Top 10 Arenas & Stadiums in California, United States

October 5, 2021 Sachiko Swiger

California is a fertile, peaceful place where you’ll find a near-equal balance of vineyards and deserts, beaches and mountains, hippies and traditionalists. Catch an epic wave in Big Sur or swirl a glass in Napa Valley. Be dazzled by the Joshua Tree night sky or just star-gaze in Hollywood. Swish down the slopes of a Tahoe ski resort, or cruise across the Golden Gate Bridge with the top down and the music blasting. Above all, don’t forget to soak up some Golden State sunshine.

This imposing edifice on the campus of California State University Long Beach, is one of only three pyramid-shaped buildings in the U.S. and is used for various functions including sporting events, gymnasium, conferences, weddings and filming for movies and commercials.

Petco Park

Named the #1 Ballpark in America by USA Today in 2016! Petco Park is spectacular in every way, combining the best sight lines in baseball with breathtaking views of San Diego. Architecturally magnificent, it celebrates the sea, the sky, the natural beauty, cultural diversity and unique spirit of our region. We’ve made a concerted effort to not only make this the best ballpark in America, but also one of the best entertainment destinations. Located in downtown San Diego, its surrounded by a plethora of bars and restaurants and is within walking distance of the Convention Center, Seaport Village and Waterfront Park.

We’ve been to at least 10 other MLB stadiums and I have to say this and the Giants stadium are the two nicest. We viewed the game from 4 different locations in the stadium and all were great views. There are lots of activities for the kids out in center field and if weather is good, sit out on the grass hill in center and the view is awesome. I hope the Oakland A’s new stadium is half as nice as this one!

Dodger Stadium

Being a Dodger's fan my wife and i were eager to check out the Stadium with a Stadium tour. For only 20 dollars per person, you get a fabulous deal. Our very knowledgeable guide led us on a very fascinating tour, into the press box, where you could almost hear Vin Scully, through to the locker rooms, the dugout, onto the field. You could look up and imagine what it's like, with a full house packing the stadium. We saw a great collection of Dodger memorabilia, reproductions of tickets to the stadium (25 cents for a bleacher seat!!), gold gloves, and a whole slew of other great memories. A must see for you Dodger fans, and even if you aren't, it's a great look inside the third oldest stadium in the major leagues.

Had the distinct pleasure of taking in a Kings hockey game while in LA last weekend. As a first time visitor to the Staples Center, I was impressed. Seating was comfortable, admission was smooth and professionally handled. There were plenty of venues for food and drink. A great time was had by all!

Went to see the New Kids on The Block amongst others here, I planned to park in the premium but I got there too late for that, so I ended up parking in the General lot. It wasn't too bad, the walk wasn't bad, the only thing was they didn't have markers to say where you parked. At the end of the night it was super easy to get out. Inside they had turned some of the men's restrooms into women's being there were mostly women at the concert so it wasn't too long of a line. Concessions lines weren't too bad. The sound for the show was great! I was sitting in section 225 row J, which were amazing seats. They had another smaller stage they came on throughout the show that was almost right in front of me. All in all this was a great place to see a concert.

Angel Stadium of Anaheim

We were so lucky to have such a wonderful night at the ballpark. The weather was beautiful! The best part of the evening, which unfortunately I don't have a photo of, was the nachos! They can in a Los Angeles Angels plastic baseball hat! It was a life size hat. Besides the nachos don't purchase your tickets in advance. There are plenty available online on third websites such as Stubhub the day of the game for less then face value! Parking is also not an issue. There were plenty of spots with limited walking distance to the stadium.
