Wow....just got home and had to write a review about how good our dinner at Kosaten was. If you want to try something different in central Hobart that is somewhat quirky, great value and excellent Japanese cuisine, then Kosaten is for you. The restaurant is easily found near the Hobart waterfront (at Castray Esplanade) and a just a short walk from the GPO / City Centre. Well patronised, not too noisey, orders taken via a tablet on your table (a child could easily manage it), food delivered on a train-like system and a great variety of meals, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to go back! Highly recommended.

Takeaway order:- radish cake (entree)- pork dumplings (entree)- Claypot chicken (main)Arrived for take away pretty late by Hobart standards, but they happily took our order. Prices were reasonable. Cooked in 20 mins. Minor quibbles, but nothing too noteable. 1. One entree was unavailable, which is something I think should be avoided given the very small menu. I suspect the timing was bad here and they may have run out?2. Would have liked more chicken in the main dishWill be back to give the other dishes a go. And overall the food was tasty, and well flavoured. Good Stuff :)

A 20 years old traditional Indian restaurant located in Hobart City.
Arrived as a walk in on a Thursday night. Was pretty quiet as we were early. Ordered main Beef Masala with complimentary rice , Garlic nann and an entre of chicken tikka and shared. We ended up taking some home. Generous portions, very nice food and good service. Wine list was small but good choices available. Food and a couple of wines were $60 so pretty cheap. Premises are a wee bit daggy but great value for money overall.
Delicious, healthy food with great flavours. The service was excellent, prices good, lovely atmosphere and I especially liked that our leftovers were put into eco friendly containers to take home rather than plastic. Lovely little place for a meal

Takeaway food here is very reliable, fresh and delicious. Atmosphere of the restaurant is a bit average- takeaway is the best option. Great Phad Thai. Would definitely recommend. Friendly service. Only issue is no eftpos (cash only) which is why I did not score as excellent.

Kin is Japanese inspired BBQ mixed with passion for local, seasonal produce and sake. A majority of the menu is cooked on a hibachi grill and can be enjoyed with an artisan sake, Japanese inspired cocktails or beer and wine.
We visited this place three weeks ago and it really knocked our socks off. Small little restaurant of only 11 seats which fits in with the Japanese theme of the place. The service was attentive, the drinks were superb. The wine we had was amazing, wish I could recall the name! Some great Sake on the menu too.Another thing worth mentioning is the value of this place, unbelievable really. I feel like this restaurant and the chef are going to go one to great things, so make sure you pay a visit to this place whilst it's in it's infancy and you will not be disappointed.

Went there last week for another impromptu lunch. Haven't been since the last review but will not be hurrying back. Service slow and the experience well disappointing to say the least. Food unexceptional. Will not be back in a hurry.

Bring the Japanese Gastro-pub to Hobart A welcoming, casual bar where you can share and enjoy great Japanese dishes along with a fully stocked bar specialising in Japanese sake, beers and cocktails. A truly Social dining experience.
Top venue that is always consistent and delivers on all fronts. Currently undergoing a substantial extension given its popularity, i suggest it will only get better. A wonderful and left field drink selection and fantastic array of food. The half price oysters between 3pm and 6pm are hugely popular and the potato salad is amongst the best going around.Awesome venue.
From Dim Sum to Mapo Tofu, the popularity of Chinese food in Hobart far surpassed localâs expectations. But what about Xiao Long Bao or the soup dumpling? The dish that is synonymous with the city of Shanghai, where a perfect intertwining of traditional a
Had the sliced fish with Sichuan pickled noodle soup. It was okay at the beginning but eventually found it was quite salty. Fish slices were fresh. Customer service was not great. I had to get my own chopsticks and spoon and napkin. Food was slow.
