The French Goat is a casual French style bistro located in the heart of historic Lewisburg. The restaurant offers a menu of classic French dishes with a twist, an eclectic and quality wine list, and handcrafted cocktails, all presented with the most graci
I was at a board meeting in July and we were lucky enough to have the entire restaurant to ourselves on a Tuesday night. The owner and his team could not have been more gracious. We started with drinks on the outside patio then moved inside for dinner. My husband raved about the Filet Mignon and I had halibut and risotto. Each course and item felt like it had prepared just for me. Everyone raved about the cheese cake. This restaurant was so tastefully decorated. Wish I lived closer so i could try it on a regular night. I think the only downside might be that the noise level would be high with a full restaurant. Thanks for the nice review Betsy! It was great to host your group and we are happy to hear that you enjoyed the evening. Come visit us when you are here for a pleasure trip.

I'm sure the manager than waited on us will remember me ... I was overwhelmed with the options. Silly, I know. I had tacos from Red Burrito and they were really good. More tex-mex and less Taco Bell-ish. 5 stars because the manager was patient and laughed :)

You've heard of bar food. Well, the Tree Tops Cafe overlooking the spectacular Outdoor Infinity Swimming Pool at the Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, is famous for its pool food. On a hot day in the mountains, the pool near the Golf Club is a favorite destination for kids. The entire family often camps out for a leisurely poolside picnic. The cafe offers casual full-table or lounge chair service with a view of the Allegheny Mountains. Adults and kids enjoy burgers, sandwiches, salads, ice cream, shakes and smoothies. Service, as you might expect, is impeccable. Waiters and waitresses continually stop by to make sure every need is taken care of.

We're staying nearby at a friend's house and we're hankering for a burger. We asked a local man where to go and he recommended this place. This did not disappoint. The cheeseburger was excellent and the fish and chips were some of the best that we've had--even in comparison with the UK!

We randomly saw the sign on the freeway headed eastbound. Now it will be a definite stop for our family. They serve breakfast all day. The dinners servings are plentiful and all taste delicious. Servers were warm and friendly. Sweet ladies that made sure you were alright. The waitress said âWe are all real quiet since we were all not talkingâ because we were stuffing our faces with their delicious food.If you left this establishment still hungry you did something wrong.

It's hard to beat the dinnertime view out of Sam Snead's - looking out over the immaculate golf course, the forested mountains in the background, a serene creek coursing through the middle of things, the sunset giving everything a soft glow. If you like golf and golf legends, this is a must-visit restaurant. We have never had a bad meal here, and this time was no exception. We appreciate that most of the vegetables are fresh from the Greenbrier's own farm - you can tell the difference. My risotto with fiddlehead ferns was outstanding; they were like asparagus but with a distinctly "foresty" overtone. Every meat dish we've tried has been cooked appropriately or to our taste, although I admit I've never had the nerve to tackle the largest steak offerings. Be sure to save some room for dessert. Our waiter was attentive, almost too much so - when I'm paying this much for a meal, I don't like to feel rushed. Couples who prefer a quieter, more intimate atmosphere may want to eat elsewhere, it can get loud with post-golf celebrations and large families. Although Sam Snead's is an easy walk from the hotel, there is a regular shuttle if you need it.

Whenever my wife and I visit the Greenbrier, the magnificent resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, we plan for five days because there is so much to do and so many good restaurants. For example, there are two restaurants located at the Golf Club that are named in honor of legendary golfer Sam Snead, who once served as the golf pro emeritus at the Greenbrier. Sam Snead's is a spiffy dinner restaurant while Slammin' Sammy's is the Greenbrier's rendition of a "Sports Bar." It overlooks the iconic Old White golf course, site of the PGA Tour's Greenbrier Classic, features several big screen TVs, billiard tables, shuffleboard, football and other games. It's a relaxed night spot to watch a sporting event or socialize with friends and enjoy a traditional cuisine like burgers, wings, salads, pizza and sandwiches with a huge beer selection. On our visit, we had a classic jumbo shrimp cocktail, cream of mushroom soup, a traditional Caesar salad, Cedar Plank Atlantic salmon roasted in a wood-burning oven with corn, cabbage and bacon and The Slammin' Sammy's Burger, an eight-ounce chuck of Angus beef, tomato, lettuce, Kosher pickle, aged Wisconsin cheddar cheese, bacon and onion jam on a toasted Brioche bun. With house-cut French fries. For dessert, we shared a big slice of fresh strawberry cake and Greenbrier owner and West Virginia governor Jim Justice's chocolate chip cookie sandwich with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge.

We spent the day visiting "The Greenbrier" for the primary reason of touring the Presidential Bunker. After a 20 minute wait, we were seated but saw no one for close to 10 minutes. The service was fine but brusque--definitely not five star--more diner! The food was actually good but nothing spectacular.

We have always loved this elegant dining room. If possible, ask to be seated in the far left area, up a step. It is surrounded by windows overlooking gardens (although in the morning, you may have sun in your eyes) and is removed from the hustle and bustle of the lower sections of the rooms. If you are having the breakfast buffet, it is a bit farther to walk, but you don't have people all around you. We ate from the menu for breakfast instead of the buffet. My husband was in love with his eggs benedict and corned beef hash the next day. I was more than pleased with my buckwheat pancakes and egg choices. The service was prompt and efficient; the passed breakfast breads were disappointing in their choices and quality. We celebrated our anniversary with dinner in this venue and were not disappointed. Please note men must wear a jacket and tie to dine here. (Many men missed the note about the tie; they have extras that they offer)We shared an endive/pear/walnut salad which was more than enough for two.I was very happy with my sea bass. My husband found his Dover Sole tasty, but was disappointed in the presentation. the Chocolate souffle was rich and creamy. The whole experience was marvelous; from the setting to the service to the food.

There were several belligerent/drunk/loud customers and the restaurant manager wouldnât tell them to shut up and go away so we did, as did people at other tables. Thatâs the reason for this particular TripAdvisor rating, otherwise would have been a 5. The hassle of dealing with the drunks gets a 1 rating but the food and waitstaff get a top rating; so average overall. The meals are VERY expensive but absolutely phenomenal food taste; Wagyu beef was terrific. Reservations required. The wait-staff and table service were top notch. Not for kids. Avoid the cheesecake...too dense and I'm a cheesecake eater.
