An 18th century grade II listed Georgian coaching inn nestled in the north Wiltshire downs, serving British modern classics in a relaxed atmosphere.
We went in last week ... We thought we would play it safe and only order a small glass of wine, a beer, and bowl of chips ... Yes.... just a bowl of chips ... firstly we were told that there would be half and hour wait ( yes just for chips ) .. then we were served our drinks in dirty glasses, and shown to sit at a table that hadnât be cleaned in 3 years ...Then to add insult to injury , they wanted £16.00 for just one bowl of chips , small red wine and one beer . Also to add,the chips had been microwaved and were disgusting. The pot of mayonnaise, looked like something I would not like to describe. Why canât these local pubs/restaurants offer clean fresh food and create an atmosphere??? The landlord should go back to doing what he does best ( working on the dustcart ) Appalling beyond belief. Big tip ... Swerve this place, carry on down into Calne and go to the Devine Cafe .The price you have quoted in your review is incorrect. If you can come back with a receipt proving this to be case I will happily refund the difference

Country Pub situated in Wiltshire, between Devizes & Marlborough. Caravan & Motorhome club Certified location site in the field behind the pub for members only.
Find this place its amazing. Do not pass!! We were on a boat on the Kennet & Avon canal, moored by bridge 128. We had the most amazing evening meal on Wednesday night then went back Thursday, after a few miles boating, for lunch. The food is outstanding & the staff who served us were exceptional, top notch. The photos on the walls of The Concerts at The Kings were awesome! Worth a visit to see those alone (do buy at drink tho, then a meal, then go back again lol) We live an hour plus away, but will definitely go back just to have that tuna dish again. Thanks soooooo much!!

A traditional privately owned Inn, based in the stunning village of Broad Hinton, close to Avebury & Marlborough. A vast menu offering something for everybody. Extensive wine & gin lists, and fantastic beer. Located just off the Marlborough downs, a great
Weâve visited The Barbury many times over the past years; while the owners - and philosophy - remain the same, some of the team have changed recently. We love the format of being able to have a selection of tapas type dishes, followed by a âBritishâ main course. On Friday, I enjoyed the best ham, egg & chips Iâve ever eaten; weâve now booked to bring our family during their Xmas break with us.

Silks On The Downs is best described as a friendly & homely ' Gastro Pub '. Our menus change regularly and we source locally from the fantastic produce available around us. We are located in Ogbourne St Andrew, one mile outside the beautiful market town o

A family run, traditional 18th Century English pub just outside Marlborough, Wiltshire. Smart outside terrace with large heated 'Jumbrella' and large garden with fantastic children's play area. Family & dog friendly. Under new management as of September 2
We booked for a 12 o'clock sitting as the pub was a half way point between us near Andover and our friends near Burford! On arriving at the postcode we got from your website, we found the pub closed! Confused we rang you, only to be told that the pub had been taken over by the owners of The Outside Chance in Manton (nearby) - we were not impressed, but were well looked after by the guys at The Outside Chance, who smithed the problem with some free yummy puddings. I suggest you post something on your website?????? Not difficult to save a red face.Hi, thought I'd post a response to this to inform anyone reading it; The Who'd A Thought It is now under new management as of Sept '19, and will be open again within the next couple of weeks all being well!- Vard.

Cosy country free house pub using locally sourced & seasonal ingredients for delicious pub meals all set in the beautiful Wiltshire Countryside.
Stayed here for two nights and enjoyed our visit. We ate at their restaurant and the food overall was excellent. The rooms were very nice with some overlooking the pasture at the back with the sheep and pigs. The bar closes at 10.00 each night so no noise after that. Lovely breakfast.

Warm welcoming village pub. Happy to accommodate paws and hooves. Serving a variety of food from traditional pub classics like fish and chips and a crown burger to more adventurous options on our specials board, including vegetarian and vegan options. Run
Rather disappointing Sunday Lunch, was excited reading previous reviews so decided to pop in for lunch. The very enthusiastic staff was a good start, but to be honest the food was not great. Small portions of meat, cut with a blunt knife. Yorkshire Puddings amazing! But potatoes clearly overcooked and dry, cauliflower cheese very dry, parsnips nicely browned but very underdone, red cabbage ok, carrots ok, stuff balls like bullets and gravy tasteless.......Very disappointing indeed....

The Red Lion is set in the tiny village of Avebury which is three miles in radius and some 2000 years older than Stonehenge! Refurbished Winter 2013 the pub is 400 years old and located at the centre of the stone circle where every six weeks a pagan festi

A quintessentially British public house, serving local ale, and home cooked food. We have stunning views of Silbury hill, and we are walking distance from the Avebury stones, making us a perfect resting point to take in this glorious countryside.
We really enjoyed our lunch here while visiting Avebury Stone circle. Elaine and all the staff were extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome. I have been a vegetarian all my life and very much appreciated the inventive quinoa salad with perfectly ripe avocado, fresh veggies and pomegranates. It was not soaked in dressing as so many salads - the ingredients were tasty and fresh. My travel companion had mushroom soup and Haloumi fries...... also fresh and lovely.Hi Deirdreit was lovely to have you and your friend visit on Monday. I am delighted that you enjoyed everything and that the service was spot on.We hope to see you again soon.Jamie
