crab dip which was great. We will visit again as we love the atmosphere and friendly staff- just an off day.

Harborside Tavern's reflects hip sensibility while also paying tribute to Boothbay's storied past. The restaurant offers the choice to observe a gorgeous harbor view on the enclosed deck, as well as a full dining room with table and booth seating.
Great choice for some Maine favorites along with a number of other tasty choices. We enjoyed shrimp and grits with a lovely tomato relish, and salmon over sweet pea risotto. Entire staff is efficient, friendly, seem to enjoy being there. Pretty setting on the harbor.

We were here on a Sunday night. Sat outside on the top deck that overlooks the harbor, beautiful view. The waitstaff was attentive, helpful. We ordered a beer and both of us had the Risotto dish with lobster, scalops and shrimp, the bowl was huge, flavorful and had shaved parmesan reggiano on top, to die for. So big I couldn't finish mine. Cost was what it should be for the seafood dish. We'd go back.

For 3 weeks I had seen their sign for Saturday night buck a shuck oysters. I found out the hard way they run out around 1830. My reservation was for 1845. So I had Calamari instead. It was good but not oysters.@ approximately 1800 the âdollar oystersâ were sold out. 300+ shucked. Consider this a recommendation, come early!
