Spur of the moment visit.Restaurant has attractive decor and reasonable space between tables.Waiting staff are friendly and know their menu.We shared entrees of Gyoza,Harumaki and Calamari. Our main was Ebi Tempura, six large plump prawns with battered vegetables.Everything we had was nicely cooked and delicious.BYO is always a plus.
The usual Vietnamese dishes like Pho, noodles etc are available and tastey. The special's board always has a good range of choices, as does the normal menu.BYO makes this café a great choice without breaking the bank and there are several bottle shop options nearby. The owners and staff are attentive and fun to deal with and they really do appreciate your custom. This place should be a "long lifer" in Black Rock as it is the first Viet' café and goes well alongside other Asian fare options. It is a good option for Clover lovers wanting to try something a little different.

Madoljai restaurant is located in the heart of the Bayside area in Beaumaris, Melbourne. Serving exquisite Thai cuisine, bringing the delightful flavours of Thailand. In our recipes and menu, we are searching and rediscovering the treasure of Thai food an
This is not your average Thai restaurant in a suburb, definitely more refinded & westernized, dont expect your local Thai restaurant prices either.Food is delicious, Fresh Oysters with Nahm Jim, Coconut crumbed tiger prawns, braised lamb in Panang curry are all superb, however portions of main are on the small side, our 16 yrs old almost never order dessert in a restaurant, but he certainly had room for dessert that day, hollow legs I guess. Here comes the big letdown of the evening, for $29 Fried soft shell crab & Spanner crab salad had only 1 fried soft shell crab on the top & I struggled to find any spanner crab meat, not to mention it came after we almost finished all other mains.Saturday night the restaurant is not full, services was a bit slow, staff were very attentive & friendly, overall we enjoyed our dinner. Thank you for taking the time to write the review about our restaurant. We feel very sorry that you were not completely happy with the dish and timeliness of service. Due to our high standard for food quality, our selected ingredients cost more than average Thai and other Asian restaurants therefore prices on our menu tend to also be more upward. However we fully understood your point and have passed the message to our kitchen staff so we all can improve next times. Thank you for choosing Madoljai and we hope to see you again in the near future. Regards Madoljai Management

We have been welcomed on the door with smile. Service was very good. There have been some changes, have they changed ownership or management?! Chicken spring rolls have been very nice so Mieng Kum. Fish cake was ok but nothing special. Pad Khing chicken was disappointment. Basil Beef stir fry and pork Panang curry very nice. All together nice night out. We shall go back.

There have been significant changes to Siam Spicy since last we visited. From the outside, the venue looks much more inviting. The interior has been remodelled to provide "booth" seating for four (possibly six?) diners and there are two window tables for couples. These changes provide a degree of privacy and isolation from the mayhem that is the open dining area which can be very noisy on a busy night.Service is a bit rushed and somewhat intrusive but not impolite. The food has also improved. We opted for a mixed entrée which provided a good cross-section of the menu and was great value and of flavoursome quality. Mains were pretty much basic, standard Thai cuisine, high in flavour, reasonable quantity but really nothing out of the ordinary and later on in the night there was that dry thirst that often results from Asian cuisine. It is strange however that any restaurant, having gone to such lengths to upgrade and enhance the dining experience, should spoil the evening with a piece of dubious practice when it comes to the Bill. Corkage was charged at an exorbitant $28.00. Four of us shared two bottles of wine. For this "service" did they open the wine? Well, no. Did they pour or top up? No again. Did they change glasses between bottles? Sadly, not even that! When questioned, the wait staff advised that we were charged "per glass" - whatever that meant? Pushed further, she retreated, returning with a revised Bill charging corkage at $14.00.As I said, when you put so much effort into rebranding, why spoil it for a few dollars?

