If you have not eaten fried chicken at Annbriar you are missing the most amazing fried chicken ever. Fried chicken is my favorite food and I often order it at a lot of different restaurants but I am always extremely disappointed because no place comes close the the chicken at Annbriar. You should make the trip out to Annbriar and give it a try.Thank you so much for the great review, James! We are thrilled to hear that you enjoy our fried chicken so much! We hope to see you many more times!

Hadn't been in several months or maybe a year but was ready to enjoy the outdoor patio and fair late spring weather tonight. In past, food was very inconsistent. One evening fabulous and the next visit mediocre. Tonight was mediocre, sadly and the staff was also young and untrained. Our waitress was very pushy to get our order even after we told her we were in no hurry. We finally order and she returned three times to correct and finalize our choices...Fried calamari was only a massive serving of fried breading. I counted and and only 8 pieces actually had squid inside the thick breading. That breading was tasteless. I tried a cup of their gumbo...huge mistake. It was black and the taste was way off from any gumbo I'd ever ate. . Our plates arrived quite a while later and my order of fish tacos looked far from appetizing and far from what I'd received in the past. Two soft shell tortillas, 4 pieces of white meat fish that was so salty I couldn't even taste the fish, a tiny cup of fresh salsa that didn't have enough in it for one taco let alone too. And that was it. No greens. No nothing. Just a couple diced tomato pieces, salty fish and soft shells. My side order of carrots had burned so the glaze had a black layer of Carmel and tasted scorched. My fries came after we got our food. They too were just plain old fries, no seasoning, and fried too long as they were brown and hard. By the end of the meal our waitress was no longer coming by our table so we had no refills and took forever to get our bill paid.

We tried this place trice. Both times were a disappointment. Fried chicken was dry and tough. The potatoes tasted instant and the gravy lacked flavor. Meatloaf was dry.Second visit, the chicken and dumplings tasted like the canned variety in the store. I honestly forget my spouses order the second visit, but I know he said âthatâs it, Iâm not coming backâ.The bakery items are good but pricey. Better deals at Ahnes bakery in town.

They serve good cold beer and the food is above average for a Sports Bar. Fast service and friendly. The hamburgers are very good.

Looking for a great place, I started to feel like I was at Cheers, where everybody knows your name. Pat (Patrick) was work8ng the bar and did an excellent job of making everyone feel welcome. Great place where the Waterloo locals hang out, but definitely a place I would recommend for anybody to stop in. I didnât eat there, but from the crowd who were gathering to eat was a pretty good indicator to the TravelGuy this was at a minimum, a great Friday evening place to eat. I certainly felt welcome and would recommend to anyone headed that direction.

Getting together with the family in Waterloo, Illinois, I was trusting everyone for a great place for dinner and they didnât disappoint with the recommendation for Hopskeller. They have a full bar with a variety of taps, and they offer pizza and salads. They have indoor seating as well as seating on the patio and the environment was fantastic. Even though itâs been many years since I have lived in Waterloo, I felt like I was at Cheers before the evening was done. The pizzas were great and while we didnât do the salads, they looked mighty fine. Based on the experience, the TravelGuy recommends the Hopskeller, especially on Friday night for the brewski specials.

Located in historic downtown Waterloo, Illinois, and just minutes from the metro St. Louis area, Gallagher's has been serving the best fried chicken, house-ground burgers and premium steaks for over a decade.
We had dinner here on a Saturday. The wait was expected to be 30-45 minutes, but we were seated very quickly. This is the fancy place in town, and the owners have done an excellent job preserving and decorating a historic building. We both had some variation of their famous fried chicken, which we enjoyed, but we felt our fried green tomato appetizer was too salty. My wife's glass of wine was a generous pour. We thought the prices were very reasonable.
