The Wine Bank on View is a wine bar & wine merchant, operating from a heritage listed bank building in Central Bendigo. The Victorian era building was constructed in 1876, and was once the home of the Union Bank and the Bank of Australasia & New Zealand (
It is a balmy October night. Iâm sitting solo outside, like 2 other groups. The food has been awesome - I can recommend the corn fritters for entree & gnocchi for main. The service has been poor - I have seen a waitress once in over an hour (I went inside to seek service twice).Quality wine on offer..Would recommend on the basis of the food, wine, & ambience..Iâm glad you enjoyed your experience overall, our service out the front is normally very good but going from the transition into warm nights is not familiar to our new staff. Iâve taken your comments on board and Iâm sure when you return you will see a vast improvement.RegardsMark

Rocks on Rosalind is a fun and lively Bendigo restaurant. Whilst we donât take ourselves too seriously, we are serious about how well we look after you. Rocks is a casual and contemporary Bendigo Restaurant housed within Bendigoâs historic first bank, loc
We have been here quite a few times over the years. We like the atmosphere and ambience. Intimate, without being pretentiously so, set in a wonderful old Bendigo building. For us it is 'warmer' in a more welcoming way than the otherwise excellent 'hatted' Bendigo option. The food is usually pretty good. Unfortunately our experience this time around was disappointing. We ordered 4 of the medium sized options and a smaller offering of the scallops to share between the 2 of us. The quantity was adequate and the quality generally good though lacked presentation. The scallops always good, the pork belly and salt and pepper squid likewise, though not memorable or adventurous. The two vegetable dishes of Beetroot and peppers were ok but probably better treated as sides if in a large group. As stand alone dishes they weren't nuanced enough and would have been hard going to get through if not shared. We weren't feeling any love or innovation from the kitchen. Pretty limited veg. options of substance. The menu doesn't appear to change frequently either. Our real issue though was that after we told the wait staff that we wanted to eat slowly, all 5 dishes arrived at once within 10 minutes of ordering. The very annoying metal plate stacker was suggested and rejected. We booked for 8pm and the kitchen effectively closed at 9 but for dessert service - kitchen staff clearly keen to get home. If you want to eat in a more leisurely way then maybe book earlier and tell them to go 'very slowly'. The service this time turned a potential dining experience into merely eating. The kitchen missed ( or ignored ) the mail. The food alone couldn't carry that, particularly when we couldn't eat it in a timely way.Dessert - raspberry tart - was exsy, poor and poorly presented - served with teaspoons to eat it with - what is that about?Service pleasant but not particularly attentive. No bread to start - which I always have an issue with, and overall at $80 for two without wine/drinks made us feel like it missed the mark.Just not enough love or attention to detail for mine. Has dropped back to a 3 this time around.

Whilst visiting Bendigo we called by for lunch in the pleasant outside area in warm sunshine. Our pulled pork, fennel, apple etc on Ciabatta roll was really tasty, much more enjoyable balance of flavour & texture than the traditional coleslaw you usually get.We managed a table in far corner from the speakers, why oh why do they have to have such loud music especially outside. Those who wish to be blasted could sit inside.

Dropped into the Old Boundary Hotel for lunch. It was a local Public Holiday so the Express Lunch options were not available. The building has been nicely refurbished with pictures of the Gold Rush era adorning the walls, together with other memorabilia around. The staff were very attentive and helpful. However this is also about the food. In short, really good. We had a garlic bread for entree and for mains Lasagne ,and a Eye Fillet Mignon, medium rare. The garlic bread was on a Turkish Bread and had a lot of garlic with a sprinkling of parsley - excellent. The lasagne had a very nice taste but a bit dry on some of the edges. The Eye Fillet Minon was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The meals were a good size but not huge. We both were comfortably full. No hesitation in recommending the venue and meals and we will be certainly going back on our next trip to Bendigo.

