The food was good not great. My fish was fresh and crispy, but the fries were a little overcooked & coleslaw was soggy.Sorry you weren't totally satisfied. Hope you come back and give us another try! If you aren't 100% happy with your meal please let a manager know, as we are happy to talk to you.

. We usually go to the troy location where the owner and staff are excellant and so very friendly every time we go...but the clawson location was just as good..we went for my sons 21st birthday and the staff did what ever they could to help us with his party. I would highly recommend either location.

They just opened last weekend. It is a converted car repair shop that the new owners have kept as the ambiance.
This is somewhat of a 'trendy' place in Royal Oak. It was crowed when we arrived for a relatively early dinner but no problem getting a table. Service was pretty prompt as well considering the crowd. Pleasant and friendly waitress. GREAT menu with some unusual unique items: I had the duck burger which was fantastic!Atmosphere was unique and interesting: building was a working garage, ie for fixing cars. The only reason I can't rate the place a '5' is the noise level was deafening. Playing music at high volume, it was really impossible to converse with my family. If you don't care for conversation, this is a perfect place!

I went to Griffin Claw last weekend and was so impressed. This is a restaurant with an on-site brewery. The selection of their beers was very good. There were about 20 listed on the menu, including wheat, IPA, lager, pilsner, stout and ciders. I had 2 flights (8 small glasses) and a burger and fries. Some of the beers were outstanding, and a some just OK. The burger was delicious and cooked to order. Seating is Oktoberfest style - lots of large tables and an outdoor section. It was a very relaxed setting. I will definitely return during our next visit to the Detroit area.

Renshaw has been around for years, and I swear this place is always packed! The service is great, the prices are extremely reasonable (food and drink specials every day), the food is good.... you really can't go wrong! Whether you want to play a few games of pool, Keno, or Goldentee, or if you just want to hang out with friends in a chill environment, Renshaw is the way to go.

We dropped in for burgers and beers and weren't disappointed. Many decent craft beers to choose from. With so many choices, I always get the flight so I can try several. The burgers were perfectly cooked and tasty. Service was decent, friendly and knowledgeable. There was a local jazz band playing next door so we got to chill to good music while eating and imbibing.

Grand Openiing was this past Tuesday. Very nice place and up-scale from most breweries in the area.
We like Granite City a lot and dine there at least once every time we vacation in the Detroit area. The comfortable, family-friendly vibe of the place and the dependably good food and service are complimented by a fine selection of beers. (I find it hard to make up my mind, so I usually buy a flight.) I'd like to put in a good word for Granite City's Bavarian pretzel appetizer ($7.99). It's absolutely delicious and plenty big enough to share. Our most recent visit to this restaurant was for the specific purpose of enjoying this treat; we didn't even order an entree. BTW, at busy times the noise level in this place can be annoyingly high for diners who want to chat.

We were in the area on business, staying at a local hotel, and it was about 1000 degrees outside. We usually enjoy finding the local spots, but based on not wanting to drive very far and needing some serious A/C, this was the spot we chose for dinner based on a few reviews. We had made a reservation and were seated promptly, even a few minutes early, I believe. Nice start! I ordered the Southwest Steak Tacos and specifically asked whether the steak was sliced steak (as opposed to simply chunks of well done beef). I was told it was sliced (and mistakenly assumed that it might be prepared less than well done). I was therefore disappointed when it arrived as chunks of well-done stew-like meat. Combined with the salsa, pico, and aioli, it was a drippy mess to eat. I would not have ordered it if the sliced steak question had been answered accurately. My companion ordered the Hand Cut Filet Mignon and requested it cooked to medium. Unfortunately, based on the fact that the cut was very uneven in its thickness, the filet ranged from well done to rare, depending upon where it was cut into. I think for $27.90 for a 7-oz. cut, someone should have been able to prepare a consistently grilled steak.Regarding the service, our server was pleasant, but we felt as if she was attempting to up-sell us on much of what we ordered. We're assuming she had been instructed to do so. Did I want an additional taco? Too many pitches for appetizers while we were perusing the menu. The worst offense was after my companion responded, that "the well vodka is fine," he was still met with a litany of other higher-priced vodka options available, to which he politely declined. When our bill arrived, we had indeed been charged for a higher-priced, not ordered brand of vodka. At this point, we were tired and decided to suck it up and let it go. But, this was compounded by the fact that he was also charged $2.75 for a glass of club soda. Ordering this regularly in other establishments, we had never been charged for this before. It was just club soda from the tap.On the bright side, the highlight of the meal was the fresh, warm bread. Keep in mind that you have to request it - it was not offered, but when it arrived with pats of butter, it was amazing! Definitely have the bread. The meal was okay, the service was okay, but when back in that area, I think we'll seek out a local spot and leave the "chains" to others.

Although burgers are their speciality, they also do a good job with appetizers, drinks and salads. The toppings for burgers are limitless. The fries leave much to be desired, but become passable when eating late and /or while drinking. Servers are fast, efficient and friendly.
