Family lunch on a Sunday of 14 people. Told there would be table service, but we were left waiting for far too long with menus, without anyone coming to take our order. Difficult getting staffsâ attention. I finally had to get up from my seat and go over to ask a waitress to come over. Menu encourages sharing. The food is tasty, but far too staggered as far as time between when one dish comes and another. Another waitress gave us 5 plates and utensils for a group of 14 on our table, and never came back to supply more. As it was difficult to get any staffâs attention, someone from our table had to get up to ask a waitress for more plates and utensils. Empty plates and glasses which were finished with took far too long to be cleared too. We will not be back.

What used to be one of Geelongâs premium venues has disappointed both in December last year and this weekend gone. Staff were unable to find my online booking, even though I had confirmed with 2 emails and a text message. They fumbled around for a while, with no apology and eventually made us a table in the smaller room which was overcrowded and loud. Main courses were generous, but desserts seriously took their time and were small. Again no apology for the lengthy wait time, rather just the offer to buy more drinks. For $350 for 5, you expect everything to be above standard and it barely met it at times. Too many other good venues to choose from so our return is doubtful.

My espresso was excellent, wait staff friendly and efficient; atmosphere is fun, patrons are polite. My risotto was nicely presented, a modest quantity and an appetising sight. I recommend for a working lunch.

Not for the meat and three veg crowd. This excursion through multiple starters and eight carefully considered, small, intensely flavored courses an exercise in stretching one's culinary boundaries. Menu changes constantly so recommending individual dishes is pointless but would note that the Jerusalem artichoke, scallop dish swimming in an umami rich sauce was a triumph of contrasting flavors and textures. Great bread... the only real starch component, with terrific brown butter flavored butter. Drank well from a balanced, fairly priced wine list. Terrific ambience with well spaced seating. Service was both friendly and extremely professional and the meal was perfectly paced. Only real criticism l had was that the presentation of a couple of the earlier courses... parcel of food sauced at the table...a little repetitive. We all felt we had enough to eat and declined the offer of an additional course but, as noted earlier, this is meant to be a culinary adventure not a slap up feed. An exceptional meal and a great night overall.

We were on our last leg of Great Ocean Drive trip, couldnât find any restaurant open on the Anzac Day in Torquay. We found the Rook on google and give them a call..., they mentioned they almost close but they willing to wait and accommodate our big group. We glad we did. The food is amazing, the best Sri Lankan food, very authentic. Good size portion. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. Great atmosphere, the restaurant is modern and very clean but still give u a small feeling of Srilanka .... I canât really fault anything, highly recommended.Thank you for your review @25Rosie! yes we remember you and we always do the best we can to give you our experience. Hope to see you back.Much Love from Rook Team

Can't praise Go enough. Sit inside by open fire or outside in tree fringed courtyard. Food delicious, inventive and good value for money. A good sized menu with variety. After ordering and paying at counter you are given a toy to identify your table. It's very popular in Geelong but unfortunately not open Sundays. Go has an interesting, warm and intimate almost quirky atmosphere with a touch of dignity. They have the mix just right and suitable for anybody. Nice staff as well. Just watch the step on entry as you don't see it when opening the door, because you are so busy looking at the wonderful warm interior and the yummy food cabinet in front of you.

Called in on a very busy Sunday lunchtime. We were seated straight away, had our orders taken quickly and received our drinks followed by lunches all in very good time. Highly recommended the soft shell tacos with coconut beef (amazing flavours!) my family also enjoyed the Angus burger, pulled beef burger and crunchy chicken burger - all excellent. Coffee and hot choc very good. Friendly and efficient service. I like this place and I would definitely go back. Just one thing...ditch the plastic straws please!!!!

TULIP GEELONG Tulip is located on Pakington Street, Geelong West - Geelong's vibrant centre of multiculturalism. Situated at the north end, Tulip is nestled amongst boutique shops and select restaurants characteristic of the cosmopolitan precinct. The déc
We had a time constraint which was managed well and politely. We selected three mains and one side dish for four adults, ranked the snapper, chicken and beef cheek dishes in order of excellence. Regrettably the Brussels sprouts were just too smoked and burnt for our taste. Housemade butter, good bread, good service counter balanced a limited wine list. Lovely vibe, we recommend.

Done to Geelong for an overnight stay to see some friends, we selected this restaurant from Trip Advisor, and it was a great choice.Bonnie our very knowledgeable and super efficient host was an absolute font of knowledge about the food options, cooking methods & choice of wines. She was fun with a lovely sense of humour and really knew so much and was prepared to share. What a great asset she is to Alma! The food was amazing with share plates-the prawns with radish, & passion fruit was mouthwatering, plenty of zing and just a great combination. The flat iron steak was cooked to perfection as was the snapper fillets. The servings we felt were generous. Plantain chips were tasty, the sides of potato - really crispy! and cucumber salad were also well enjoyed.A really lovely restaurant, you can we the staff get along well, and it is well priced with a great wine list ! Weâll be back!
