Situated in the former Capucins convent of Landerneau, the FHEL – Fonds Hélène & Édouard Leclerc pour la Culture – has received more than 1,000,000 visitors. Since it opened its doors in 2012, it has become the top cultural destination in Western France and is today a must-see not only for contemporary art enthusiasts, but also for an increasingly diverse public. Founded in the autumn of 2011, the FHEL is an endowment fund run by an administrative council and chaired by Michel-Édouard Leclerc. On the initiative of numerous members of the Leclerc family, members and former members of Mouvement E.Leclerc, together with other individuals, the fund is entirely financed by donations from private patrons.