Chose this place due to high rating on Trip Advisor. Nice ambience and comfy seating. No lunchtime specials on a Saturday not sure if they do on weekdays. Most meals mid twenties or higher.Service was efficient and our meals were good but not perfect.I had a parmi with chips and salad. It could have done with a bit more seasoning. The beer battered chips were yum and the salad was ok..My wife enjoyed her corned Silverside and veges.Very good but probably not a 5.

From the moment we stepped through the door I knew this was the place to be. An intimate atmosphere, loads of choice for food, wines, spirits and beers and Sam the owner and, our host, could not have been more welcoming or interactive.

Stopped here for breakfast after previous tripadvisor reviews. Good breakfast choices including vegetarian options. I had the pulled pork benny, which was good and my hubby had the scrambled eggs. Good portion sizes and god service. Unfortunately due to there being no free tables inside we sat outside, and opposite the cafe is a church where a preacher was loudly 'saving' us while we ate. Didn't spoll our experience too much.

Enjoyed a great lunch at this terrific little cafe in the heart of Bendigo. It's a noisey atmosphere but certainly not an issue. Staff are good and the service is reasonably quick. We all had different meals and two were very good but one was off the mark. The flavel balls were a little dry and not pleasant. Still the other meals were exactly what the menus. Good hearty not expensive meals. Will certainly do a return visit.

Had a table for four booked, one of my junior doctors could not get childcare. Her 18 month old daughter joined her, making it a table of five. Her daughter was quiet, colouring in or playing on an iPad. She did, however, want her own seat, which this restaurant could not cope with.We were subsequently moved to an outside table after our staters. The starters were beautiful. But the mains in the Siberian cold away from heaters, just tasted as sour as the attitude of the staff towards having a child in their establishment. It was embarrassing to host a function there. Food was good though.GlasseyedThank you for your feedback. We are a family owned business that has been welcoming families since opening 7 years agoWe are a fully booked restaurant 5 nights a week.If you have booked for a table of 4 people it is very hard for us to move your group to a table that accommodates your extra person at short notice. We really appreciate if you have an extra guest dining with you to call ahead so we can move our floor plan around with plenty of notice making sure we can accommodate everyone. Unfortunately at short notice the only table of 5 available to accommodate your extra guest arriving was outside in our heated alfresco area, Moving your group outside has nothing too do with having a child in our establishment, it has to do with us satisfying your needs of a table that accommodates 5 chairs around it Apologies we could not put you on a bigger table in the main dining area, unfortunately these were all bookedWe have staff get abused when we donât have tables available at short notice or if they cannot alter the dining room at customers request We do try our very best to please our guests and I hope you understand the position we were put in Please feel free to contact us if you which to discuss further Regards Paul PitcherChef/ owner

Nestled under a chic black awning on Queen Street in the heart of Bendigoâs bustling CBD district awaits Masons of Bendigo â a modern, sophisticated restaurant with a welcoming relaxed ambience. First opened on March 26 2012, husband and wife chef team Ni
First thing I organised for our weekend in Bendigo was dinner here. Heard great things, expected great things and got great things. Chose the $72 Roaming menu which I thought was very reasonably priced for this quality. Loved everything. Managed to âgetâ the chef to pick all the dishes I liked the sound of and they were all delicious. The potato croquettes were very good, the dumplings great and the fried eggplant salad was like eating a vegetarian Asian style pork belly - superb. The pork cutlets and accompanying vegetables, particularly the stuffed butternut squash was great and looked superb. The second highlight ( we really loved that eggplant dish ) was the shared dessert tasting plate. Very generous and just yum. Service was great and drinks options excellent. A great night out in the newly announced UNESCO international City of Gastronomy. Would be happy to catch the train up just to eat here again and go home late. Only fault is the fact the restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday - would want interstate/international tourists to know that before they arrive in the City of Foodâs best restaurant. (Seemed a common occurrence on Sunday at most restaurants other than the pubs.Wondering if the UNESCO thing will change that)But small quibble. We got our Saturday night feast we planned for so no problem for us. SUPERB.
