After a couple of yearsâ wait, the old Walkers Cash Store has been restored handsomely as the St. Luke Co-Op. Austin the owner and his family have renovated the building inside and out, with hand-finished hardwood slab tables, a great rustic new bar, fresh paint, and an upgraded open general store area. Best of all is the serious barbecue equipment outside, which provides a great smoky aroma for all of us in the neighborhood ... and the best barbecue around. Our favorite is the brisket, but the chicken and pork are outstanding as well. Weâve had several sides, from the zippy collards to the beans. Excellent bbq sauce ... Buy the bbq by the pound and heâll throw in buns for you to make sandwiches at home. The Co-Op also serves great sandwiches and breakfast fare ... Austin features local artisans and artisans and their wares ... heâs selling a range of country items and food (we tried the coconut candies and chocolates this weekend, and the huge home-made cookies last weekend) ... and ice cream, along with a handful of additional basic items. Locals predominate for meals, but with time the Co-Op will attract tourists running up and down the beautiful Shenandoah Valley on Back Road. Austin, your neighbors thank you for bringing this classic old building back to life on Back Road!
The Garber's ice cream was tops...the flowers were pretty...corn hole...lots of places to sit outside. Only problem was poor parking area lighting. Sorry you had to close.

Nice quaint diner/restaurant. We stopped in for lunch on our way back from Luray Caverns. Inside it was all natural light and shade. The service was quick, courteous, and delightful. Dining was spacious and laid back. They had local coffee and all types of homemade cookies on display at the counter. For the meal I got a ribeye and to my delight it was done to perfection (medium). Usually a diner doesn't get that right ;) but I felt like ordering it anyway. The crabcake was not great but ok. My family got soups and chicken sandwiches which were generous. Everything was just perfect. The cookies were amazing. Try the grasshopper.

Candy's is a typical diner, stools, booths, and tables. Food is good and plentiful. They butter your pancakes for you, and offer a variety of syrups, including homemade which is good. Unless you are ravenous, order the single pancake- it's the size of the plate! I will order 2 if I plan on taking 1/2 my order home for dinner. Open 6am-2pm. Breakfast available all day. Also have daily lunch specials, just check out the board.

With everything from comfort foods to unique cuisines, caraMELized has something that is sure to satisfy your taste buds. Quality food and affordable prices. CaraMELize your palate.
We stopped into this establishment before checking into our hotel. What drew us to the establishment was their listing of "comfort food". My wife had an open roast beef sandwich while I opted for a serving of Mel's meatloaf. My wife was satisfied with her meal and I was satisfied with the meatloaf - nothing exceptional. The menu stated the side of mashed potatoes would be covered in gravy. Mine came naked. Dessert was a warm cinnamon roll. The waitress who FINALLY decided to serve us walked by and looked at us for at least five times. When she finally stopped to ask us if we had been helped, a good ten minutes had gone by and she remarked that it was a busy evening even though the dining area was only about 30% occupied.

We stopped for breakfast while driving south. The food was good, the service was terrible. Tiffany was our server. It took about 10 minutes before she came over. They were not busy. No apology or excuse for taking her time showing up. She did not smile once the whole time at us or any of her other tables. If this was a first time at a Cracker Barrel I might not go back again. I probably won't stop here again.

We were a large group (27 people), and had made a reservation weeks in advance. We arrived at 7pm, they pointed us to our table.... with room for 18 people. We had to ask other people to move so that we could all get seated (we later found out that the people we asked to move was one of the owners and his friends). It took until after 7:30pm for everyone to place their order, as we all had to stand in line to place our order at one of 2 registers. We then had to wait forever for the food to come out, with the last couple of orders finally arriving after 9:30pm! It was total chaos. You knew it was bad when people throughout the place (not just our group) were applauding when their food finally arrived. When I spoke to one of the owners, he explained that they just can't really handle such a large crowd all at once. I suggested that maybe they shouldn't take reservations for such large groups (or at least make it clear how long we would have to wait), and his response was "yeah.... we're not going to do that... people never mind waiting more than an hour for their food". WHAT?!?!? Did he really just say that?!?!? I was appalled by his indifference. Part of me wished he would have lied and told me he felt bad for us having to wait so long (but he didn't).The beer was very good, but you had to wait in the same line to get a beer as to order food, and few were willing to wait in line to get a second beer. The food was "good" (but check out the pic of how small the wings were), the beer was "very good", but the service and ownership is the model for how NOT to run a business. Stay away from this place, until they learn how to run a hospitality business.

Very nice setting inside a plant and flower shop, quiet atmosphere, friendly waiters and staff. Coffee is excellent and strong. Br always burrito tasty, oatmeal also and their cookies and scones smooth and delicious.

This restaurant spans back hundreds of years when this place was the frontier. Back then there was a spring in the house and people would come by for good water. People are still coming to the house and for good reason. Not only is this place charmingly local with a cool history, it serves up decent food as well. I went with the steak, which had a nice marinade giving a very nice flavor to the steak overall. The fries corn was very moreish, and could definitely see eating way too much of that. The service was good and the people were lovely â definitely recommend!

In business since 2005, the Woodstock Cafe has become one of the anchor tenants of this beautiful, Shenandoah Valley, historic town. Serving excellent coffee, panini sandwiches and bountiful salads, the Cafe also features one of the best retail wine selec
Returned to the Woodstock Cafe for dinner since it was purchased by new owners, Jose and Nikki. Dinner and service were amazing. Last visit was for Iunch which was outstanding, but last night dinner was superb. Delicious appetizer of calamari and mixed veggies. Fried to perfection. Table mates had scallops which were excellent, I had pork belly cooked to perfection. One of us even ordered sweet corn grits for a taste after dinner. Banana pudding and creamy corn Creme brûlée topped us off. Go as soon as you can!
