Obviously run by a friendly couple, presenting an English language menu. The three of us had hot soba and two spaghetti dishes, all were very tasty and filling, and very good value for money. There were several tour guides and bus drivers having their lunch, too. Old fashioned atmosphere, clean, tables & chairs, no tatami seating. Only Japanese language spoken but with the English menu this is no problem at all.

A good spot for dinner in Nikko - not too far from the Turtle Inn (Hotorian). Some Chinese cuisine, some standard Japanese ramen. All-round decent eatery with very helpful staff and a very reasonable pricing. We found it a bit by chance after trying to locate a "mainstream" ramen place but we didn't and ended up there. You will find Chinese dishes but from what I could tell they were Japanised to an extend and not as authentic as the real Chinese stuff on the mainland. Still,. you can't go wrong there and you will have a very nice dinner to enjoy,

We stumbled across this ramen place in the quiet area near Nikko station. Our meal was made with such care and was so delicious we returned for dinner the next night. Miso ramen and the spicy ramen were absolutely delicious and comforting with fresh ingredients and great flavour. Gyoza were excellent!

Nikko has wonderful nature but it lacks in restaurants, pubs and cafés which are still open after 6pm. We stumbled across this little restaurant when searching for one which should have been open. And what a little gem it is! Really tasty dishes and super friendly staff. Okay their English is not good (mine isn't either, sorry) but they compensate with everything else. This little place (6 tables) should get the attention it deserves. We left with our tummies filled and a great big smile on our faces!

Stumbled across this place on my way back from Zenko-ji temple to Nikko train station. Was served a delightful 6 course meal featuring yuba - a local specialty - made from the skin that forms while you boil soy milk. It's a soft, wobbly substance with a delicate flavour. Staff was welcoming and spoke enough English to explain the dishes to me.

Yubakomachi is located in the first floor of hotel viva about 5 blocks from Tobu nikko train station. They still have a big red take out sign. They had yummy Yuba tomato soup, croquettes and rice. They also had tonkatsu (delicious) and pork cutlet (meh). They do have some western stuff:French fries onion rings, pizza. Okay serving sizes and prices okayhp(the sets seem like a better value) Nikko closes down early (this was Monday night at 7) and as others have mentioned there arenât a lot of open-late options so this very much appreciated. Other place we went was ramen bontem.

This was so far the best japanese food experience. Highly recommended! We had only one selection of food (organic vegetables) but everything was so fresh, tasty and in japanese style. Coffee was great too. Once in Nikko definitely take a look you wont be dissapointed. Enjoy!

Found this place by chance after a day of hiking around Nikko. I started with Gyozas which were absolutely delicious especially given the secret sauce. I continued with a local form of Ramen noodles, Yoba, that seems to be famously from Nikko. The host, Akira, was wonderfully attentive. Speaks quite good English and is eager to learn new things about the world as well as sharing with you the local knowledge. Truly priceless. I wish I would have met him before visiting the shrines. I will gladly come back again.

After spending the morning walking down from the 3 main UNESCO Nikko sights, we saw this inviting restaurant as we walked down from the Shinkyo Bridge. Although it was fully busy, the front window table just opened and we were happy to sit. A smiling lady presented our menus, poured glasses of ice water and presented wash towelettes with chopsticks. After ordering 2 different front page "Yakitori" meals, our grape Juice and Zero Beer arrived. As we met our neighboring table mates, our trays of noodles, rice and chicken arrived. Everything was cooked perfectly, tasted great and was filling, a tribute to the 3 busy cooks and our attentive waitress. We noted the Japanese style dining room making our way to the clean restrooms in the rear. Great restaurant for day tourists like us for $24 cash.

This place serves really great ramen. Based on reviews I read, both my husband and I had the one with leeks. The gyozas were also really great. We went on the earlier side for dinner and were able to walk right in although all the seats were taken by the time we left. I think we will likely go back again because it was so good. Our server was really nice as well. A super choice in Nikko. It is located on the main street and close to both the Tobu and JR stations if you are heading back to Tokyo or elsewhere after your meal.
