We have been there yesterday and we loved it so much..As soon as we entered the place this charming lady explained to us what was going on, and we founded super helpful and interesting. So one more time thank you Andrea !! I have really enjoyed watching Kelcy Taratoa Work it was worthy to see it. It was nice to see also how many artists keep pursing the brutal past of Maori through their works, there was a commemoration exhibition of the 155th Anniversary of the battle of gate pa on. Most importantly it was very interesting to watch a video of a lady that still now a days keep on working a type of tree to make clothes out of it. Using technics From the past . Price of ticket for internation 7 dollars.. Otherwise free donations .

Whether you want to buy art, attend a workshop, see a movie, get a haircut, host a meeting, get married, use a social service or get in some retail therapy from one of our boutique shops, you need to experience what is on offer here at one of Tauranga’s best kept secrets. You will find an amazing collection of original and replica buildings from early Tauranga nestled in amongst gorgeous gardens and natural bush surrounds. Seven indoor and outdoor venues are available for hire to accommodate meetings, functions and special events. The Historic Village grounds are open seven days a week and entry is free.
We called in to the village market and just stayed. The village was open (free entry) and the market was fine as were the shops. We sat at the Whipped Baker cafe on the corner, listened to the old time music from 1XT, the AM radio station that broadcasts from the village, enjoyed god coffee, enormous sausage roll with really nice atmosphere and ambience. A trip down memory lane and a great place to spend a Sunday morn.
