Have been twice now within a month and not entirely happy with either visit. On both visits it would appear that the staff do not see it as necessary to clean a high chair in between uses (neither time did I need to wait to use a high chair) when a tray was cleaned I still needed to clean it my self with wet wipes (not sure how they got 5 on scores on the doors.First visit we waited a long time for food as they got confused by one member of the party ordering a sharing starter as a main course! Of course they kept it warm on the over head lights for us, very dry food.On our second visit the food was quicker, but my steak could best be described as leather and being as we cleared our own table no one thought to ask us how our main course was, if they had they would have seen I had left most of the steak as it was inedible. After waiting an extortionate amount of time for pudding (we had a four year old that wanted pudding and a hungry mummy that hadnât eaten her steak) I asked the waitress who discovered the order hadnt even been taken to the kitchen! It did come out quickly but was completely tastless. Needless to say we shall not be back, not will we recommend anyone else to go.I am very sorry you didn't enjoy your visit with us. please give me a call at your earliest convenience to discuss this.ThanksSophie

We booked four tables for the night before our daughters wedding, eight to ten people per table, booking a month in advance. Arrived at 19:00 for 19:15.Orders taken quickly, first two tables served starters and mains, we had a one year old with us, asked if she could have her dinner first due to her age, waitress said she could not but we could have some bread for her, after forty five minutes enquired where our food was, as the table behind us had now been served. We were told they were short staffed and the chef had a bad knee! Although we had seen people arrive in other parts to eat who had been fed and left.Eventually the family with the baby left at 21:30, no food for baby but fish and chips put in a pizza box for them. Our food, four duck salads, two fish and chips and one liver eventually arrived at 21:45.When I asked the waitress if the chips I had were their âhand cut chipsâ as advertised she said no, is that a problem? Of course itâs supposed to have hand cut chips. When I said I would speak to the manageress she said âI bet you willâ.We have eaten here on numerous times over the past three years on the run up to the wedding, thatâs why on this special occasion we took forty people here, we made a big mistake.

We were warmly welcomed by the staff, the food was excellent and the ambiance and decor very pleasant. The only criticism was the random menu with limited options and although my husbands beef stew and dumplings was delicious and the beef melt in the mouth, it should come with some potato options, as it was, a dish that was already a bit pricey, needed an extra £4.50 to get a side dish of vegetables to go with it. I can recommend the half roast chicken with lemon and thyme, it was to die for and came with chips and a small side salad so better value. Overall we enjoyed our evening meal experience and would definately go again.

Farley and Peterson is a new concept looking to reinvent the British pub. Reading about the demise of the pub and spotting the gap for more casual and affordable dining in the pub market the founders of F and P set about creating a place they would hang o
We visited to have lunch for a friends birthday, eating from the £6 lunch menu. We like the bar and have been a few times for food. On this occasion the food was nice and in itself was good value, however we were surprised to see we had been charged an additional £1 for each pot of sauce we asked for, which amounted to less than a tablespoon of sauce. Considering how cheap one bottle of sauce is and the fact I have not been to a restaurant that charges for sauce for years, this seems very wrong and meant that actually we paid more than £6 per lunch. If they had told us we would not have had sauce at all, so I feel the staff have been very sneaky and taken advantage of us and possibly other customers.

Situated just off the A34 we dropped in here for an early tea on a Saturday afternoon, it was fairly busy so we had to wait for someone to come and seat us.Once seated the service was very quick, pleasant and efficient, drink orders taken immediately and our main course order taken shortly afterwards. The 8oz steak was very nicely cooked and the paprika chicken was nicely cooked as well.We both had Apple Betty with ice cream for pudding. We were very please with our visit here and will revisit when we are in the area.Keep up the good work Applecart staff!!

Nice old pub/restaurant. Good varied menu. Starters & desserts well portioned although main (pork & Chorizo £19) was small and really needed a side. A sharing starter, 2 mains & sharing dessert (good idea) with 1 pint of beer £60.Nice friendly service.Only down side would be the âEffing & Blindingâ which was very audible from the kitchen/bar staff. Not nice. Oh, probably best to avoid sitting near a door in winter.

Take sanctuary from the street-level bustle and dive in to the flavours of local British cuisine at Oxen Bar & Grill, the all-day neighbourhood brasserie nestled in the Courtyard Oxford South Hotel. With leather snugs, Oxfordshire inspired details, expose
Standard food (although the fish did taste and look like it came frozen from the local supermarket) but highly priced. For what looks like a high class place the food was disappointing and the service wasn't much better (including the waiter laughing when we were actually complaining about the food). It will definitely not be somewhere we visit when we are in the area next. You can get much better food elsewhere for less. Very disappointing experience.Thankyou for your review.. i would like to take this opportunity to apologise that we fell short of your expectations on this occasion.it is only with feedback, good or bad, that we can improve and increase our offering to our valued guests.I would like to gain some more information on your experience here at The Oxen Bar & Grill, as it leaves me with some questions - please email me directly on [email protected], so we can discuss further.Kindest regards and looking forward to hearing from you.Thomas KentFood & Beverage Manager