Found by my wife and we've eaten there 3 times in the last 2 months. really enjoy the food here and we've settled into a routine now. Starters is usually Chicken satay and spring rolls. Very nice and standard fare. Then when we order a main, each person orders a different dish and an appropriate amount of rice and roti bread is also ordered and then we all share. My fave is the green chicken curry , but to be honest, everything ive tried has been very tasty and i cant knock any of the dishes. The staff are extremely polite, friendly , attentive and always topping up your water. Plus they don't let finished dishes clutter the table. Decor and vibe is very good and its BYOB, so can be a cheap night out if you want it to be. i.e. last weekend the cost of a meal for me and the wife with plenty of wine was $80. excellent value. The only thing that needs improving is the menus. they are looking tired and tacky . Also the desserts ( whilst nice) dont really get my tastebuds excited ( but hey , that could just be me) . All in all, a great little place to go for a meal , recommended.

Thai Rani Restaurant, 177 Bluff Road, Black Rock, VictoriaThis is our fourth review of the Thai Rani (over three years) and the second time this year, notwithstanding weâve probably eaten at our favourite local Thai restaurant 4-5 times during the year. Had a camera available this time â it has provided some photographs that have been attached. Everything we said in May18 (and earlier) counts; this is one small friendly place in which to enjoy Thai cuisine. Should have checked on that earlier review too â forgot our BYO bottle of wine this time.Park across Bluff Road in Tulip Street and thereâs the Thai Rani at the end of a small block of commercial shops with white painted façade and a bright red coloured sun shade above the door and windows; name board up there under the roof line.Inside thereâs a tasteful decor of brown, cream and orange with a couple of elegant filigree chandeliers hanging at centre; the place is compact, but the height of the ceiling provides that feeling of spaciousness. The counter, bar, kitchen, utilities & toilets are at the rear. The rear wall/divider features a decorative motive of stylized Thai figurines choreographed in procession, some of whom are playing musical instruments. At centre is a small Buddha seated on a fire box stand with a fountain trickling into stones around his feet.Evening and the place was relatively empty; the friendly woman intercepted us menus in hand before we were half-way to the counter. We shared a family table for three on a bleak Thursday â remnants of winter hanging around - with our table booked for 20.00 hours â the window table in the corner that we had requested â the only one in the restaurant.Seating for >40 and the restaurant had a dozen diners during our 1.5 hours there. Quiet this time too â in May weâd remarked at the noise from a restaurant that had been nearly full â people this evening mainly in couples and one family group.Down to the low teens degC outside but warm inside and, notwithstanding those great food options (and, equally, notwithstanding that we had been in Bangkok for a few days in October) we tended to follow our favourite menu choices, starting with a shared entrée â veggie spring rolls (one serving/two each) followed by three mains: 1. Gang dang: red curry â pork and vegetables cooked in coconut milk; 2. Pud khing/stir fry with chicken base and ginger, onions & mixed vegetables; and 3. Bai v. stir fry â a typical side dish or one complemented by meat. For sides we had two helpings of coconut rice and two roti with peanut sauce. To complement the food we drank table water and our favourite Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. This was lots of food with three plates, and we could have managed with two mains except â¦. we knew from earlier that requesting a doggy box at the end of the meal would, two nights later, enable us to enjoy Thai cuisine second time round. It was equally delicious. Our bill came to A$91.40. Weâd eaten much the same in May and paid AU$82.50 â 10% less, which is an indication of the differences between buying wine by the glass and that BYO bottle with AU$3 corkage. Next time then.Table and counter staff were polite â attentive and helpful. We declined dessert/coffee because there was no way we needed to eat more? Half-dozen meals at the Thai Rani in recent times says it all â friendly table, delicious cuisine and good value; in sum an easy and pleasant evening.Peter Steele10 December 2018

Great local restaurant. We have been there a multiple time. Once with kids, and three other times with friends.Food was great, except for one time, when we ordered Salt & the Pepper Squid Salad. Squid wasn't good, it has a smell. We return it, but they didn't offer us anything else and charged us for it...We will definitely will go there again, but no squid for us next time :)
