New restaurant on high st. Good customer service and willing to modify their menu for Vegan. However, when you see the dishes they serve to other tables, we wonder, if they could or would be willing to do more for vegan customers? Would love to go again and see if the same cooking style can be applied to serve vegan food that looks, and tastes as delicious as the none vegan dishes.Thank you for your thoughtful review sir. Vegan has so many level, if they are very strictly, they won't be able to eat any flavoring agents apart from salt and sugar. If you ever come in next time, let me know you are the one who wrote this review, I want to see you in person and want to know what you have ordered as a vegan dishes that were not delicious as none Vegan. My palate was satisfied but if my hair and clothes could talk .. bigger exhaust please or open some windows. For around $15 you'll be treated with some authentic Thai food; Crispy Pork Belly and Greens on Rice, Pad Thai, curries and the like. Crispy Pork Belly can be overcooked sometimes but that spicy sauce made up for it.This is where the legendary "student" & "office workers" go to place for lunch m Zab Thai, Lido Hawthorn has moved into. Mear Wattle Park, corner block, right on the traffic light, a bit hard to locate but definitely worth the trip and washing your clothes, shampoo and shower after.

After much searching for a good Yum Cha in the outer east of Melbourne, we came upon Gold Leaf in East Burwood. Since the closure of Taipan, our continual search finally gave us a great Yum Cha again. The Gold Leaf offers great variety of dishes, well cooked and well presented. You can tell by the presence of many Asian families that our search has been successful. Tripe, chickens feet and whitebait are typical of the asian fare that excites our palate. Although the restaurant is quite big, service is quick and efficient. If you want a particular dish, ask the waiter to get it for you.Licensed or byo (corkage is reasonable), our stay was most enjoyable. Two sittings for lunch suits both the early bird and the linger longer diners. I suggest the 1.30pm sitting if you want the latter.Very happy with everything at Gold Leaf and will be returning soon.

We have irregular dinners here with a group of ex work colleagues. This time there were 8. We always start with a mixed selection of dumplings - ask for their chilli in oil that they make on the premises for something different. 6 dumplings later we shared 4 meals and after that we were seriously full. The service is always friendly and courteous, the dumplings are delicious and the meals are tasty and cooked perfectly. They know exactly what they are doing which is why they win so many awards!

As first time diners on a recommendation, we couldn't fault this lovely restaurant. Our waitress was absolutely wonderful, service prompt and food, beyond expectations. Vegetarian can be hit and miss in some cafes however this fare was very much hit. My entree of tofu rice paper rolls were exquisite. Veggie Pad Thai as a main was lovely too. Recommended.

We've been coming here for a long time and have always had a great time. The food is fantastic, and a refreshing change from the run-of-the-mill suburban Thai restaurants that dot our area. However we had our first bad experience recently. An overseas guest was allergic to nuts and sesame and we were assured they would not put any of those in our dishes. Sure enough, every single dish came out covered in peanuts, cashews and sesame. To their credit, the restaurant cooked every dish again for us, but this could have easily been avoided.

TIP. Restaurant is on Stephensons Road. Large car park at rear, with rear pedestrian entrance into restaurant.Smart looking table cloths. Two of us sat in a 4 person booth - nice, comfy, roomy seating. Long tables are available for small groups. At 6pm on this Saturday there were plenty of spare seats.TIP. BYO wine is permitted, but $7 per bottle corkage. The in-house wines are reasonably priced, so leave the BYO at home. Wines available by the glass. Beers available. Food is Hakka style (region in SE China) with Swedish influence. The #5 Hakka Fried Prawns with Steve's spicy Hakka dipping sauce were a delicious entree, and the Masala (spicy) Fish main course (pictured) was absolutely scrumptious - so full of spicy flavours - with Egg Rice side dish. And the Swedish Cake w ice cream for dessert was really good also. We'll have to go back again.

Judging by the reviews, we must have dined on a bit of an off night. The decor is very nice; parking plentiful; the restaurant was clean; and staff a little slow to take our order initially, but the meals rolled on in good time. The food was the let down on this occasion. Mixed entree was a nice start, although the fish pattie was limp and a bit oily. The main of Porterhouse steak was written to arrive on a sizzling plate, as we see countless times in a Chinese restaurant, but it was not sizzling. The steak was a bit chewy, served blue, which we dont mind at all, but somewhat a let down. The Chicken Curry was average, certainly edible, but not a "wow" sauce that we were looking for. Roti bread was poor, in my opinion. Thin and oily. We all have off nights, perhaps it was just us, and I do admit that we tend to dine at city Thai restaurants, so perhaps we are just used to a slightly higher calibre of Thai, and maybe this comparison is unfair.
