Paleis Het Loo

Paleis Het Loo in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. The palace is currently being renovated and will be re-opened in 2021, but you are more than welcome to the gardens, stables, restaurants and our events!

We went to see the castle during this Summer's heatwave in Holland. The castle was closed due to comprehensive restoration work, which will end with the opening of a modern museum at the castle grounds in 2021, but the gardens and the rooftop terrace were open. When you're in, a lift takes you to the roof, from where the amazing garden opens in all its splendor. The hedges and flowers in the garden are laid out in intricate patterns, and around the garden you'll find various sculptures in relation to myths and sculptures from classical antiquity. Beautiful fountains dot the grounds, and you can spend quite some time wandering around looking at all the various details in the flowers, sculptures and fountains. The garden is incredibly well kept. The palace is usually closed on Mondays, although there may be exceptions. The price of an adult ticket is 8,5 euro.

Museum MORE

Reviewed By andrei_petrescu - Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Museum MORE is a Dutch museum in Gorssel, Netherlands. The display of the paintings and exhibits it is totally worth it, even though the location of the museum is not very convenient and takes some time to travel. The paintings guide you through a diversity of emotions and the realism of the exhibits is unbelievable. Museumkaart is valid for a discount on the entrance ticket. I enjoyed my visit here and do recommend to add the museum on to visit list in Netherlands.

And stunning Mathilde Willink dresses exhibited in a pristinely restored castle. The dichotomy between the subject and the background of the artist’s work is provocative. The castle’s new woodwork is a joy to the eye. Very much worth the visit.

Lalique Museum

The Lalique Museum, located in the historic town of Doesburg, is entirely devoted to the Da Vinci of jewellery and glass art of Rene Lalique (1860-1945 ). Among others, the collection comprises gold and glass jewellery, vases and hundreds of unique perfumebottles created and designed by Rene Lalique. Visitors are welcomed in two monumental buildings with a warm and unique character. A must see for art nouveau and art deco lovers.

I had included the visit of this small museum on my holiday list ,being a fan of Art Nouveau and Art Deco.I first met Rene Lalique in Lisbon ,in The Gulbenkian Museum a few years ago .I was so surprised to read on Trip Advisor about the existence of a private collection of the artist ...where ? in the house of an old wine merchant in a hanseatic town .I used a museum card . Those stairs really ''killed me'' ....I had to ask for help to go upstairs ...at the moment of my visit there were many visitors inside ,the space is too narrow .I wanted to find some English documentation ,but a kind lady showed me a book in Dutch about the history of the collection ,I suppose.Upstairs I could admire the collection of glass vases ,and other items .The second exhibition is in another bulding ,over the street.I really enjoyed the exhibition , go there if you like glasswork .
