Carousel Restaurant adds elegance and ambiance to Yakima. Providing traditional French Cuisine and Bistro options, pairings and fine dining. We offer catering and special events as well. Reservations preferred for dining room and event availability.
A nice small boutique restaurant that I want to see succeed under its new ownership. Upon arrival we were offered one of two dining areas - the main space (with its unique black and white silent movie screen) or a separate smaller space. I never understand why restaurants do this - there were two occupied tables in each space - put everyone in one room - you get much more buzz and energy and avoid the feel of a failing restaurant. There also needs to be a little effort put into the overall visuals.... a storage space with piles of stuff visible as you walk to the bathroom, a ceiling that needs help, conference room style chairs with cheap wedding style covers... Ambiance means a lot, and a little effort could really do wonders. Now to the food and service - a very french focused menu with a reasonable wine list, but not great and not enough quality local wines. We started with the stuffed mushrooms ($10) (above average), split a wedge salad ($12) (very good) and moved onto the lamb chops - very good ($38). For drinks, the Cosmo ($12) was well balanced, and the wine (Alexandria Nicole J Syrah: $62) paired well. Service was excellent until the very end when attention faded, which is why we skipped dessert.I hope this place survives and then thrives. Certainly worth a try when in Yakima.

Was looking for a local spot to have a nice breakfast and found Waffles Caffe. Of course I had to order a Waffle for my meal and I was not disappointed. You can get a traditional order, or find some combinations that make you full for hours!

We're visiting the US and it has been my dream to eat in a 'Happy Days' style diner since I was a little girl. This weekend we went to visit friends in Yakima and ended up in Mel's Diner for breakfast 2 days in a row (no coincidence!). Eating at Mel's made my childhood dream come true. The interior was stunning, the service outstanding and the owner, Fred, even came up to our booth to shake our hands and ask us how we're doing. The good was cooked to perfection, portions large enough to sure, and coffee poured freely. The waitresses were even wearing 50s uniforms. Anyone who's ever near Mel's Diner, make sure to go in and eat there. It's a very memorable experience.

We came here mid-week in September for breakfast. They weren't very busy at the time and we sat outdoors all by ourselves. There are lots of interesting things to look at while you wait, though we didn't wait long. Breakfast arrived quickly. We both had the White House Scramble which included ham, fruit and 'perfect toast' (good). The food was good but it was only scrambled eggs so I can't get ecstatic even if it was done well. This is definitely worth a visit at least once.

Visiting from out of town and family took us here for lunch. Not cemplace with outside tables and a large place inside. Good variety of sandwiches, burgers, appetizers and other items. Service was friendly and good.

Had the bacon burger. Done just the way I like it. Char Broiled with crispy edges. Very delicious. Fries were hot, but tasted like they had been precooked and then warmed up. Coffee was not so good. Island Girl Cocktail was fabulous. Server (Jason) was very good.

Showed up on a Friday about 8:00pm without reservations. Had to wait about half an hour, but they have a nice area for this and we enjoyed a glass of wine while doing so. Started with the bread plate which was well received. Cheeses, bread, olive oil & basalmic vinegar. It hit the spot. 3 out of 4 in the group ordered the prime rib, but they were out. All got the filets. They were cooked to order, and were pretty good but I like more of a char on a steak and wasnât that fond of the wood smoke flavor. The chimichurri sauce helped. The drinks, wine, and dessert were great. The thin cut fries were cold and worthless. Skip them for a baked potato. The service was pretty good. Will return when in town but might try one of their burgers or a French dip.
