Sunday afternoon and lunch on the lawn, a full house with kids and dogs included and everyone having a good time. This beachfront pub is doing a good job in providing a family-friendly setting where people are welcomed. Hotel staff handled the large crowd well with meals arriving in a timely fashion. The food was good ranging from simple snacks (the hot dog I had was authentic and very tasty) through to great fish and chips and more elaborate dishes including the ubiquitous "parmi". Now hosting a two-year old's birthday with over 20 guests ranging in age from 2 to 70 is always going to be a challenge but Salty Dog did it in fine form with its easy tolerance toward children and dogs. The kids had a ball - I can't remember a local restaurant other then McDonalds with its playgrounds that was so kid-friendly. Service is by ordering at the bar with meals delivered to tables, drinks likewise. The only challenges were around attempting to book some tables in the garden for 20 - for whatever reason this proved too hard but in the end there was plenty of room and table space. They were also obliging about us bringing in a birthday cake charging $20 for providing serviettes and a knife which we thought was reasonable. Well done Salty Dog - you've made some likely return customers over your customer service and great open space.

Craft bar on Kingston Beach, celebrating good booze from near and far! Cocktails Local gin Whiskies of the world Craft beer on tap Unique spirits and liqueurs Bar food Hobart's most scenic southern beach
Beachside location, open til late which is not always the case in Hobart, professional, friendly staff in a small place, not a huge range of cocktails but ideal if you want to discover a hidden gem!

We went with a group and ordered at the counter, staff was friendly, food took reasonably long to come out and was good - nothing to complain, nothing to rave about.

Had dinner at the snug Tavern a couple of weeks ago with a large group. The meals were exceptional.....The meals came out in good time and they were fantastic and very generous servings too. It wasn't a cheap place to eat but when the food is great you don't mind. I had Tasmanian scallops and it is quite hard to find Tassie scallops these days especially at a pub so I was quite impressed.

Popular local venue in Blackmans Bat, and obviously well patronised by both locals and visitors.Even on a quiet Monday morning, there were numerous clients enjoying the panoramic views over the Bay, the welcoming atmosphere and the good coffee and food.Table service was very prompt and efficient, and seating options ranged from cozy lounges by the fire, to comfortable tables and chairs all with views across the Bay.There is also a pleasant outdoor area at the front with beach umbrellas, to enjoy the fresh air and the scenery.Well worth a visit when visiting Blackmans Bay

Family gathering for 12, had crumbed flat head with chips and salad, 3 smallish pieces of fish that was a dry, would have expected better for $27.00, lacked flavour and served with a very basic salad, most of the table thought their meals were average and overpriced for what they received. For half the price and better fish i would suggest going to the fish punts in hobart, not sure if it was just a bad night but it wasn't the best experience which is a shame as we have been before on a few occasions and enjoyed our meals.
At the entrance of a word class local museum. We serve freshly made waffles, quiches, soups and gorgeous cakes. Local Gifts & Goodies. We also do private functions & catering.
Came here for lunch unexpectedly with a friend. Have to completely recommend the home baked chicken and mushroom pie. It was out of this world served with a tasty side salad with a creamy lemon dressing. Try their dirty chai too (chai latte with a shot of espresso ) service is great and atmosphere interesting with the channel museum attached. I will be back âï¸ Thanks so much for your great review Maggie. Looking forward to see you again

Bruni's Restaurant is an A la Carte restaurant on the grounds of Villa Howden and nestled on the edge of North West Bay in Howden - Hobart, Tasmania. We have private and public dining areas boasting beautiful garden views and high ceilings. We provide sea
Dinner while it was still daylight (daylight saving!) in a beautiful room, hushed and yet not oppressively so, with a beautiful outlook to the terrace and garden beyond - what a great evening. I give it full marks for atmosphere and ambience. This was assisted by the wonderful staff, who were attentive but not overwhelming or 'false'. The complimentary amuse bouche was excellent, as were our meals. Delicious pork, fish, scallops. The only negatives - the lamb came as cutlets and the fat was thick and inedilble. My friend had it and was disappointed, as it looked like the fat needed to be further rendered to make it edible. This same friend requires gluten free foods, and although grateful for the provision of gluten-free bread, these days there are much more palatable GF breads available than the solid, white, cardboard slices of days gone by. The side dishes of new potatoes and green beens with roasted hazelnuts were fantastic. Yes, the anchovies were missing from the green bean dish, but who cares? The were delicious. Sadly the espresso machine was broken, so we had to forego our longed-for affogatos!Thank you for your feedback - we will forward you information onto our Chef. We are pleased you did enjoy your room and the property.

Brookfield rustic and country friendly and warming staff things to do for the kids local retail to browse. the hub of food and things to do
This was my first visit to Brookfields but certainly not my last. They have done a wonderful job reconstructing their venue after the devastating floods last year. The decor is very appealing with a rustic feel, which fits into the surrounding environment. The service was very good, the food was great with plenty of choice and prices reasonable. The Tasmanian scallops were excellent. The live music was enjoyable and provided a pleasant backdrop without being overwhelming. There is plenty of parking on site.

Had a great breakfast, really friendly staff who were working hard to make it a success. I had the eggs on toast, but everyone else choose pancakes, and to be honest we were all stuffed until tea time. Great job, my daughters eyes were bigger than her belly, and she did not finish her plate.
