Traditional Country Pub Restaurant.
I recently visited with a friend after recommendations from a couple of people. The pub is deceptively big and on entering i didn't realise the size of the restaurant at the back. The restaurant is a nice space, tables set at good distances so you dont feel on top of each other and the lighting was good for the atmosphere.I've got a sweet tooth so chose to have a main and pudding even though i had been told the chicken goujons were a must! For my main i had the Steak and Guinness pie and was not disappointed! It was full of meat, the pastry was nice and there was plenty of veg and mash on the side. My friend had a steak and enjoyed it. For my pudding i chose the chocolate orange cheesecake which i didn't overly enjoy. The flavour was there but I found the base to thick and the cheesecake a funny texture. My friend chose the sticky toffee pudding which she said was a bit dense. When i/we return i/we think i/we will try the recommended starters over a dessert!

The Castle Arms Inn is a traditional yet stylish 17th century country inn situated in the picturesque village of Snape, North Yorkshire. Food is served in both our restaurant and bar areas with alfresco eating during the warmer weather in our sheltered co
Stayed at castlearms inn for 2 nights. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, food was excellent, lunch, evening meal and breakfast. The landlord was very welcoming and friendly. Also girls who made up rooms and served breakfast were also very helpful. Unfortunately we encountered the partner of the landlord. She was very unprofessional, rude and confrontational. We will not return.

We called in here for a drink husband lured by the selection of beers. It was not exactly busy but the service took ages. Finally served my husband came out to say they would bring the drink out. Nothing arrived but a girl passed and asked us if we wanted anything, my husband replied no we were being served before he realised it was the girl who had already took his money. He went back in and she realised she had forgotten the drinks. I had to have still as they had no fizzy water and the girl serving did not seem to realised that some of the Belgium beer have to be poured slow to leave the sediment at the bottom of the bottle so it was a glass with rather a lot of floaters. Think they need a little more training but a nice place to stop and near the train station.Hi I am really sorry about this it shouldn't of happened I have spoken to the staff that was in yesterday and it was a new girl it was her first trail day and she was shadowing the other girl. I can only apologise and hope to see you again soon.

Traditional country pub, overlooking the village green, with open fire and large beer garden. Our menu offers pub classics, along with regularly changing "specials". A good selection of locally brewed real ales and a choice of wines by the glass and bottl
New Years Eve one night in the late 1970s. Strains of Jeff Beck echoing around the small function room. A cheeky shandy for a 16 year old. Hazy disco lights piercing the smoke filled room. Sweaty bodies jumping up and down.Fast forward 40 years and time for Sunday lunch with strains of Play that Funky Music by Wild Cherry (1976) playing through the old wifi a nod to yesteryear. Lots has happened in those intervening decades, but the Buck is beautifully stuck somewhere between 1974 and 1981. Still the same warm welcome. Banter in the bar with the locals. Excellent simple well cooked food. Heaven.Vicky and Tony have just celebrated 5 years in charge and the card from the local cricket club say much about the high esteem they hold V and T and their community minded way of doing business. Excellent. My fish and chips were exceptionally well cooked. Flakey cod. Batter that was crispy with no hint of fat. Mushy peas that passed the test. And great value all served with a smile.A great find, worth the detour off the Masham to Bedale road. Some things in life don't change. The Buck is one constant in a sea of political, social and economic turmoil. An oasis far away from Trump, Boris and Brexit. Go and enjoy life as it should be.I'll be back. Thanks for this great review. I think you have summed up exactly the ambience we strive to achieve here at The Buck, so good to hear that it appears to be working! I will pass on your positive feedback about the food to the kitchen team. Great to hear that you will be back, and thanks for recommending us to others. Rest assured that we will keep things "just the way they are" (to paraphrase Barry White!)

The Woodman Inn is a family run pub in the peaceful village of Burneston near Bedale. A Freehouse since June 2014. Inside is a cosy bar, a 23 cover restaurant and 3 letting bedrooms. Serving good local ales, fine wines and quality food using locally sourc
We have just had an overnight stay here. The food was average. The staff were friendly. The room was a chalet style at the back of the hotel which was very well appointed, spacious, roomy and beautifully clean. But............whether the owners have been in the litigation industry previously I found the warnings to guests very off putting. Inside the guest book in the room there were numerous warning about the owners not being responsible for this that and the other and if any form of damage was found our credit cards would be debited. In fact on the back page of the book was an A4 sheet quoting a section of the Hoteliers charter section on non-responsibility! Very welcoming. But the worst was in the pub itself there was a notice advising CCTV in operation. They were not wrong as there appeared to be cameras everywhere which are a bit disconcerting whilst eating your meal with one pointing straight at you. I wouldn't mind but it was Saturday evening and there were only two people in the bar and about a dozen of us dining! As the pub is in a quiet village with no bus service it makes you wonder what clientele frequent the place.

We visited here with friends and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had a warm and friendly welcome from the Landlord and staff, and enjoyed the pensioners meals which were really tasty, with ample portions, and very good value for money. Service was prompt and, overall, there was a really pleasant atmosphere about the place. A good selection of beers, wines and spirits made for a really good experience.Thoroughly recommended.

We revisited this pub when staying nearby because we so enjoyed the food the last time we visited the area. We were not disappointed this time either.

Called for a takeaway last night having been recommended by friends. A friendly greeting was had, the staff were extremely helpful and explained the dishes we had chosen in great detail. Whilst waiting for our meals Ali went on to explain about their family run business , it was obvious he is passionate about this restaurant, our food arrived after about 20mins wait.To say we both enjoyed our meals would be a understatement... they were faultless.Indian food is all about personal choice and taste,I would highly recommend anyone to try this restaurant, needless to say we will be back.

We returned here this Sunday, just over twelve months after our last visit, and it is still most excellent indeed. We had a roast beef, chicken and a pork, after a bit of a hiccup with one of the meals, which was addressed most professionally, we enjoyed an exceptional meal. Two of us managed a treacle tart and custard and apple and blackberry pie with custard for dessert, and delicious they were too.The hospitality here is well worth a mention as it is second to none.Highly recommended.
