Discover Restaurants offering the best Bar food in Derry, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. Derry (/ˈdɛri/), officially Londonderry (/ˈlʌndənˌdɛri/), is the second-largest city in Northern Ireland and the fourth-largest city on the island of Ireland. The name Derry is an anglicisation of the Old Irish name Daire (modern Irish: Doire) meaning "oak grove". In 1613, the city was granted a Royal Charter by King James I and gained the "London" prefix to reflect the funding of its construction by the London guilds. While the city is more usually known colloquially as Derry, Londonderry is also commonly used and remains the legal name.

This place was recommended to us and indeed we were not disappointed the food was fab and plentiful with great value for money. Staff very attentive without being overpowering and efficient service throughout the meal. We had a child with us and he was made very welcome in the restaurant. We would defiantly recommend to others. Not too busy although it was a Thursday evening when we attended.

What a coincidence the man on the street (Paul O'Leary) we were asking directions of for an eatery happened to work in the Dungloe Bar. After teasing him about his recommendation, we went into the Dungloe. Upon further recommendation from a waitress, my wife and I shared the spicy enchilada over a beer and a soda. Food, service, decor, and pricing were all fantastic. We highly recommend this bar/restaurant that has a second floor, a beer garden, entertainment at night, etc. Talk to Paul who'll be more than happy to chat you up.

Had lunch here yesterday while visiting the city. Staff friendly and helpful and lunch was fine. However this establishment is undergoing renovations so only a small dark part of the place is open. Much of the ground floor area and the upstairs is having work done. Hope to return when all the changes have been made.

We've been coming here for several years, the food is always great and the service is spot on. I use trip advisor all the time for restaurant reviews, so I feel like when there is a really good place its only right to contribute and write up a review. We eat here regularly and have never once had a bad meal. Food is always hot and served in time, even if its full up with people. They are also great for hosting parties. We had our engagement party here a year ago and Eoghan, one their top guys, helped us out tremendously! Hes since become a great friend of ours over the last year and always is great craic! Great food, great price and great staff. Go here!

The River Inn, Co Derry, Ireland, Derry city's oldest pub predating the siege of Derry
The positives: the waiting staff were very efficent, polite and helpful. The service was quick. The restaurant was busy and there was a distinct 'buzz' about it on a wet, depressing night outside. The negatives: our meals were disappointing. My husband's fish needed seasoning; he said it was bland, and also overcooked in batter. Mine was no better: pulled pork, which was like a stringy mush, on top of soggy garlic fries, which had no trace of a garlic flavour. The advertised 'tobacco onions' were most unlike any I have ever seen or tasted before. Soft, soggy and limp, and a pale cream colour. [Looked as if they had been micro-waved.] We had looked forward to this dinner, but were disappointed. Maybe it was just a one-off 'bad night' there?

I came here with my family and opted for the chicken Caesar salad with garlic chips. The salad was delicious and freshly made, and the chips were crispy and well seasoned with garlic. My wife went fur the club sandwich, which was too much for her so I enjoyed the other sandwich which again was delicious. The breadcrumbed fried egg was unusual but tasty. The only issue might be the decor is tired but the food and service more than makes up for it.Well recommended.

Busy traditional bar/diner that serves quality food and drinks, at reasonable prices. Staff are always friendly, and extremely knowledgeable of the local area, and always willing to share hints and tips with visitors and locals alike. Have spent some great days in here whilst alone, and some lovely meals with my son. A must go to for me on my regular visits to Derry.
