I found this pub/restaurant totally by accident. I had been travelling, with my two dogs, in a camper van along Cork's lovely coastline when I ran out of gas - including the spare - on a Saturday evening! A response to a frantic call for help directed me to Cork Gas, which is on Forge Hill Road, near Cork Airport, so I made my way there on Sunday so that I wouldn't be searching for it during rush hour on Monday morning. When I spotted the Bull McCabe's across the junction on the Cork airport road I decided to go there for dinner as I couldn't cook in the camper without gas. I also asked if it was possible that I could park up in their car park for the night so that I could get my gas first thing Monday. Let me be clear - this pub/restaurant does not allow camper vans to park there, as I discovered the following morning. But, because I was a woman driving solo, with two dogs, they allowed me to stay the night, gratis and graciously. I'm vegetarian and asked if I could have a veggie pizza and take it out to the van to eat. I got the best pizza I think I have ever eaten in my life - and possibly the biggest too! It was piled high with all sorts of colourful and delicious toppings, and, at just 11 euro, was so big that I couldn't eat breakfast or lunch the following day. And it was piping hot... Earlier, clients as well as staff had responded to my query as to where I could take the dogs for a good run with advice and directions to Blackrock Castle. It was good advice. The following morning, one of the extremely kind staff brought me out the black coffee (all I could manage after the pizza) so that I could drink it outside with my dogs - on leads, of course - beside me. They say food prepared with love and kindness tastes better. I suspect that the cooking skill that went into preparing that pizza would have tasted delicious no matter what - but the kindness I received there certainly added a very special flavour to it all. Again, I repeat, this pub does not allow camper vans to stay over: they were simply responding with kindness to a bit of an emergency. But, if you're driving a car, and you want delicious food, served in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, I couldn't recommend this pub more highly. Thanks, Bull McCabes - you do Cork proud!

There is outdoor seating as well as you continue back which is lovely on a good day. The Margareta Pizza was delicious and was made with fresh dough. Selection of beer and whisky is quite impressive.

(we had wings starter, prawn chilli pil pil, trout main and thai curry) - all very tasty. overall with a drink each we paid just over €70 - so a tad expensive for bar food.

As a return visitor my fondness for the Bodega is largely fuelled by nostalgia, for when it first opened in the 1990s it was well ahead of its time in combining sophistication and comfort with a large open plan layout in a beautiful refurbished building - a formula which has since been applied in numerous other locations. The Bodega has not lost its appeal, and upstairs provides a tasteful separate space for private functions.

Had lunch here today as we often do. There was my mother, sister and myself. We joined the que and as I paid I ordered a takeaway meal for my father and paid for it. Had our meal which was lovely and on leaving my sister asked one of the staff could they get the takeaway beef to be told she would have to join the que again which was very long as it was mother's day. So I told her ask the girl at the payment desk who is up near the chef would he put the beef dinner in the container that they store right next to them as we were in a hurry as she had to return to work. The girl came back and said we cannot interrupt the chef. Now this is a man putting dinners on a plate not performing heart surgery. My mother saw the owner and went down to ask him could he get it. Now if this is the procedure that you have to que up again fair enough but tell me when I am ordering it or else have a notice up to this effect. What annoyed me was the attitude of the owner all he had to say was look this is our procedure but let me get it for you this time as you weren't aware of it but in future you have to que up again. No he goes mmm ok let me see hesitantly as I tried to explain the situation and goes off and arrives back a long time later with said dinner. If you are the owner you run the show not your tempremental chef. As an owner his customer skills are ridiculous first of all you apologize and do your best to placate the customer all he had to say was look let me get it for you, go into the chef and say Can you plate it up for me? I know they are annoying but they didn't know they had que again. No he comes back hands it over and when I said we were annoyed that the chef was so disagreeable he shrugs and says you got it didn't you . He tells me to calm down even though I was perfectly calm I was just trying to explain my frustration so then I was no longer annoyed at having to join the que but his patronising attitude. He goes around the place all smiles but his customer skills are zero. When I said we wouldn't be back which is a shame as we are local and frequent the place often and the food is lovely and the staff are normally lovely. On principal I would not hand over another penny there which is a shame.Rant over lol

Hi I recently called to Tradehouse for dinner on evening of great family trip. I ordered chicken, mash and milk for my daughter. I ordered a burger and my husband got fish and chips. We ordered approx 540 and by 625 we still had no food...not even our daughters milk. We asked where food was to be told hers was ready but burger was to take another 10 min. A nearby table had come in after us but had received their food by now. We couldn't understand how anyone would let a toddler wait so long for food , we cancelled our order but asked to bring our little girls straight away also had to ask agaib for her milk. Who makes a small child wait so long? We asked to speak to the manager who was so dismissive and just said that's how long burgers take. He was in no way bothered we had spend almost an hour there and left with no food. To add insult to injury he left two complimentary drinks vouchers with our bill. Totally ruined a lovely day trip and left a sour...and hungry taste in my mouth.

