Dedicated to Steenbergâs 17th century founder, Catharina Ras, or Tryn as she was known to her nearest and dearest; this restaurant is contemporary in spirit with fabulous food, bold accents and modern textures. At Tryn, Chef Kerry takes her culinary skill
Catharina's at Steenberg Estate has undergone a metamorphosis in name and in Chef. Tryn was apparently the name by which Catharina Raas was known. The previous chef was very good as a chef from as far as a quality gourmet menu is concerned but the choice of dishes on the menu did not meet the wishes of potential diners. The maestro behind the stove now is none other than Kerry Kilpin who has put Bistro 1682 at Steenberg on the foodie top list in the Constantia area. There is the same menu for lunch and for dinner but the choice enables one to have a relatively light meal, as my wife and I did today, or a main meal of the day should one so wish.My wife had succulent tempura prawns to start while I chose scallops, which were again succulent, accompanied by cumin fritters and the sauces that one might expect from Kerry Kilpin. We both followed these dishes with Caesar salads. I finished my meal with a tasty namalaka. We ate outside on the terrace facing False Bay on a perfect Western Cape Spring day.We are looking forward to returning for dinner on a suitable occasion.Dear 880Paddy, thank you for your very detailed review of your experience at our new restaurant, Tryn. It is so wonderful to hear that you enjoyed your time with us. We hope to welcome you back for dinner one day soon. Regards, Chanel Conradie

Osetra - The Restaurant is a 220-seater upmarket designer restaurant, situated in the heart of Kalk Bay. The restaurant, named after the Caviar, is almost completely sea facing with the outside dining terrace perfectly positioned for people-watching. Open
This was our second visit and we were as impressed as on our first visit. We were given a delicious complimentary bowl of spicy seafood bisque on arrival (very welcome on an icy Cape Town day). We then shared a plate of perfectly cooked prawns, served with the most delicious soya sauce-based sauce and fabulous egg-fried rice. The staff were attentive and efficient (and I loved the teapot they brought my tea in).

A really lovely atmosphere especially outside in the garden area. Service from Bronwen was excellent! The sushi is fantastic and very well priced. We (7of us) ordered a variety of different platters and from the specials of the day and everything was superb.

The Indian Oven strives to provide the best possible Indian culinary experience outside of India. Prepared the traditional way in an authentic clay Tandoori Oven our dishes are made fresh daily with ingredients sourced from local markets, farms & supplier
The biryani we had was not up to satisfaction, average as well as the curry. The restaurant and their foods donât Iook inviting to me this visit.personally think they use to do much better. Since thereâs a few more Indian restaurants keep coming up in and around Hout Bay, this restaurant themself need to do better to stand out amongst the others or at least keep us coming back.

Incredible Contemporary Asian Cuisine, Cocktails and an impressive selection of wines.
Our family of four visited Cheyne's for a Sunday afternoon lunch. The service was good, and the food and presentation was excellent. The portion sizes (Typical tapas style menu with pacific rim dishes) was rather small and expensive. For the money we paid, we still felt that we need to go to have fish and chips at the Warf
