There’s an Arabic inscription that captures the essence of Granada in a few words: “There is nothing so sad as to be blind in Granada.” The perspicacity of this declaration becomes obvious as soon as you penetrate the austere walls of the Alhambra and take in the full majesty of the architecture, carvings and fountains of the Nasrid palaces. Your ticket (which should be bought well in advance following the instructions on the attraction’s website) also affords entry to the Renaissance Palace of Carlos V and to the exquisite gardens of the Generalife. If you are celebrating a special event, or are in the market for a splurge, you can stay in the lovely Parador, right on site. Make your way down into the city via the atmospheric old quarter of the Albaicin, with its tiny craft shops and restaurants, and head for the Cathedral and Royal Chapel. Also plan a visit to the crypt for the tombs of Ferdinand and Isabella, the instigators of Spain’s imperial adventures to the New World and beyond. It’s worth making the short journey out of town to visit the Monasterio Cartuja, a fabulous Carthusian monastery in the baroque style. Admirers of the poet Lorca should make the effort to visit the Casa-Museo Federico Garcia Lorca in Fuente Vaqueros, about 11 miles from the city centre.

This is one of the most beautiful tours we can do near Granada. Known as Ruta del Gollizno, it is a tour of great environmental value, passing through enclaves of the highest historical importance around the town of Moclín and Los Olivares. The route is a walk through the history of the settlement of Moclín, from its cave paintings and with incredible external views of its castle and walls. During the tour you can enjoy the beauty of the landscape from its four viewpoints, cross the Río Velillos through the puente colgante and the pedestrian bridge recently restored, visit the rock paintings near the Fuente Corcuela. We enter the "Tajos de la Hoz", a natural gorge excavated by the constant flow of waters that, together with the exuberant coastal vegetation, will bring a pleasant sensation to the path.

Discover the two most authentic and authentic neighborhoods of Granada: the Albaicín and the Sacromonte. First, we will go to the Albaicín, an old Muslim quarter, declared a World Heritage Site, that will take us to the viewpoint of San Nicolás, with the best views of the Alhambra. Later, we will enter the Sacromonte neighborhood, recognizable by its caves, where minority groups came to settle after the Castilian conquest. Currently the Sacromonte has a great relationship with the art of flamenco, since the caves were reused by the gypsy community for that purpose.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! QR code Tickets from MyTopTour are not valid when you want to enter and visit Alhambra. Mytoptour did send us tickets but not valid for the Alhambra’s entrance staff and technology. So we had to call them 5x to finally get an answer and the final official PDF tickets. On the phone, they pretend to only speak spanish and not English which is a shame for a travel company, just to avoid to help tourists in case of trouble. Because of the false tickets, we missed the slot to visit the palace and had to wait 1h30... Price is a full scam, they sell tickets with audio guide for 32€ while on Alhambra’s official website you can have the exact same access and audioguide for 21€ per person. They charge you 11€ for no reason and don’t refund when you discover the cheat!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND MY TOP TOUR!!! AVOID THIS COMPANY OR YOU WILL HAVE A BAD EXPÉRIENCE AT ALHAMBRA

The Albaicin and Sacromonte walking tour is a must for a visit to Granada. The views of the city from this location are incredible. Our tour guide was Josh. He was very knowledgable about the history of the area and his English was excellent. The only issue was that he walked very fast. We asked him if he could slow down a bit. This tour has many stairs and going up hill was very strenuous. You really have to be in great shape to do it. One of my friends has compromised lungs and it was very difficult for her. Going a bit more slowly would have helped. He did wait for us, however at each stop. He did not leave us where we left from, although it was close. We knew where we were but there were a couple of young gals who had no idea. All in all, it was worth the time and money.

Spent an excellent morning with Baruch Fahey learning about Jewish history in Granada and generally in Spain. But since there is virtually no Jewish relic left to be seen, we learned a lot about the city's overall history. We went to some fantastic viewpoints and some beautiful parts of the Albayzin. Baruch is highly educated on Jewish history. He was more than happy to take photos of us and answer our many questions. He's a super smart guy and has a great sense of humor. It ended up being a private tour the day we booked. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in the Jewish history of Spain. It was very informative and fun.
