Only thing that stands out from this place is, they actually don't use MSG. Food is on the salty side. Don't try to ask for hot oil when getting food delivered they charge you ¢50 no matter how much you order. (tsk tsk) maintains the rude Chinese restaurant staff tradition!

Best Chinese Food in Gainesville. VA. We eat here several times a month. Very accommodating cooks. They will alter or customize any dish for you. Usually not very crowded as they do a phenomenonal take out/delivery business. Attentive wait staff.

The meals were average, but the service was horrid. The servers seemed to be irritated that folks came in for a meal. Really disappointing all around. I'm a big believer in second chances. I may wait til spring to try gain....if they are still open.

This self serve food comes out fast, really fast, too fast to be made to order.Tough, chewy, salty, barely warm and overall unpleasant. This is not fresh healthy food it something very different. You won't hear the sounds of cooking nor will you notice an aroma. Your food will just appear out of a tiny kitchen, directly behind the counter.I agree with other reviewers that the price is high and portions small. There are better places in Haymarket to satisfy the soy and salt craves.

We order fried rice, lo mien, orange chicken, general tso chicken. The two main dishes tasted the same. My daughter removed the lids and I had a hard time figuring out the difference. Both lacked heat from a chili, so I had to break out the sirachi. The portions where very generous and the taste was not bad.

My Hubby, two boys and I were looking for a nice yum Cha restaurant after visiting the Powerhouse museum, and were not disappointed! The restaurant is located in the heart of Chinatown and near Paddy's market, the Chinese gardens of friendship and the Powerhouse museum, which is ideal if you are visiting these areas! We did not get a great seat as we were by the door with draft, and the staff was not particularly nice apart from the lovely trolley ladies, but we did not really care as food came around quickly and we were starving! The food was quite yummy and we really enjoyed ourselves. We just got a bit frustrated as the food was coming around very irregularly and as I said, we were starving! But it is chaotic as most yum Cha places are, and that was fine by us!We are planning to come back with my parents in October! Note that this year's entertainment book has a 25% off coupon for this restaurant!

Disappointed this time. Had mediocre meals in the past and gave it another try. Had to send the curry dish back as it was awful. Usually a curry dish is good; perhaps different but I can't remember a bad one until here. Something was very "off" and my wife agreed. They brought us a chicken dish which was okay. The beef w Broccoli was basically tasteless. We will not eat here again.

We stopped in for lunch on a weekday and were surprised by the stylish and comfortable decor. The lunch menu is extensive, with several choices of bento box, tempura, teriyaki, noodle bowls, other dishes, and of course, several sushi options. My husband had the tempura shrimp and vegetables and it was absolutely fabulous! I had two rolls, one avocado and one California roll. These were fresh and delicious, not chilled like when you get them at the grocery store after they've been sitting for a few hours in the cool case. What a difference it makes to have sushi made to order! I walked over and thanked the sushi chef after our meal. There are several other meals I'd love to try on future visits. Highly recommended!

Thai is not my favorite restaurant type. However, I saw a huge number of positive comments regarding Thai Pepper on a local blog and decided to try it. We have lived in Haymarket for over 18 months and pass by this restaurant on a daily basis. Until I read the reviews, I never considered a visit. Boy, was I wrong. We dined here last week and the food was delicious. I had a stir fried wok beef dish that was excellent. The veggies were crisp and cut into neat shapes. The beef was tender. My husband's scallop stir fried dish was loaded with large sea scallops. He said it was some of the best scallop dishes he has tried. The service was friendly and the restaurant was neat and clean. Now, that we know what we have missed, we will be back on a regular basis.
