Stumbled on this place while walking downtown Brainerd. Super cool interior, reminds you of a "CHEERS" type bar. Service was exceptional and the soup was FABULOUS. Burger and sandwich were also ordered and were TASTY. Will certainly go back to this gem of a find!

The Emptynesters and one of the fledglings tried Sage on Laurel yesterday as a result of seeing a short article and an ad in the local paper's 'restaurants in the lakes area' publication. The draw was the delicious looking brisket sliders - but we kept in mind that this was picture food, not necessarily 'as served'.We had a late lunch, but the food and the beer selection was as good as the picture. I didn't expect to taste the soup, but Mrs. Emptynesters got the housemade chicken wild rice and offered me a sample. Sage on Laurel's chicken wild rice broth is the best I've ever had - wonderful creamy, slightly herbed (sage perhaps), lightly cheesy(?) soup that had an incredible mouthfeel. The fledging had the french onion soup and enjoyed it.I was a little concerned at first because the beer selection was primarily local brews. My concern was misplaced. I had a Starry-eyed porter and the fledgling had a Fenceline IPA - both delicious and smooth. I'd actually rate them worthy of a local German brewery or a Surly. Our server was excellent and could provide great info on all the menu choices. The food matched the pictures! Delicious and attractive. I had the brisket sliders, with an accommodation as the earlier crowds had eaten all the house-baked pretzel slider buns. Wonderful smoked brisket with a beer cheese sauce. Mrs. Emptynesters had the brisket Reuben - nice marbled rye with flavorful shredded brisket. The hand-cut fries and brisket bean sides were very enjoyable. The decor is arty and the staff welcoming. We'll be going back, especially because the stuffed Bison meatloaf is only served after 4:00 and I can't wait to try it.

We have come here before. Nothing spectacular, however, everything was decent. NOT THIS TIME. Food was JUST like warm and the service was awful. Ever when we were asked how things were and we explained, nothing was offered to rectify the situation. The half hearted apology for cold food didnât even seem genuine, especially since the waitress just walked away.Initially we thought to get a manager, unfortunately that was not the case. She just brought the check early and left.

We come here on and off but after this last visit I'm not sure we'll be going back. We had a table of 7 and our waitress was terrible. When the last of the group arrived she asked the adults what they wanted to drink but totally missed the 9 year old kid. She kept one half of the table refilled on drinks because it was next to the kitchen but forgot about the other end of the table. Now here is why we are not sure that we will ever go back. She dropped off the bill & after she picked up the bill, POOF We never saw her again. We sat there at visited each other because we had family from out of town. Not one time in this hour and half did she check to make sure we need any refills or if we needed anything. This has happened to us PLENTY of times at Black Bear & that's why we don't go there anymore. My husband was even nice enough to give her a 20% tip which she really didn't earn. Other wait staff cleared our table as they walked by & not our waitress. The service was terrible but the food was GREAT!Dear Brenda ,We apologize for your experience at Grizzlyâs Wood-fired Grill & Steaks. This was our first visit to Hassies Saloon & Eatery. We were surprised to see gyro's on the menu. Our waitress assured us they were great. We went with the traditional version. There are several choices. We have spent time in Greece and its islands and have had many gyros. These were the BEST gyros we have had away from Greece. Can't wait to go back and have them again. The menu had other great choices that we might have to order a couple of entrees to try their mac n cheese, looked delicious as it passed by our table, with thumbs up from the dinners.Great gyros!

They need to start by carrying better wines. Flavorless Zin!The bread was cold and DRY. Yuck. The Lobster Bisque was the only thing that made this meal palatable because I put some on The tasteless vegetables. The worst Prime Rib Iâve ever had the misfortune of tasting. Again I canât believe how awful this food was. How does this place get 4+ ???Maybe their lunch is ok. Would NOT recommend for dinner for sure.

Stopped in for dinner after a rainy day of inactivity. We were seated right away, but not long after we arrived, the rush hit. We were lucky to have ordered already. Burgers and cheese curds were good. Service started out good, but they were unprepared for the amount of people that came in after us. We sat for 20 minutes or more just to get our check while lots of people were eyeing up our table wishing we would leave.

Mrs. and I stopped here for lunch on our way home from Alexandria. Very impressed with the atmosphere and the service! We both had the seafood po boy sandwich with fries. We were both impressed with the flavor of the sandwiches, and it seemed to be the perfect amount of fries. Overall, we were very impressed and plan on returning next time we pass through Brainerd!

I was traveling up north with a bunch of former college friends and we met here for lunch before heading over to Crosby for a few nights. It was too cold to sit outside (unbelievable to this Atlanta-based gal!) Our waitress was great and the food was good. I had the Walleye Po' Boy which was okay but really over-fried. I wish we could have visited again and enjoyed the patio!
