For anyone with a passion for art, architecture and mystery, you must not miss the Mirislav Paral Gallery! I was fortunate to stay in Český Krumlov for a month, and thought I had experienced all of Český’s highlights, but this gallery, situated in the deep, dark bowels of the castle, was an exquisite surprise. Not only can you see the moving and expressive figurative sculptures and drawings of Czech artist Mirislav Paral, you can also explore the circuitous stone catacombs upon which the castle was built over the centuries. All this with a background of enchanting music! Paral’s sculptures are beautifully placed throughout the many underground rooms, lit dimly, accentuating the messages and symbolism in his dark, yet whimsical work. Paral’s life has spanned the Communist occupation of the Czech Republic through the post-Velvet Revolution era, and his work speaks deeply of this pivotal transition. So step off the crowded and beaten tourist path, and experience the raw, hidden underbelly of Český Krumlov!

The concept of the ,,Gallery to play" is the most important part of the Písek Sladovna programme. Exhibits and programmes of the Gallery to play are primarily designed for children and ,,their" adults where children meet art and art meets children. However, the works of art are purposefully open to direct interaction with visitors, so that children and adults alike can touch everything, get inside art installations, play with their framework and sometimes even enter the stories and experience them. Just like entering a computer game: in the Gallery to play you can enter a story and play in the real world, together with others, again, here and now. We believe that ,,play - here and now - together with real children and adults" is the basic and most natural quality that our children need to acquire in today's world of endless possibilities of the virtual reality.

One of the most significant art museums of the Czech Republic, known for its gothic arts' collection. Through the year, AJG offers many different exhibitions and events.
The South Bohemian Art Gallery near the Hlubovka Castle provides a remarkable space dedicated to art. The permanent collection mixes Middle Age and Renaissance (mostly religious) art with modern 20th century Czech art in a dialog that shows that there are no time borders in thematic and artistic continuity. The current temporary exhibitions are also remarkable. The space is generous, the presentation excellent, and the taste of the curators seem to be high class. A place that deserves more fame.

There is a permanent interactive educative exhibition dedicated to the Trebon fishpond building heritage and to the personality of the fishpond builder and architect Stepanek Netolicky. Besides the permanent exhibition, Stepanek Netolicky House also offers gallery spaces suitable for short-time exhibitions.
