On a very cold day, snowing in fact we ended up at the Sassafras Tavern for lunch. We walked in a bit early but immediately the owner welcomed us very warmly. We ordered Pumpkin Soup, Arancini and Mushroom Risotto. The pumpkin soup was home made and one of those soups you will remember for a very long time, it was absolutely perfect. The arancini and risotto again all home made and absolutely delicious. I want to mention my young waiter, he was the son of the owner, approx. 18 years old and what a switched on person to have both waiting on tables and behind the bar, this kid has a very bright future and his parents should be extra proud of him. Overall we will be back, this restaurant is about an hour away but worth the travel, the home made food and impeccable service was fantastic, thank you, Dave & Eva

My 1st visit was for the Xmas in July, very busy with great food, service and atmosphere. We were a large group and had a great time.Last night it was dinner with my husband. The place was packed, as usual, so booking is a good idea. Same friendly staff and very casual, cheerful vibe about the place. However, the meals, particularly the very good parmas, are HUGE! It is good pub food, and there is a good selection of beers on tap. A nice cosy place for dinner on a winters evening.

A warm and comfortable cafe/restaurant. With an open fireplace and candlelit tables plus a lovely sunny courtyard for the warmer months. Dudley's serves a delicious breakfast selection 7 days a week, and is also open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week. Gl
The blackboard outside offers Devonshire tea for two for $16. We received two huge homemade scones with whipped cream and homemade jam to die for. However the Coffee was barely warm even though we asked for it hot, but the owner happily replaced it. We also couldnt eat all the scones and took some home. We didnt realise that this was two teas and were charged $34 for it. So be sure to ask for one between two or you will be charged double.

Went for luch on a very cold foggy day. Just wonderful all little seperate rooms and gas fire heated so very cosy on a winters day.The menu is very extensive so the selection is really good if you love great food. We chose the eggs with tomato on sourdough plus the vegetarian quiche with chips and salad with an Earl Grey Tea plus a Chai Tea with milk and honey. The meals were very generous. Lovely and fresh and hot on a cold day. The service was extremely friendly and attentive without being over the top and rushed.Parking is easy on the mainroad or carpark behind and the gardens are beautiful all around the house.Would be nice to walk or to sit in on a sunny day. Huge chess set in the gardens as well to play with amongst pretty foyntains and pondsWinter or Summer its truly worth a visit even just for a coffee. Total bill was $47 so good value.Really enjoyed our visit

Coonara Springs is an iconic hills restaurant with a rich heritage and a modern approach. Our seasonally inspired menu is influenced by our own vegetable plots and our contemporary cuisine is created around respect for locally grown and sourced ingredient
We lunched there today - the first day of a new autumn/ winter menu. A great choice of dishes - presented particularly well for sharing - all excellently prepared and presented. The service was equal to anything weâd expect from a top restaurant. A good choice of wines.Outstanding views over the gardens and the Dandenongs from the dining room. This place combines a taste of the Dandenongs of old with excellent food and service. We will definitely be back.

This restaurant looks deceivingly bland from the outside, operating within an good-looking church. However, the food is absolutely delicious!! Modern dishes, made with fresh ingredients. I tried the trio dip, & the vegetarian salad- wow! Every mouthful was amazing Definitely recommend

Came across this place looking for somewhere to brunch .. originally we set sail for sassafras but drove 3 minutes uphill to Olinda ..The little village is sooooo cute .. donât miss out but a visit to this cafe is imperative .. Service was a bit rushed with the staff trying to please too many at once however the Chef was cool and calm when we presented him with food issues for four! Great job! Tasty food and good prices in a gorgeous mountain setting ! Wonderful end to a great Melbourne visit !Oh, and donât forget to try the potato pancakes and great chicken salad ! Tasty as ...

Delightful English Glass Conservatory Style Building at one end of Sassafras Village that did a roast that I really appreciated!
We came for a light lunch. It was empty when we arrived and packed by the time we left. The staff were so accommodating and food and drinks were great. Our son fell asleep and slept in the pram they were so happy for us to sit and wait for him to wake weâre not fussed with us and made us feel so comfortable. We have been before and will definitely return.

My husband and I booked lunch here as a bit of a âdate dayâ, and were incredibly impressed! Firstly we lucked into snow in Olinda - which made the inviting flickering torches outside and warm open fire inside even more appreciated. From the moment we stroked inside, the service was faultless. Warm, friendly and professional at all times. And our meals - just divine! I opted for the parsnip soup for entree - beautiful and velvety and warming, perfect on a cold winters day! Mains we had the fish of the day (salmon) and the duck breast. Both cooked to perfection and oh so tasty! The menu is also heaven for a gluten intolerant diner like me. It was our first time...but we will be repeat customers for sure!
