Find out what Asian restaurants to try in Kampala. Near the banks of Lake Victoria, Kampala, the capital of Uganda, is a lively city with a long history. Before the British, the city was the capital of the Buganda Kingdom, and remains so to this day. The city sits on several hills, each housing an important government or religious building. Kasubi Hill is the home of the Kasubi Tombs, a sacred burial ground of Buganda Kings. The Uganda Museum sits atop Kololo Hill, and features a hands-on collection of traditional musical instruments.

I read some of the reviews on here and thought this is a must visit, so I was quite disappointed! The mixed starter was incredibly dry, so too was the Sheekh kebab. That Chaat was good, but nothing special. My friend said the Dosa was nice. Service was ok, but ambience was poor. Definitely not what I expected, don't waste your money when there are much better options nearby.

I used to have take away from there and the food is actually good- but then I went in there and the place is so so dirty that I can never eat there after seeing this. Itâs like you are in a village in India. The standard and the cats in and out the kitchen. Please please have a better standard so I can enjoy the food again! Dear Dilara1We appreciate taking your time off to review Ashiana Restaurant. Indeed we understand your disappointment and its always such feedback that helps us to strive and provide the great service and food Ashiana Restaurant is known for. We have further checked following your review and have identified that this was at the old premises during the transition time. We have since moved to a new location which is far cozier with great service and the same great food. We shall be more than glad to welcome you once again at Ashiana now located at Plot 8 Bandali Rise Opp Children Medical Center. We truly appreciate the fact that you brought this to our noticekind regardsManagement

"Biryani House" specializes in elevating the dining experience of customers by tantalizing their taste buds with mouth-watering cuisines such as "DUM BIRYANI" which is a century old recipe, taking more than two hours to prepare along with grilled Tandoor
Why is a beautiful restaurant in the centre of Kampala in such beautiful surroundings empty? The reason is that it's a mediocre restaurant with poor service, dirty environment and unexciting food. The whole place looks unloved, like the owner has not been there for a while and has left it in the hands of underpaid staff who don't give a $^*@ about it. It could be fantastic if they got the food and service right. The building itself is lovely but it has the feeling of a place past its best, maybe had a prestigious past but a miserable present and perhaps a non-existant future. If I were te owner I would be very worried that such a big restaurant in such beautiful setting was almost empty of diners. Why not at least clean the place a bit. there are staff hanging aorund doig nothing - pick up a broom and get sweeping!

This is a great Indian restaurant. A fabulous setting in a good location, very efficient and friendly service (this is important to me), food presented imaginatively, a wide choice of delicious dishes presented with style. The chicken biryani was particularly good and we enjoyed the starters, too. Good value for money, I thought. My favourite Indian restaurant in the world is The Ancient Raj in Canterbury (it's our 'local', if you will) and 'Khazana the Verandah is very nearly as good. In fact, if I come a few more times and the quality across the menu is as good as the first time, I may have found a new favourite. Watch this space.

We loved the menu choices. The staff were helpful, and service from the local waiters was great. Enjoyed the food, but the menu prices are ridiculously expensive. There was nothing special about the vegetarian and meat dishes we ordered. It was just basic Indian meal dishes, but the menu prices were much more than what we have paid in other countries. Even the fruit juices and soft drinks seemed to be expensive. It is just basic curry meal dishes with masala chai, nothing special. Doesn't matter how much ghee you pour on the "nan and butter chicken". I found it strange that the restaurant opens for lunch, and than closes until dinner time. Than they open for dinner. They do not realize they can have customers in the afternoon!Guess it is the way things are done in India, and it's too difficult to change.

I would not have expected to have such delicious Japanese food in the middle of Kampala, but I did! This restaurant was recommended to me by some ex-pats in Kampala. The atmosphere is lovely and relaxing, the service was good and the food was every bit as good as I have eaten before and was at a good price. Hi Sarah san! Thanks for coming, and we're happy to have pleasantly surprised you. That's the best kind of feeling! We hope you will share what you've enjoyed with others, the same as your friends, the same way that the ones you mentioned shared with you! From August 2011, our first 4-5months we operated without a sign outside, and its actually quite fun the whole world-of-mouth thing ;)Cheers, and until next time!Hanif
