Luckily we were sightseeing through northern Devon while a Sunday Roast Beef Carvery was being served at the Thatched Inn. This is a beautiful pub, and busy, with many families enjoying the Carvery. The roast beef was mouth-watering good, there was a nice variety of tasty vegetables, and the Yorkshire Puddings were huge. I'm afraid we ate so much we didnât have room for dessert. If you are near Abbotsham on Sunday, check out the Thatched Inn, you won't be disappointed.

Lovely food and atmosphere with amazing service We had a lovely lunch here but what a nightmare of a place to get to. If I said the roads were single lane would be an exaggeration but well worth the adventure, do try to avoid using the road and meeting a bus or pedestrians. We had four different meals and they were all good.Wine was slightly pricey but overall a very enjoyable experience and its dog friendlyThank you so much for your wonderful 5* review, we are so delighted you all enjoyed your lunch here at The Pig. The Devon roads can be an experience if you're not used to them! But as you say we are well worth the adventure So pleased you persevered and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Best wishes Susan

Walk ins for an early dinner. Nice welcome, warm restaurant on a cool night. Drinks came straightaway. Orders taken directly after, and food came promptly. Our selections were clearly fresh cooked and the stir fry veg on my Asian pork were delicious. Desserts came on a huge dessert trolley, and these too were excellent. We'd go back in an instant: if we could stand after so much good food.

Very impressed with the friendly greeting, great atmosphere and excellent food. We all thought it was great and will certainly go back again soon. However we did have to wait a fair time for our food but it is obviously cooked fresh so is that a bad thing?

Beach-bar and restaurant, blessed with one of the best views in North Devon. Serving fresh fish, pub classics and seasonally inspired dishes prepared by our creative kitchen team.
We were looking for a place to meet up with friends we hadn't seen in years and struggled to find anything in Bideford until someone recommended The Boathouse. We have walked past several times but has always looked busy. On the night itself it was busy but very comfortable, the staff were helpful but not intrusive and the food was the best we have eaten in a LONG time! We will definitely be visiting again when we have more visitors.Hi JoeMany thanks for your fabulous review of our place here in Instow- the kind words about our food and service are very much appreciated.Yours, with thanks againBrendan and The Crew

Found this place on Trip Advisor and loved it. Beautiful setting and presented to a very high standard inside and out.Staff were lovely, great choice of food, good value and well kept beers. We all enjoyed our meals though servings are big so good job we didnât go for starters, only one of us could fit in pudding and the sorbet was lovely. Will definitely be back when in the area again. And very dog friendly!

Quayside Inn with bar, restaurant and 17 letting rooms. Lovely views across the Torridge estuary towards Instow, outside seating and small car park, situated in Appledore, a lovely quaint fishing village in the heart of North Devon.
We stopped at their Quay location in a first floor suite. The room was first class and comfortable. The breakfasts were very good with lots of choice each day. Most of the staff were really helpful. Compared with last year we thought the dinner menu was not quite as good with a lack of specials especially fish. Room prices have now increased but we still thought it was good value and well located in Book Festival week.Thank you for taking the time to leave us a great review Dave, I'm delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay in one of our fantastic Quay suites. Although our menu is slightly smaller we still aim to offer food of a high standard, using quality locally sourced ingredients and suppliers. Please visit our website to view our 'winter breaks' deal available from Oct 28th-March 31st.We hope to see you again,Kind regardsChelsea

Having not been before we wanted to try their Sunday roast. We sat upstairs in the window seat on a sunny afternoon which was picture perfect. The Lamb and Vegetarian roast was superb and one of the best weâve ever eaten. The staff were helpful and efficient and we enjoyed the whole experience - highly recommended.

We go to the beaver on a regular basis as we are lucky to have a house in the village. Have not written a review for a few years now so time for an update. Itâs a great local with friendly staff with always a good atmosphere. The food has been fantastic on our last few visits and it is always consistently good. The skate wing and blackened salmon with noodles we had last night was top notch.
