Sorry we are closed for a short holiday. We re-open on Wed 12th June '19. Rumoured to be the oldest pub in Devon, open fires, dogs and families welcome. It's best to book if you can for Friday, Saturday and Sunday's as the weekend dining is popular.
Lovely to be back at the Stag, a really good refurb. Had dinner one night and a sunday lunch another. Both good. Interesting gins, and some interesting liqueurs. Would like to see some more local ales on pumps, and need a someone behind the bar more and waiting staff who keep you going in drinks, as we would all have liked more top ups.

Lowtrow Cross Inn, a family-run traditional country pub and B&B, is on the edge of the beautiful Exmoor National Park in the village of Upton in Somerset. Here you (and your well-behaved dog) will find a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere. We serve lo
This establishment was recommended by someone on the caravan site next door.I was so hungary as my husband and I had been out on a long walk. I was excited to order the vegetable lasagne (a favourite of mine) what I got was no more than a broccoli lasagne? No other vegetables? It was served with chips that were okish and a salad that literally looked like someone had vomitted on my plate!! Being new to the area and so hungary, I ate a large portion of the lasagne but left some due to the copious amount of broccoli, my husband helped me with the chips but there was no way I was going to attempt to eat the vomit salad. There was a very loud, inconsiderate welsh man at the bar who failed miserably in any type of educated English/Welsh language or at having any respect of others and consistently used FOUL language in his conversation, at NO point did the bar staff encourage him to stop using such disgusting language. I am only glad there were no young children around, VERY OFF PUTING for other diners. My husband and I were so relieved when he finally left, we also left just after eating as there was NO way I would consider having a dessert there.I got a mediocre apology from the bar lady but NO offer of recompense. This was by far the WORST experience/meal I have EVER had eating out and I will NEVER return here.

We are a family run business offering a great atmosphere and home-cooked locally sourced food. Old school american style food, everything cooked from scratch by our experienced chefs - Ranging from Beastie Burgers to succulent steaks and also some classic
Great ambience. Great food. Great staff. What more could you want. They have special nights (quiz night, Cuban night, bands, buy one get one half price etc.etc.) I would recommend this venue to anyone wanting a good night out. Word of warning, it's best to book in advance they get very busy and you wouldn't want to be disappointed by not getting a table.

Country pub. All our food is homemade using local produce where ever possible. We have a childrens menu and welcome dogs in the bar area on a lead. Some of our rooms are dog friendly as well. Lunch and dinner reservations are recomended although not alway
We were staying nearby and took a stroll down the hill to this pub. Greeted very nicely by a lovely lady behind the bar and ordered two pints of cider. We were sitting outside and the lady told me to take a seat and she would bring the drinks out. I told here there was no need as it was only two pints but she insisted saying that I was the guest and she was there to provide service. This was a really nice touch and did set me back a bit. The cider was Taunton Cider and tasted fantastic on a lovely summers evening. Nice area outside to sit with the dogs and I believe the food here is very good. There were a few tables inside eating but we didn't need too.

We weren't expecting much from such a rurally located pub as they have a captive audience but we were pleasantly surprised. The landlady was very friendly and helpful and the food was wonderful. The salmon rilette and chicken parfait starters were both delicious. My partner very much enjoyed his meal, my lamb livers and bacon was a massive portion and liver maybe slightly overdone but still delicious. We would definitely return if we were in the area.

We visited the Exeter Inn after it was recommended. There were 3 of us, and we all had different main meals. We shared salt and pepper squid to start. For our mains we had:SeabassBeetroot risottoWild mushroom linguineWithout exception, all the food was delicious and very nicely presented. We were all extremely full, but managed desserts of lemon posset and vanilla rice pudding. The ambiance was lovely, and service was excellent.Apparently it has recently been refurbished. The decor is very nice.

A great pub with friendly staff & welcoming landlord. The food was home cooked, really tasty and arrived really quickly. A really good selection of food on the menu too. Good food, good beer, great customer service and a relaxing environment. Will visit again if we are in the area.

We are a local community pub, with pool table and darts board, we have a good selection of Ales , Beers , Cider , wines and spirits. Our food offer is very different to what is on offer locally, we offer slow smoked pork ribs, beef short ribs, good steaks
The Landlord reopened his kitchen on a Sunday evening just for us and cooked a delicious roast beef dinner. Good beer from St Austell and cider from s local farm. Think this is the Bampton locals pub and we were pleased to be part of it.

Had a really lovely family meal including lovely home made gluten free pizza. It was busy in the pub but we were made very welcome and didnât have to wait long. Had the most amazing ploughmanâs with scotch eggs and balsamic onions. Would thoroughly recommend and will definitely go back when in the area. Good choice at reasonable prices. Lovely outside seating area.
