White table cloths, professional service (kudos to Minnie!), and nice presentation--in these ways I agree with the previous reviewers. On their recommendations we tried the place. However, we found the food quality mediocre, the flavor bland (everything, and I mean everything, tasted the same!), grease and salt levels high. We're still searching for our favorite Chinese restaurant but, sorry, this doesn't even come close. With due respect to the previous reviewers, we won't be back.

I lived in Japan for over 5 years and have visited Hong Kong and Taiwan many times. The Szechuan Café could be considered as a hidden gem of Asian foods for the Pasadena area. Our friends that live in the area tell us that they think it is the best Chinese in Pasadena. The locals eat here as at noon on Sunday the place was half packed with customers, and even so we have quick service to get us water, menus and drinks. My wife and I ordered "pot stickers" as an appetizer and were not disappointed, they were correctly done for seafood stuffing! My Curry are spicy, but not spicy hot, and was not made with coconut, which I do not care for. It was a tasty curry, not bland and there was plenty of rice and meat. (Took half of it home to eat later it was that good!) My wife had Hunan Chicken, one of her favorites, and told me that it was great. I would rate the meals with some of the best we had in Asian restaurants! They left us alone to dine and made sure we had enough iced tea and cold water in our glasses. This is a very good Chinese Restaurant, it is not a bar with Chinese food as some people might think. If you like good Chinese food, you might want to try this place for some good Asian foods!

My husband loves sushi. I don't. This restaurant is perfect for us. It has great sushi and great Chinese food. The service is excellent. The food is fantastic. It is obvious that they have a regular clientele and they often greet customers by name. The atmosphere is nice, comfortable and very clean. The service is very attentive.Portions are generous. I highly recommend this Szechuan Cafe.

We stopped in for dinner on a Friday night on our way to the Eastern Shore to wait out traffic. Good ambience inside, not that evident from the outside though. Lots of free parking out front. My Drunken Noodle was very good with chicken as the "protein" and had a nice kick with 2 peppers. My wife enjoyed her Thai Pineapple Fried Rice with Shrimp and Chicken...lightly curried. We split a Mango Sticky Rice for dessert, our favorite dessert. Friendly staff and attentive service. Overall a very good experience. Our bill before gratuity with 2 ice teas and 2 Green Salads totaled just under $53.

This place is new to the area and was recommended by a family member. I went with a friend and we both ordered the same thing, the Spider Roll and the Tempura Shrimp. The Sushi roll was good but the Tempura shrimp and vegetables, as well as the dipping sauce for the tempura had no taste. When I spoke to my dinner buddy this morning, we both had gotten sick during the night which is why I brought up the fact that we ate the same thing. Also, the restaurant closes at 9:30PM but the staff started clearing our table at 9 and cleaning counters and floors by 9:15. I think that work should be done after the restaurant closes. That's my first and last time there, there are too many other options in the area and with a bill of $50.45 + tip, I definitely don't think it was worth it.

Lunch, Wednesday 01Feb2017, have been to several of these francises, first time to this one though. Walked through door and staff busy doing everything but waiting on us. Several minutes went by before Karlene came to the counter and asked if she could help us from behind the other station we had stopped and waited at. We placed our order and were given coffee cups to get our water with. Walked to self serve drink station that was rather unsightly with previous drink selections all over the place and a paper napkin someone used to sop up a liquid and chose to leave for all to see. Walked to empty booths but fake leather seats were all split and cracked, food crumbs on tables and floor so chose a two chair table that fortunately was clean. Three other groups of people eating and three additional tables with dirty dishes, food etc left on tables that had not been bussed in spite of the fact there were five staff people passing through area. Quickly received luke warm pot stickers followed shortly thereafter by dishes of Japanese pan fried noodles which were nice and hot but literally covered in an excessive quantity of black seasame seeds. Had to go up front to ask for chopsticks, as there were none at the accessories table and Karlene told me they were over on the accessory table, I informed her they were not, she indicated that yes they should be when another female employee reached under the cabinet and handed me two with a smile. I don't know if this was an off day but it will be a while before I return to this location.

Stopped in for a late bite this weekend, with high hopes. We've been searching for an "good" chinese restaurant locally for some time, but this doesn't cut the mustard. Two out of three dishes were frankly disappointing and stale, and the tempura roll may well have "turned" before serving it to us. The setting is pleasant, but the in-back bar scene is overly loud, and made it impossible for any seated patrons to enjoy a quiet meal. Won't be back here--

Our kids love this place when they come to visit. The amount and quality of the food cannot be beat. Since it is cooked right there, the steak is always mouth-watering. The service was exceptionally slow, such that we could barely get a drink or sushi. A bit frustrating.

My husband and I stopped in for a very late lunch on a weekday. We assumed that we might be the only ones in the restaurant. Wrong! The small interior was bustling. We received a cheerful greeting and were seated and served quickly. Pho was $9.95 with about ten combinations of meat, including chicken and shrimp. We chose well done brisket, that was paper thin and tender. The pho was served with bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapeno and lime wedges. Siracha, chili paste and hoisin sauce were on the table. The pho had a perfect blend of flavors and is the best I have eaten. We intended to order banh mi sandwiches as well, but no sandwiches were on the menu. This is different from our experience at other pho restaurants. Other items on the menu were appetizers and noodles. We ordered spring rolls, two for $4.95. Our choice of a shrimp/pork combination was beautifully presented in a plump rice wrap with large shrimp. I did not care for the dipping sauce, which had a sweet peanut base -- just a matter of personal preference. Next time I will try the appetizer of grilled beef. We did not try any of the Vietnamese milk-based drinks but they sounded very appetizing,The restaurant is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking, just off busy Route 2. This will be one of my favorite stopping places when I am in the area!
