Luckily we were prepared for the prices at this restaurant, the emphasis is on the set menu and vegetarian or fish alternatives are only available with prior warning. A limited wine list and water was available only on a "self serve" basis, as it was "busy". The steaks were good and cooked to order and there was a limited choice of side dishes. Service varied between the wait staff, but it was nice that the chef acknowledged us when he had time. Not as good as expected.

I have to admit this is not the sort of place I’d normally visit, but I was pleasantly surprised - particularly by the service and food. When we arrived it was packed at 6pm on a sunday night. There were families and lots of blokes. It was bustling and smoky! We started with the KFC - Kentucky fried cauliflower - which was nice and crunchy. However, the real star here is the meat. We shared lamb ribs (soft and unctuous), the grilled spatchcock (moist and smoky), plus the caramel wagyu ribs - which were a sensation. We thought it all just needed a few more veges. The slaw was OK, the mash was nice and plates also came with grilled bread. The overall dishes were not pretty, but uber tasty. The service was friendly and we were kept up to date about our order, which had been delayed. There were vego options - and people were raving about the meat donuts. Maybe next time!

Fifteen Pounds is a Fairfield favourite. They serve Campos coffee - the Grange of coffee brands - and feature other interesting coffee labels each month for the discerning coffee drinker. They have good range of cafe favourities, including speciality baked treats but their delicious Wagyu beef and chicken burgers and crispy fries are hard to beat. Enjoy your meal in the relaxing, dog friendly courtyard at the rear of the cafe. Conveniently located next to Fairfield railway station.

Like others, we also were a little disappointed with the low level of service. My motto is simply, happy to pay the higher end for our meals but the service must match the pricing. Non attentive, slow and other than for one staff member, unfriendly! Our meals on the other hand were magnificent! We went with the degustation menu, one vegetarian and one no seafood. The textures and combination of flavours combined with creativity was a credit to the team of chefs. Every meal was really a beautiful experience.
Recommended to try this place by a girlfriend who’s a foodie & she was spot on!!A modern, tastefully furnished establishment with well thought out & creative offerings. We shared seared scallops then we enjoyed crab omelette & ancient grain salad with chicken - moist & very morish!! One of the nicest salads I’ve tasted in a while. Service was warm & attentive.Must return to try their dinner menu soon.

Good menu with reasonable range. Cabinet food available. Sell bread too. Friendly staff. Coffee delivered promptly. It was okay. Order taken and food arrived quite quickly. Busy place. Sausage roll was disappointing. Greasy and heated in a microwave. Don’t think this visit did the place justice and so might come back and try something different.

This friendly and family owned and operated restaurant care about their customers and deliver delicious food. They have a very clear understanding of catering for someone who’s Coeliac - first hand. They also understand fructose intolerance. The staff will help guide you though what’s possible if food intolerances are part of your life. The dishes are quite large as is quite normal with Italian restaurants, the flavours are lovely. Have eaten here a few times over the last 4 years, always delightful.Thank you fifiB07! We understand the frustration that those with dietary requirements face when eating out. We will always strive to make people with dietary requirements feel at ease when dining @ Vasko, instead of feeling alienated. Thank you again!
Where to eat European food in Ivanhoe: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Back to the Hub again this morning. Enjoyed my big breakfast very much, especially the Cypriot sausage the name of which momentarily escapes me. My coffee was lovely too. Service was warm and friendly. The Hub is recommended.Four months earlierThis cafe/bistro used to be known as Over the Road until a major renovation a number of months ago. The space has undergone substantial change and some lovely modifications have been made. It's more modern, orderly and coherent. The gifts that used to be dotted around the place are gone and it's more spacious now and warmer. Today we ordered the egg and bacon focaccia with chili jam. It was very nice and made for a hearty lunch. We finished it off with coffees and a scientifically halved salted caramel cookie. The cookie belongs with the foods served to the angels in heaven. I felt significant psychological pain finishing my half. My coffee was ok but not one I'd include in a hall of fame. It's a nice place and some of the other dishes looked fantastic.
