The Art Room supplies Art materials and much more. We have an exciting gallery area where you can view lots of artists work. We have increased our services to include mounting and framing along with commissions. Looking for something that bit different come along and explore the unique gifts we have to offer.
A big thank you to Delia for allowing me to run a Monet Magic workshop at The Art Room. Great space, lovely atmosphere and nice and warm. You couldn’t have been more accommodating with cups of tea & coffee thrown in. And a big thank you to Dawn at the Carers Support Service for organising. I hope the carers enjoyed the session - they all did a great job on a deceptively simple picture, ‘Poplars on the Epte, 1891.’ If anyone is a carer and in need of some support I can highly recommend Dawn’s service too. I also have another small workshop running next week at the same venue (2 places left) see poster for details!

Ailsa Nicholson is a well established fused glass and ceramic artist. All her work is handmade in her workshop and displayed in a beautiful little on site gallery which is open to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10.30am - 4pm. Debit/credit card facilities are available (prices range from £2.00 - £500.00).
We were looking for a very special gift for. Retirement present. On seeing what we were looking for on social media. We made an appointment ( although not require on most days when the studio is open ) and visited. We were shown a selection of items to choose from. We already knew what we wanted and happily made our order. A few weeks after we received a message to say it was ready for collection. To say we were pleased would be an understatement. It has ‘Pride of Place’ in our garden room where this sun highlights its beauty. And this has even a talking point for all visitors. Fully recommended for that ‘Something Special’.

The working Gallery & Studio of acclaimed and emerging artist Adrian Wright. Ady (as he likes to be called) is making quite a stir with his art. Come meet him, learn from him and stay a while. Relaxing atmosphere, great food, coffee, drinks and cakes.

We passed this gallery several times on our way to and from our hotel. Fascinated by the surreal style of this artist, we finally ventured inside to see more. Based on local scenes, this artist offers alternative and amusing insights into nearby views. You can see something different every time you study her work. Excellent!

There are some beautiful, detailed paintings from various members of the Wetherall family which are an absolute joy to see, showing scenes of Whitby life back in the 1800s.

The Gallery had a special exhibition on Wilfred Owen when I visited which was a fabulous bonus to the wonderful art here. The Entry fee is so reasonable and is valid at the Rotunda Museum too. Well worth visiting.
