This small, charming restaurant is located within an historic building that was a stagecoach inn in the 1870s and a speakeasy during Prohibition. You instantly feel that ambiance when you enter. We sat near the fireplace. That lovely atmosphere is easily matched by excellent service from Patty and outstanding food at this chef-owned establishment. One of us had the cream of potato soup of the day (terrific!) and the other had the Caesar Salad (getting extra anchovies when Patty learned of fondness for them). The strip steak was cooked to perfection (accompanied by mushrooms, creamed spinach, and a baked potato). Equally outstanding was the pan-seared tilapia topped with feta, black olives, and roasted peppers served over sauteed spinach. Wine was good, though not great. We loved this place and will definitely return.

This is the quintessential New Jersey Deli. I believe it closes everyday by 2pm - but not because it lacks business. This is the place where blue collar and white collar workers rub elbows to enjoy a wonderful sandwich in a kind, unassuming atmosphere. Prices are what you'd expect for a good lunch sandwich - $7ish dollars. Maybe $10 if you splurge for a drink and side. You'll be able to find something for everyone - and because everything is made to order, they are happy to tailor the meal to your tastes and needs. I had a fried eggplant sandwich the last time that I was here that blew my mind. Cash only.

Late breakfast for six people with one gluten free and one vegan. Good variety of choices for all. Mainly tables for two, but after a wait we were taken care of and service was good.

The menu special on Wednesdays is a $10 Loaded Burger, so we decided to drop by BJ's for lunch. The wait staff has a good memory and recognized some in our group, which makes you feel welcome. The table collectively ordered four Loaded Burgers, two classic brisket burgers, and one each of the new menu offerings, a Bistro burger ("beef patty with applewood-smoked bacon, goat cheese crumbles, caramelized onions, tomatoes, spinach, pickled red onions and roasted garlic aioli on a toasted parker house bun") and a Mushroom Swiss Burger (beef patty with sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, red onions, lettuce, tomatoes and roasted garlic aioli on a parker house bun). Everyone seemed to like their burgers. Although presentation was good and it was tasty, I did have one complaint: when I first picked my burger up getting ready to take a big, a very large amount of grease drained out of it and made a pool on my plate. I suppose some of it could have been from the Swiss cheese, but certainly not all of it. I'm not sure how they are cooking them, but it was a big turnoff.Burgers are served with a generous portion of fries (I learned yesterday you get free refills), which were crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle and perfectly seasoned. I can't imagine getting a refill. Service was fairly good and reasonable quick and at $10, the Loaded Burger is a good value. I think next time I'll try the Bistro version.

I have been to The New Park Tavern three times now. The first was sort of a last minute decision as my regular watering hole had a power failure and the kitchen was closed. The last two tomes because I really like the food and atmosphere. A large round bar with 35-40 bar stools in the center with another 15 or so high top tables in the front area and a large low table seating are in the back room make for a larger place than I am used to. The menu is extensive, I have had the wings, a Calzone and the Genaro steak hoagie and they were all exceptionally good. The one concern on food was the buffalo chicken tenders, mushy with a ton of vinegar (READ CHEAP HEAT) and a small portion equals an unhappy experience. The next day, the wings were terrific, so fix the chicken tenders issue....Very personable staff, knowledgeable and friendly. Quick to offer suggestions and recommendations based on preferences, very helpful. My first couple of trips, I sat at the high tops and got a bill for food and beverages, when I sat at the bar, I had the bartender send a waitress over for the food order and received two bills. As this place has been around since the 1930's, I would think they could get this worked out...All in all, a very good experience with a few points that could be better, but a good enough experience and value that I keep going back.

I have been here for 30 years. New modernized diner now. This was my 5th diner this trip and is the best. Clean and great service. I had the Steak Cacciatore special. I assumed it would be a few pieces of steak but when it arrived it was a perfectly cooked strip. I loved it. My daughter tried to steal it. She had the traditional chicken cacciatore. It was excellent as well. My wife had a huge Waldorf salad, which she thought was very good. This is a top level NJ diner. I highly recommend it.

I purchased a "Groupon" for Martini Grill to try the place out. What a great purchase! We enjoyed great service, huge portions and an intimate dining area. Everything (including the whipped cream) was amazingly fresh. This may very well be my new favorite spot in Wood Ridge.

While others wine and dine their business relationships on steak and sushi, I bring them to Rutt's Hut. I tell them where we are going and what to expect and most people are excited to go to a local legend. The best part is that when I see them again, Rutt's Hut is almost always brought up. A steakhouse or other fancy restaurant is commonplace in the business world. Nothing is common about Rutt's Hut; quite possibly the best hot dogs on the planet!

Took me 56 years to get to Steve's...no joke...but I finally made it! It was worth the wait...and I won't wait as long next time. Perfectly cooked to order NY strip with very, very little fat and grizzle. Near perfection actually. My biggest issue was the mushrooms that were supposed to come with the steak and steak fries. My sister and I had both had three tiny mushrooms accompany our dinner. Why even bother?! Oh, I highly recommend the horseradish dijon salad dressing, too. Has a nice little kick to it. I reserved some thinking it would go great with the steak but that disappointed.
