Things to do in Mount Buller
We came here for lunch in the middle of a day of skiing and I had a burger it was amazing. Every one who wants a good lunch should go here lots of options for everyone. Over all it is a amazing place to eat.
Whilst I have had the pleasure to enjoy some fantastic meals and the Carbonara at Tirol is great. But if you have been skiing / boarding at Mt Buller and if it was a "Rare Mt Buller" day that was a bit misty and windy, it must must be time for a guilty pleasure of "Chips n gravy". Fresh Hot cooked for each order magnificent with a soft drink, beer or even a coffee (Mrs Love the Kimberley likes the coffee).Let us be serious you do not even need to ski/board to Tirol you can catch the village shuttle to the Arlberg and walk upto Tirol. Also do not take your kids they will take but not eat the still crispy chips but with lots thick gravy. The kids can have wedges!
No trip to Mt Buller is complete without a visit to Koflers Huette. My only question or concern when I ordered my Lasagne was was I offered a Vegetarian Lasagne. Really the world has gone mad vegetarian lasagne!!! sorry have the traditional Meat with of course extra cheese, just a pity you cannot get chunky chips. It is grouse
Visited ABOM on their steak night and was really happy with it. Service was of a high quality and the food was great! The price was fantastic, especially for Buller prices, and the restaurant filled up soon after we arrived. Kitchen had a great variety of food too (if you're not interested in their specials). Would recommend to others at Buller

I ate at the Whitt in 2016, the staff were lovely and the food was delicious and came in large servings. With the unfortunate seasonal changing of the guard, the Whitt is not the same restuarant in 2017 that it was 12 months ago. The meals whilst still nice were a lot smaller in servings, the brownie we ordered for dessert was so dry it was almost dusty, and the small melon ball sized serving of icecream that came with it was not enough to choke it down. The waitress seemed to be having a bad day, if she wasn't I would consider her just plain rude, but I would like to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Mt Buller's new home for quality, Black Cockatoo is a raw mix of copper, leather, steel and charcoal paired with amazing views of Mt Stirling. The kitchen serves an intricate celebration of Australian produce. Expect to see local trout & caviar, rare bree
The granduour of this one fabulous restaurant complete with Grand Piano suptious menu rich in tradition of The High Country of Victoria and a wine list to match is now gone... cold harsh decorI come to dine with my partner and have great conversation, what I dislike is being hounded by staff to order when we donât even have our drinks, second round was a ridiculously long wait. Entrees arrived dumplings great, wings substandard dry and lacked flavour. Why we were approached twice while eating an entree is a bit annoying. We are here to enjoy a dinner here together not to give you approval of the food mid service. We were asked again when plates were cleared, in my opinion thatâs the one and only time you should interrupt a diner. We never ordered our Main Courses and left. Disappointed wonât go back!

Our multi family group of 15 people including 6 kids all enjoyed the excellent quality of the meals served in this restaurant for dinner. My Chicken Ballantine with a side of vegetables was delicious. The kids all enjoyed their kids sized meals at reasonable prices. Contemporary alpine architecture with a gas log fire provided a warm ambience. It's not cheap but it's worth it and that's what you expect for fine quality ski resort dining.

Snow Pony was actually not on the same route as our hotel but since we were famished, we took the bus to this restaurant - the pork belly, prawn and the risotto dishes that we ordered were good... but since it was quite late and we had to rush for the last bus service, we didn't have enough time to explore around

Kaptans rarely disappoints and hasnât this trip having had dinner twice in a weeks stay at Mt Buller this year. Service is warm and friendly and the quality of food is really great. Didnât get to have Hans the owner join our table this year for a chat and some schnapps during the evening as heâs been unwell but his spirit well and truly still there.
