Find out what Asian restaurants to try in Labuan Island. Labuan /ləˈbuːən/ (Jawi: لابوان), officially the Federal Territory of Labuan (Malay: Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan, Jawi: ولايه ڤرسكوتوان لابوان), is a federal territory of Malaysia. It is made up of the eponymous Labuan Island and six smaller islands, and is located off the coast of the state of Sabah in East Malaysia. Labuan's capital is Victoria and is best known as an offshore financial centre offering international financial and business services via Labuan IBFC since 1990 as well as being an offshore support hub for deepwater oil and gas activities in the region. It is also a tourist destination for people travelling through Sabah, nearby Bruneians and scuba divers. The name Labuan derives from the Malay word labuhan which means harbour. Labuan is often referred to as the pearl of Borneo.
Things to do in Labuan Island
Famous for their nasi lemak and breakfast fare...also make a good Laksa..reasonably priced and in a good location in downtown Labuan behind the chinese temple
First of all, it took about 10 minutes to get anyone to attend to our table. It takes another 5 minutes to hail down a waitress to take our order. After 30 minutes of wait for our food, sensing something wasn't right, hailed down a waitress and ask to check on our food. No feedback was returned. Hailed down a waiter after 5 minutes for the same reason. Then after a while, the waitress returned saying that they cooked the wrong food. Another few minutes, the waiter came back saying kitchen can't cope. After about 15 minutes, our food arrived. Upon paying at the counter, I spoke to the supervisor. Now the reason given was they missed our food order. Well, if you guys want to lie, at least get your story straight. FYI - The worst thing you want to do to your hungry customers who have been waiting for an hour is LIE at their face! Please avoid this cafe if you can. Not worth it. Not the first time frequented this cafe. Their service has been consistently poor. Worse, ethics have gone out of the window too.
Located within the Grand Dorset Hotel the place has great ambience and yummy food .Fresh air from tables outside add to the place beauty .They have several food options I chose prawns deep fried ...

Great location with a nice sea view and sea breeze. Offer lot of super fresh seafood to pick for. Need to be there before 7pm unless you have booked earlier. Price is reasonable for group dining. Excellent seafood cuisines like steamed fish, butter prawn and grilled fish with sambal. Labuan is the heaven for seafood lovers.

Pulau Labuan Restaurant has the best chinese restaurant on the island which caters mainly for local islanders and their families. A 30 year old restaurant, the food is consistently good, priced reasonably and very very popular.Probably the no.1 chinese restaurant on the island. No western food served here.

A very popular seafood joint in Labuan frequented by locals and visitors. Good food, reasonable price and good service. The person David is very helpful and friendly. You choose your seafood from the big tray and they will cook for you. We had prawns, a fish cooked 2 ways : steamed and Asam pesas, cray fish, crab and vegetables. All below RM200.

My first visit here for dinner with family, it was recommended by my wife's friend. There are actually 4 stalls operating under one roof. My personally picked stall (No. 1) sadly out of crabs (ketam) but I asked them to order crabs with their neighbour anyway.Upon arrival, there are many diners already (we arrived at 8PM due to my detour earlier).Pro(s)-Located by the sea, should be a beautiful view if come by day.-Many parking lots available next to the restaurant.-All the seafood are fresh and put in aquariums whereby we can pick by ourselves.Cons:- The place is quite secluded, you have to drive or get a Grab as I think there are no public bus stop here. I myself was a bit lost as I relied with my Waze.- This place seems to be overrated, my favorite restaurant (Island Tomyam) near the airport foods taste better.- Long time to wait for our food.- Price is a bit higher than normal. We ordered flower crab price RM45/kg, while in Semporna it's just RM35-40 depending on the stock availability but nowhere RM45!- The salt-egg crab was not even salty, it was too sweet! Looked like they even pour half scheme milk there!- Local ambience, not much decoration not like Chinese Seafood Restaurant anywhere.Summary:Unless a miracle happens (like I had an amnesia or such), I won't be back here again.

Stayed a couple of times at the Tiara but never had the opportunity to savour their food at the restaurant until I was invited there. Wow! A must try restaurant for their array of seafood that was served there. Had a few dishes but a must try is their seafood curry.

I would like to share my personal experience of visiting this restaurant. The best time to visit is until 19.00 - the restaurant is not yet full, you can choose a place on the terrace and choose more seafood. Do not wait until the waiter comes to you and brings the menu, it is better to choose what you like right after entering, but weigh all this and order it to be prepared according to your wishes. The choice of seafood is large, and at 18.00 it is much more than at 20.00.We asked to be cooked on the grill, without any local spicy or sweet sauces ... huge tiger shrimps 6 pcs. , fish the size of a large frying pan, vegetables in oyster sauce and fried rice, plus 6 x 0.33 ltr of beer. For all paid 220 local ring, about 75 USD. The price is quite reasonable. The quality is excellent and the speed of the order is fast. The staff speaks good English, you can pay by card.
