As the Chinese takeouts in the area have gone steadily downhill in the past few years, at least in my experience, the Asian Tea House has become our go-to place for both takeout and for sit down meals. The restaurant is nicely decorated, there are a good number of choices, and the owner and people who work there are very friendly and accommodating.

Boy it’s taken us a long time to get here. On this cold blustery evening we lucked out. Well, kind of. We only had to walk half of a block in the cold wind after we found a parking place, and while the restaurant was jam packed full with five people standing inside waiting ahead of us, they were all in a single party and a booth for two opened up right away. Now it’s important to keep in mind that this former railcar-style diner (Miss Albany) is so old (1941) that the cold outside permeates the glass windows. Fortunately, there was a heater directly under our table to help offset some of that cold.My wife was happy to see that the place had been cleaned up considerably since it was last open as the Miss Albany Diner several years ago and the original character was still intact. There was a decent selection of craft beers available, even though they were out of the stout that I ordered. So we ended up with a pair of Chatham Brewing stalwarts – Czech’rd Past Pilsner and Farmer’s Daughter Rye IPA ($6 each). We started with the Roast Duck Buns ($7 for 2). The duck was tender and full of flavor while the buns were light, puffy and airy.My wife ordered the Tanpopo Spicy Ramen ($12) with an optional Seasoned Boiled Egg ($2). The Chashu pork was tender, the Tonkotsu broth was rich and only slightly spicy to allow all the other flavors to come across.I ordered the Roast Duck Ramen ($13) which comes in a chicken broth. But it wasn’t just any old chicken broth. Enriched by the chopped pieces of duck with both bone and fat intact, the broth was both rich and full of flavor. If you’re not accustomed to gnawing meat off of small chopped bones, or someone who eschews the fat and skin of the duck, this dish is not meant for you. Otherwise, the meat is tender and did I mention it adds much richness and flavor to the broth?Service is friendly and efficient even with a full house.

Headed to The Egg for an 8 pm performance and stopped here for dinner. Enjoyed the cheese platter with 3 cheeses of choice, fig jam and dots of honey--lovely presentation and delightfully tasty! The complimentary pretzel bites with hot mustard were addictive but we declined seconds as they are calorie laden! Hubby and I shared calamari which is probably the best we've ever had and chicken avocado egg rolls which I enjoyed but hubby does not like dishes with melted cheese. We each enjoyed a glass of wine. Our server, Austin, was spot on.Our only complaint is there is nothing to absorb the sound so it does get rather noisy, particularly on a busy Friday night! Parking on the side street is available and there is a charge until 6 PM. Looking forward to a return visit soon!

Service was outstanding and very friendly, and the sake martinis cocktails we had were delicious. Starter of gyoza was excellent and we shared a sushi and sashimi platter to follow. The platter is certainly enough for the two people stated. The fish was overchilled and almost certainly frozen so sushi snobs won’t be overly happy as it does kill the taste and mouthfeel. It was nicely presented though.

Smaller scale, very comfy, and intimate restaurant. It's very clean and elegant, and decorated to the 'flavor' of the establishment. They also do take out. Don't miss out on the chicken or beef pad thai! The miso soup is absolutely fantastic. And the edamame makes for a perfect appetizer. Super friendly staff as well! Makes you feel like you are on the other side of the world.

My husband and I were looking for a place close to home to have some sushi and hibachi and decided to try this restaurant and we are very glad we did. Their specialty rolls (we tried two - the Christmas Roll and Sexy on the Beach Roll) were out of this world. My husband had steak hibachi which includes rice, veggies, soup/salad, etc. and he said it was delicious and I had the spicy maki combo which was equally delicious. We chatted with the owner and the entire experience was one we'll have to duplicate because we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and we were about 3 minutes from home. Can't go wrong with that, right?

Stopped for some dinner. Casual and comfortable atmosphere. Friendly and helpful wait staff Very nice menu with something for everyone. The edamame was warm and perfectly cooked. The deep fried pork gyoza were excellent and tasty. The pan seared tofu was very good but had the same sauce as the chicken yakitori. The chicken yakitori was very good but had a similar sauce as the pan seared tofu. The shrimp and vegetable tempura was very good, perfectly cooked and artistically prepared. Reasonable priced menu choices. We'll be back.

Ordered take-out while staying in Albany area. Food was tasty. They have vegan options on the menu, but still good to check confirm. They are able to make items that would normally have fish sauce (such as Pad Thai/Gaeng Pangang) vegan, upon request...although it does take a bit longer. Place is kind of out of the way in what seemed like residential community and only saw street parking.
