Grew up with a Chinese girlfriend that had an Aunt and Uncle that owned a Chinese restaurant. They spoiled us and cooked all our favorites and some things that were not on the menu. Since they retired we have tried all the Chinese restaurants weamw upon. Non compared. Until now. This was the best Chinese food we've had in 30 years. It's in a strip mall near shop rite, kohls and Home Depot.Excellent, authentic Chinese food.

Valentine roll today. So delish and adorable too. Family had their standard sesame chicken, which is all white meat and not greasy, and teriyaki salmon which was done nicely. Love that brown rice is always an option and still delicious. Lovely prompt service. Try the hot and sour soup! I feel like there's so much goodness in that it could cure cancer!

Took the granddaughters. The hibachi tuna and chicken were delicious. Rice, noodles and vegetables were all tasty. The cook put on a good show. The desserts of fried banana, tempura cheesecake and mochi ice cream were great. Busy place, be sure to make reservations.

We were visiting a friend in Hackettstown and wanted a no-fuss meal for the three of us. We parked, ordered our food, then went across the street to kill time in a very nice Salvation Army Thirft store. Can't say enough nice things about the folks who work the reigster there. Anyway, back to HK Palace to retrieve our food. There were patrons dining there whose conversations with the wait staff were cordial and pleasant and the patrons seemed to be enjoying whatever they had. Our food being ready, the lovely gal at the register checked us out with good wishes for a great rest of the day. Only a short ride to our friends place--our food was still warm when we arrived. The beef with orange was good and had small pieces of orange peel in it--tasty sauce, not spicy. The dumplings were good, Our friend enjoyed his egg roll and chicken fried rice. The spring roll was also crunchy and delicious. We will do this again and there was plenty to take home for the next day!

The building was built in 1870, it was one of the first post office in town, that is why we name the place TOPO it's stand for "the old post office". Inside the restaurant is has modern feeling. Each table equipped with water spigot, electrical outlet and
We found the staff (owner) very friendly and accommodating to those at our table with food allergies. The food was fresh, vegetables perfectly cooked, and broths very tasty, (How many times have I gotten a broth soup and the broth is tasteless?) Comfortable settings, and happy to welcome children. Definitely recommend. We'll be back when we visit the area.

You know you are in for a great dining experience as you walk up to the front door when the marvelous aromas is the dishes being prepared inside find themselves filtering to the outside. Dining room very pleasantly appointed and well maintained. We were greeted quickly and personably and all throughout our meal we were well taken care of by the wait staff. The 3 of us all chose a wide assortment of appetizers and entrees and all enjoyed their choices as well as everything shared with and from the other 2. We were making plans for our return trip before we left the table! This restaurant is THAT good!

We had the California Sushi Roll and Beef Lomein dinner. Both were excellent. This restaurant was a welcome surprise after a long day on the road. The venue was spotless, It was attached to a Quality Inn which made it very convenient for us. The service was excellent and we will return.

I come here for sushi frequently because it is convenient based on where I live, but the quality is not great, it is fairly overpriced, and the staff is usually rude and abrupt. Nothing has ever been spoiled or tasted less-than-fresh, but the sushi here just never tastes as good to me here as it does elsewhere. Came here for hibachi once and we were pretty disappointed in all aspects of the meal-- much better hibachi options elsewhere. Would give sushi 3.5/5 , hibachi 2/5.

West lake is not by any means a fancy place. You might even be turned off if you pick up from there, but the staples: Shrimp w Lobster sauce, Sesame Chicken (w Brown Rice), Spare ribs, Egg foo young, are delicious .. the specials are not very good.I love how the young kid who picks up the phone, takes your orders. He listens, doesn't ask any questions, no matter how big your order is, and he remembers it perfectly, first listen ... try getting that service anyplace else, especially when ordering Chinese food over the phone. My family always jokes about their deliveries because they're so fast. My sister suggests they are psychic and that they cook the food along the way, seriously, that's how fast their deliveries are when you get off the phone. I have ordered from West Lake for years. They have the best Chinese, take out (the staples) in the area.

The Pandan Room restaurant is serving Thai and Indonesian Cuisine in Hackettstown area since July 2006. Thank you all for your support and regular visits.Reservations recommended especially on Friday and Saturday night.
Liked it very much. A first-time diner, I am always concerned with the definition of "Mild," "Hot," and "Very Hot," at Asian restaurants. There is just no way to translate the eatery's opinion to yours. I chose "Mild." The next time (and there will be a next time!), I will go for "Hot."Michael Gesner, The Wandering Gourmet, Broadway, New Jersey
