Tbilisi (English: /təbɪˈliːsi, təˈbɪlɪsi/ tə-bih-LEE-see, tə-BIL-ih-see; Georgian: თბილისი [tʰbilisi] ( listen)), in some countries also still named by its pre-1936 international designation Tiflis (/ˈtɪflɪs/ TIF-liss), is the capital and the largest city of Georgia, lying on the banks of the Kura River with a population of approximately 1.5 million people. Founded in the 5th century AD by Vakhtang I of Iberia, since then Tbilisi served as the capital of various Georgian kingdoms and republics. Between 1801 and 1917, then part of the Russian Empire, Tbilisi was the seat of the Imperial Viceroy, governing both Southern and Northern Caucasus.

This artistic building is best viewed from local venues such as a bridge - Nikoloz Baratashvili Bridge or the bridge Saarbruecken (dry Bridge), or maybe the river bank on the opposite side to the Mushroom building. Its worth a look as its different architecture, if this is your thing. However "looking" at it is the be all end all :-) The purpose of this building is a government Public service buildling, so normally the only people who enter the building is Georgian people or Business people. If you are on vacation, i recomend a view from the Bridge, a Ice cream whilst viewing and a glass of Georgian wine to discuss!

At the very beginning of Tbilisi's affluent "Rustaveli Avenue", almost in front of the "Georgian National Museum", stands the former "House of Government". Built in the traditional Georgian architectural style, its monumental arcade - splendidly lit in the evenings - catches all passerby attention. It was built between 1933 and 1938, as a project of architects Viktor Kokorin and Giorgi Lezhava. Later on, around 1946 and 1953, the building was enlarged by architect Vladimer Nasaridge. The building was severely damaged during the 1991/1992 military coup and, after restoration, it started to house the "Parliament of Georgia" in 1997. It is normally not opened to visitors, but you can make nice pictures from the outside, principally in the evenings, with all its lights on. Enjoy!

This is another project by famous Italian architects Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas in Tbilisi! They are also responsible for the awesome (and nearby) "Tibilisi Public Service Hall". The "Music Theatre and Exhibition Hall" is located inside the green area of the "Rhike Park", in the left bank of "Mtkvari River". It consists of two different buildings, connected as a unique body, but each having its own function: a music theatre and an exhibition hall. It was completed in 2016 and occupies an area of 10,000m², overlooking "Mtkvari River" and the "Old Town". Tbilisi's "Presidential Palace" is right above and the exquisite "Bridge of Peace" is right in front! Combine your visit and stroll along all these architectural landmarks of modern Tbilisi. As of September 2019, the "Music Theatre and Exhibition Hall" was closed for visitors. But even only from outside, it is just jaw-dropping! Enjoy!