We recently visited here with our family who live close by. It was late afternoon and we had just traveled 2 hours. I didn’t want a big meal so I asked could I get a double portion of the pasta that was on the children’s menu. I didn’t ask for any part of the menu to be changed. Just a double portion. The answer was “No”. That was it. I said ok I’ll have the child portion so. A small portion of pasta (not fresh pasta) 3 tiny pieces of chicken topped with a spoonful of red sauce, completely cold. When my husband went to pay the manager he told him what happened. His reply was “We don’t change our menu for customers”. He couldn’t have been any more rude. While I was standing there beside my husband he actually said he’s “she’s a picky eater”. This restaurant has had awards in the past, I think they are well out of date by now. The food is in general is average and the pub is not exactly spotless and is out dated. Couldn’t recommend it.The children’s menu is for children only. The pasta’s not fresh pasta as you stated but it’s there for children who don’t want anything else on offer. A stop gap if you will. Not our specialty in the least. We simply don’t have the time, nor the inclination. Everything else we do though is made from scratch. Let’s just say pasta’s not exactly coursing through our veins. Moreover we keep the salt content down to an absolute minimum for children so the dishes are not suited to an adult palate.Perhaps all this was lost in translation. I will most definitely be addressing the front of house team with this complaint. Though I’m having difficulty understanding why you insisted on eating a child’s pasta dinner when there’s such a range of choice on the main menu. There’s certainly no such thing as a flat “No.” here. And nobody said, ”We don’t change our menus for our customers.” We simply do not possess the Gallic flair to pull that one off. Honestly I’d give it a go, but it be would just hilarious. Furthermore my brother Richie, to whom your husband was speaking, assures me that he did not refer to you as “a picky eater.” It was in fact your husband who said this. We will continue to bend over backwards for anybody with special requirements or needs, no matter how unusual. For instance one of our chefs is busy right now preparing a vegetarian pie with a side of sausages (all sausagetarians welcome by the way). Some vegans came in unannounced a few weeks ago in the middle of a crazy Saturday service and we were only too delighted to put a few dishes together for them. People often come in looking for half portions and we’re more than happy to oblige where possible. Honestly nothing is too much trouble. We certainly do our level best to please. There’s no harder working, more dedicated kitchen team out there. We’re never happy to stand still. We are only too aware that we’re only as good as our last meal served. Nobody’s resting on any laurels out here. And there’s certainly no screaming prima donnas. Believe you me my mother would clip them around the ear! We’ve got too many small mouths to feed. I’ve got three rapscallions myself. They love their food by the way. They’ve a particular fondness for shellfish. Costing me a fortune! Our kids menu doesn’t quite cut it for them. In fact the more adventurous children out there often stray on to the adults menu. Nothing more satisfying than seeing a child tuck into a bowl of our delicious mussels, or go for one of our goat cheese, smoked salmon & creamed leek tartlets (incidentally, my favourite in betweeny snack and dinner item). In short we’re striving every single day to build something that we want to hand down to our next generation (God, help them!). And please don’t be afraid to present us with any special requests or requirements. We will always endeavour to please. I just honestly wouldn’t go for the pasta.

We had dessert and drinks here while in Blarney. They are very busy so it took a long time for the servers to come to our table and they rarely checked on us, even by Irish standards. The desserts were ok and drinks were good. At the end we asked for water. My sister took a few sips and then realized that there was bright pink lipstick marks on the glass... she does not wear lipstick. Thankfully this was at the end and we had already eaten our food or else we may not have been able to stomach it. You have to go up to the bar to pay; they do not give you a receipt/ticket to take up there. Not took many choices in Blarney to eat.Dear Ashlee, I was shocked and dismayed upon reading your review, and I would like to apologise unreservedly, we obviously did not reach our usual high standards on this occasion. Thank you for bringing this matter to my attention, I can assure you that I have made all our staff and management aware of your complaint.SincerelyRuth O Connor
