The largest of the twelve Dodecanese islands on the Aegean's eastern edge, Rhodes is also its most popular. The well-preserved medieval city of Rhodes sits at the north of the island of the same name. High rise hotels line the northern and eastern coastlines. Small villages and resorts dot the island's other shores. Whether your interests are beaches, bars or ancient sites, Rhodes offers an abundance of all three. Authentic Greece can be found in the hilly interior of the 50-mile-long island.

Late Byzantine church containing 15th century frescoes. In the beginning of the 20th Century the dome almost collapsed but it was rebuilt by the Italian Regime and because of this restauration the dome has no Frescoes anymore. Very nice and a must see when in Rhodes!

Constructed during the first years of the Italian occupation by the Italian architect Florestano di Fausto. It is located on the Liberty Square (Platia Eleftherias) and a nice example of the Rennaisance Eclecticism and the "Finta Pietra" technology. Richly decorated facade with reliefs carved on local poros stone. The place to be to buy Stamps. Staff inside is very friendly and helpfull.

Plenty to see, buy, eat and drink and it's right alongside the harbour and a stone's throw from the Old Town as well as the bus station and the new town for shopping.
