I had a main dish of beef and chinese broccoli and it wasn't fantastic or bad but mediocre. There was enough beef and enough green vegetables with nice leafy branches but I thought it was a bit expensive and there was too much garlic, though diced up, on the chinese broccoli/guy lon. The BBQ ribs though were great. They selected the ribs that were the most round and least flat such that the ends had the least cartilage.

Every time I come here for lunch, I pick something from the Chinese menu. Yes, there are two menus. One in English and one in Chinese. The ones written in Chinese, I believe, does not have many of the Americanized dishes (General Tso, Sesame chicken etc). Due to cold weather, I wanted something soupy and warm and so I ordered Da Ru Mien (Mien=noodle), a northern Chinese dish. I have mixed feelings about the dish. According to food critics, the brothy part of the dish is called the "Ru" juice (Ru Ji). If a Da Ru noodle dish is well prepared, then when you pick the noddle up with a pair of chop sticks, the Ru juice will be shinny and stick on the noddle, instead of dripping down like soup. The Ru juice here does not do that. However, I am completely okay with it, since for the Ru juice to be thick enough to stick to the noddle, you need to add extra corn starch and for the Ru juice to appear glossy you need to add extra oil. I am very health conscious and I am personally happy with the Ru Juice they have here. However, two things that are no okay. First, they added some fresh veggie in there, which is fine. But the carrot is not cooked through and I personally dislike the smell of carrot. Second, and more importantly, the pork is gamy. They do give you enough pork slices (wrapped with corn starch so the texture would be slippery), but I personally don't think the pork is fresh. Da Ru Mien -- not a dish I would recommend.

This was our first visit to Takuma but it will not be the last. Interesting menu--not extensive, but quality. My wife and I enjoyed our meals, service was good. I really liked the atmosphere. Parking can be a challenge as they are competing with commuters adjacent to the train station. Location is central, however. Also, note that you must bring your own wine or beer.

We took my mother (age 95) to this restaurant for dinner this past weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Their food is extremely tasty and appears to be fairly authentic. It is also served in large portions by friendly waitresses...a totally great place! (And their fresh shrimp spring rolls are good too!)

The food tasted good. The price was very reasonable. We had been searching for a go-to Indian restaurant for a while and we've found it!The staff is attentive and polite. The buffet offers many choices. We went there around 1pm thinking it would be slower, but they struggled to keep up with clean plates as people just kept coming in! We'll definitely be back!

We had a wonderful celebration for our sonâs college graduation. We had 3 large tables of family and friends. We order a feast and shared family style. All our guests raved about and enjoyed the food. We had brought our own wine and beer plus a cake. The service was great and very attentive. We frequent the restaurant and knew the food was delicious, ordered 2 appetizers and 11 entrees, more than enough - and had leftovers. The location was perfect, in between home and Rutgers, convenient for family and friends who were not able to make the graduation. A shout out to Henry, who help us reserve tables and order the food, extremely nice. Thank you

Three of us tried Hunan Wok for dinner tonight because of what I read on Tripadvisor. This takeout/eat in restaurant is more takeout than anything. I was not impressed with the restaurant area which is just a long hall way with tables and not much else. The combination dinners we started eating were actually good, at least until an uninvited guest joined us for dinner, a COCKROACH. The little critter came down along the wall, jumped on our table and scurried around our plates until I got it with my paper napkin. Needless to say I lost my appetite. When we were paying the bill in the take out area I gave the cashier/server my napkin with cockroach and mentioned the problem and then notice another cockroach on the floor behind her in the kitchen. She nonchalantly picked it up with the napkin and said nothing; as if this wasnât first time this happened. This is the first time Iâve had to give a terrible rating, but there is no excuse for COCKROACHES! We wonât be back!

My son wanted his birthday party at a Japanese restaurant that had hibachi. Good place for a teenage party. This place serves both hibachi and sushi. The food is typical hibachi and the chef was entertaining but not as entertaining as other places we have been.My wife had sushi and said it was fresh and very good. The hibachi comes with a broth soup and a salad. The waiter was not particularly friendly or personable. That was a negative of the place. We brought our own birthday cake and they provided plastic forks and paper plates. The hostess took a picture of the table and came back 5 minutes later with a photo for my son as a gift. That was a nice touch. The restaurant keeps the temperature at a very cold temp due to the heat from the hibachi. If you are not sitting near a hibachi, it is very cold. You may want to bring a sweater. My wife was wearing her winter coat. The meal was slightly expensive. 9 people with 6 having soda came to $260 with tax and tip. I wish I could give this for stars but it does not merit that much.I also think it is better then three stars so I wish there was a way to give it 3 1/2 stars.

Came here for a farewell lunch at work. The three pepper chicken is really great and can spice up the whole dish. There are plenty of chopped green peppers (yes, they are hot for American standard) and I happily ate as much as my body can tolerate. The chicken was diced and fried in a thin batter first and then integrated to the dish. Very enjoyable. If you like to challenge yourself, try jelly fish salad (cold appetizer). Just jelly fish (crunchy texture) with some salt, vinegar, sesame oil and maybe sugar. It's a very popular dish in Asia.

First visit to this restaurant on a special Jazz night. Two sets, house was full because it is not very large. Food was above average, expensive for Chinese cuisine, but no cover and no minimum for the set of jazz by well established performers. Nice to enjoy jazz so close to home without hassle.
