We had the amazing opportunity to spend a couple of weeks in Thailand last spring, and I've been craving authentic Thai food since we've returned. I've had some ok food in other places, but THIS was the place that made us feel like we were back in Thailand! It's a funky, cozy little place; the restaurant was not overly busy, but the carry-out business was brisk. Service was a little slow, but that was ok as we were in no hurry. We would recommend everything we tried - spring roll with plum sauce, Tom Yum soup, stir fry, and shrimp curry. Beer (Singha, Chang, and Tiger! $3.50 each!) and wine were available. It's also cash only. The only regret was that we didn't have room for mango and sticky rice - next time! I will be back - soon!

We are a family owned and operated Indonesian restaurant located on the near east side of Madison. Serving traditional and fusion Indonesian fare since January 2000!
Ate here with people from work who ranged from meat eaters to vegetarians. We stuck mainly to vegetarian options and had a nice shared meal. Apparently they make their own tempeh which was good. Dishes had range from mild to spicy. Good selection of local beer too. I can't vouch for the authenticity of the food but I am guessing this was a "hybrid" Southeast Asian type of place. There were dishes that sounded Thai and the server admitted as much. However, the Pad Thai was one of the best dishes on the menu---go figure!

The brunch menu is extensive, offering various buns, dumplings, ramen, and more. There were plenty of options and every dish my table ordered was delicious. I will certainly be returning again. I highly recommend the vegetarian breakfast bun and edamame dumplings.

Went with friends for a birthday lunch celebration and was really impressed with the friendliness of the service. Prompt, explained sauces and options, very enjoyable hibachi presentation for 4 very different orders! Loved the onion volcano on flame show! Food stayed hot & came in order so we could chat, enjoy the presentation, AND eat comfortably . Hibachi shrimp, chicken & veggie, tempura veg, fried rice, and rolls all delish. The saw it was a celebration & brought out green tea ice cream for us. Volunteered to take our photos with all sorts of cameras, and we're engaging without hovering. Wonderful time & meals were enjoyed by our entire group!

We had some food delivered yesterday from Monsoon as we were craving Thai food. Having been recently in Thailand, I must admit that we set our expectations high when it comes to Thai food. We ordered a couple of dishes, including the infamous Khao Soi, Papaya salad and Pad Pik Pow. We found Khao Soi to be very different from the ones we had before as it was very sweet and the sauce was thick. On the other hand we like that it came with some of the usual complements. The papaya salad was tasteless and lacked the spices that it should have. We foundPad Pik Pow OK, nothing special. To sum up we found the food OKish given the local fare.

We love Lao Laan-Xang at their Williamson Street location, so I was excited to try their Atwood location. I'm happy to report the food was just as good! I'm not sure if there were differences in the menus themselves, but they seemed quite similar.Everything we ate was fresh with lots of complimentary flavors and textures. We enjoyed the pork egg-rolls and spicy sausage. The beef salad was spicy and amazing. The larp was outstanding. Like most southeast Asian food, the flavors were a mix of sweet, salty, sour, spicy, and everything was fresh. For either location, the food at Lao Laan-Xang seems to be spot-on.The main difference was in the atmosphere and the service. While the Williamson location has a quirky, I'm eating at my Lao neighbor's house feel, the Atwood location has a professional restaurant feel. It also has a more complete bar w/specialty cocktails. It's more formal and a place you would feel comfortable taking business associates while the Williamson Street location I would save for friends and family. The service also varies in that at the Williamson Location we have been served by both a waitress and the cook. It feels more informal. At the Atwood location the wait staff felt more experienced and more of a typical restaurant visit rather than visiting someone at their home.Either way, Lao Laan-Xang is a winner in my book an definitely worth visiting.

This is how the website describes this place, âCompact cafe with eclectic decor serving Nepalese dishes with an Indian & Mediterranean twistâ.It is a medium-sized restaurant which has an updated interior. Was expecting eclectic in a cozy, older environment. Ambience was a 5 out of 10. Waitstaff only mediocre. The vast menu makes up for it: there are several choices of vegetarian or meat versions of popular dishes such as tagine, curry, kebabs, masala and more. There are also plenty of protein choices including salmon, mussels, crab, lamb, goat, pork, chicken and beef, tofu.Menu also includes small plate options of seafood, meat or vegetarian foods a la carte. Sides can be added including a few choices of bread, house salad and dal ( lentil stew) and even There are also burgers an d fries on the menu. True story. Various main meal salads are enticing. Usually, pasta, potatoes and rice accompany the proteins. Mediterranean, Indian and other seasonings were utilized well. We all had something different and no one was disappointed. Try to read the menu online before you dine. Thereâs a lot from which to choose. I would go again and do recommend Dobhan for dinner.

I asked the waitress what was best and she recommended the 3 mushrooms dish with beef. Well... the meat was tough and not a great grade, didnât care at all for the white onions in the dish and the sauce? Sort of middling. Not sweet, not salty, not even especially flavorful. Iâd keep looking.

We wanted a lake view for dinner. When I drove up to the main entrance, I was sure that there could not be a lake view, since the entrance was surrounded by tall buildings. We walked behind our server through this cavernous restaurant. We sat outside on a balcony that was at least three stories above the lake. Fabulous views. Our Italian food was delicious. The Chianti was fairly priced. A memorable evening.

I went to lunch at Ha Long Bay (recently re-opened after a car had plowed through front corner of restaurant, necessitating months of repair work) with a friend. As usual, the place was packed, with a 45-minute wait for a table on a Saturday afternoon. But it was well worth the wait! Our waitstaff was courteous, knowledgeable and friendly without being overly or under attentive. We enjoyed hot green tea with an appetizer of spring rolls stuffed with egg roll. These were good but not as good as we remembered from a previous trip. My dining companion opted for Squash curry with Duck, while I opted for a Vietnamese specialty (VE 6) which include tofu and a number of veggies (broccoli, red pepper, green pepper, onion) with medium seasoning. The entrees were delicious! I had enough to box up and bring home for the next day's lunch. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty and as someone who is highly allergic to MSG, I think I can safely say that they do not use it as neither dish caused a reaction on my part. We'll certainly go again, although we may try mid-afternoon on a weekday.
