We booked by phone a few weeks in advance for Sunday 15 Sept lunch as we arrived with our boat. On arrival we were told that we did not have a booking - brilliant start! I looked at the book and recognised our mis-spelled name at the top. However, the booking had not been transposed to the daily booking sheet. We then were allocated a table in the crypt and after some delay, we placed our lunch order as our 2 friends arrived and placed their order. Our 2 friends then received their main course and finished it whilst we waited for ours, and waited, and waited, and waited......asking several different staff members for the whereabouts of our meals. We were told, "it's on the way" several times before over an hour went by and no sign of the food. we even went to the kitchen to look for signs of our food! Another customer on an adjacent table even joked that he had enjoyed eating our meal! This cock-up catering and shoddy service really spoiled our day and we were given a refund as we left, still hungry and very disappointed. One member of staff was very apologetic but we were frankly disgusted by the whole experience.Iâm the lady who spoke to you on the day and said sorry for the mix up, but when the service had died down I did speak to the staff and asked what had happened.Firstly a member of your party arrive early and placed their order at the bar, which was promptly served to your table. You then arrive and also place your order. You had two starters & two mains. (The food was always going to come at different times, due to the two couples arriving at different times) Unfortunately when the young waiter cleared youâre plates, he forgot to inform the kitchen he had cleared the starters... a mistake, mistakes happen. I need to address the time you waited for the second course, it was no longer than 20 minutes. Then the original man in the party complained about waiting times, we offered him a refund... (when there was no problem with his food) which you quickly jumped on the back of when I gave you an apology about the service you had received. Your whatâs known in the trade a the âloud complainerâ! This was terrible, this was not on, this was the worst service we have ever received!!! Until I said the meal was on me, and then your were as quite as a mouse!!!Yes you have crap service due to one mistake, but even though the whole restaurant knew about it... the whole restaurant could also see you had clear plates also. YOU DID GET YOUR FOOD!!! You didnât go to the kitchen and asked where your food was at all! Iâm starting to feel like you should be an actress! All in all, you ate, received a free meal, and everyone knew you, and youâre pompous voice!A disgusting & embellished review deserves nothing more than this response.

Visited at Lunch time and ordered off the Lunch Menu. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Sandwich and my Partner ordered the Salmon Fish Cakes. When the Food arrived my Sandwich was a Roll, didnât mind that but which didnât have Caesar Sauce in, instead it was a Garlic Mayo, I hate Garlic and when I questioned the Sauce I was told, that was how the Chefs made their Caesar Sauce! No offer to replace, or change my meal. My Husbands meal should have had Two Fishcakes, but there was only the one. We left and I had to go elsewhere to find decent Food I could eat. I have been here a few times now and I will never return.Hi DianeI'm sorry that you were underwhelmed when you visited us for lunch recently. Being business owner, I find it very frustrating when customers have an experience anything short of 100%. Our Caesar sauce is taken from a classic Caesar recipe. There is garlic in it, as there is in all Caesar recipes, maybe the chef had been a bit heavy-handed with this element, on this ocassion. It also says on the menu that all Express items are âserved in a rustic ciabatta rollâ and it states that the lunchtime salmon and parsley fish cake is a single fish cake.I would be more than happy to offer you and your partner a complimentary lunch. If you wish to take me up on this, just pop me an email: [email protected]

We had been to the cinema nearby and decided to try here afterwards - great choice! We were greeted immediately and introduced to the waitress who was delightful. The smoked pork belly was delicious, as was the sea bass. We both had apple strudel for pud, which was great. Excellent value and we shall certainly be returning!

Traditional brewery tap pub, attached to The Burton Bridge Brewery. We have a skittle alley and a meeting room that are both available to hire, great for parties and team building.
This was a great find on our short trip to Burton upon Trent. Right across from our hotel, the pub is friendly and welcoming and has a great range of ales, some brewed on site I think. The two guys who run the pub are friendly and gave us some really good advice on nearby restaurants. Every are should have a pub like this, thanks.

The Horseshoe Inn is located in the village of Tatenhill near Burton-Upon-Trent. It is a beautiful country pub with an enclosed beer garden and children's play area, making it the perfect family friendly venue. We offer a great food menu with great value
Popped in for drinks only, the beer garden is a good size with climbing frame etc which is good for children.Plenty of covered seating areas with umbrellas, drink costs average with friendly staff, more of your traditional pub with the usual fare for food. But do say hello to the goats and the chickens (and pullets) just roaming about, never seen that in a pub garden before!Worth a visit.

Came to the coppers tavern on the recommendation of a few of my work mates and I was not disappointed! The place is a true gem and not to be missed. The choice of beer is outstanding and the pies and cheese options looked amazing. I must say the staff are truly a credit to the owner. I was served by a lovely Scottish girl that greeted me with a smile and continued to chat with me throughout the night between serving. Will definitely be returning soon for another pint and one of those lovely pork pies!

We were looking for somewhere local but where we had never been before. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly chap who showed us to our table and took our drinks order. We then ordered our breakfast which was a smoked haddock with poached eggs and spinach along with hollandaise sauce, for which I must say was absolutely delicious and super healthy way to start the day. My husband however had the full English breakfast with four slices of granary bread. Also my husband found really tasty. Hopefully be back for breakfast along with trying dinner.Thank you for the excellent service and breakfast!

Popped in yesterday lunchtime as we'd been considering going for a while. We clearly hit a peak time as there was quite a queue to get served. Only one lady behind the bar which seemed insufficient, especially for those on their lunch breaks. It did quieten down later.Ordered the Bridge special pizza and a spaghetti bolognese. Both were excellent, especially the pizza. Perfect. Thin, well cooked base and good quality toppings. Will definately have it again. Beer selection was limited which was a bit disappointing but overall its a good experience. There was a good sized beer garden out the back. My only recommendation would be to review the staff levels at busy times.

The Red Lion is situated just off the A515 and is an ideal venue for all occasions. We are close to St George's Park, Tatenhill Air Field, Trent Raceway, Old Bakers Cottage B&B, Newborough Cottages and Hoar Cross Hall & Spa. We have a lovely bar area with
Location, staff, vibe, food choice, food taste and quality, service all absolutely excellent. And all at a fair price. We were staying at a local hotel where the food was expensive and restricted in choice. The Red Lion restored our smiles! Thank you for the great comments and 5 star rating Tony. I am delighted you had wonderful smiles when visiting the Red Lion, and it's great to hear you enjoyed the great food and wonderful hospitality we offer to all our guests.I do hope if you are staying in the area again that you pay us another visit, and you can be assured of our best attention, and smiles!
