Reviews on American food in Vallejo, California, United States. Vallejo (/vəˈleɪ(h)oʊ/ və-LAY-(h)oh; Spanish: [baˈʎexo]) is a waterfront city in Solano County, California, located in the North Bay sub-region of the San Francisco Bay Area. Vallejo is geographically the closest North Bay city to the inner East Bay, so it is sometimes mistakenly associated with that region. The population was 115,942 at the 2010 census. It is the tenth most populous city in the San Francisco Bay Area, and the largest in Solano County. Vallejo sits on the northeastern shore of San Pablo Bay, 30 miles north of San Francisco, the northwestern shore of the Carquinez Strait and the southern end of the Napa River, 15 miles south of Napa. The city is named after General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, a native Californio, leading proponent of California's statehood, and one of the first members of the California State Senate; the neighboring city of Benicia is named for his wife, Francisca Benicia Carrillo de Vallejo.

Mike had not seen Max in ten and a half years, so it was delightful to meet up and enjoy a nice dinner at The Front Room at the Wharf in Vallejo, where Max grew up.

A general's prized mare and a shipwreck. A naval shipyard founded in 1854. Forty thousand welders, torpedo makers, radiomen and Rosie the Riveters securing our freedom through a Civil, a Cold, and two World Wars. Two winemakers now toiling to handcraft be
we fell into this joint based on my pal's love of the coffee served at the other establishment in the ferry building. they have a full range of beers & ales brewed on mare island just across the river. we enjoyed our lunch and plan to go back.one very cool thing is the beer table menu, which is a small booklet between aluminum boards that gives the titles of brews named after persons or events associated with the navy or the island. each page is very interesting and often amusing, giving some of the history of this much-overlooked but famous naval base built in the 20s & 30s.i go there when i feel like a 'treat' lunch - something a little more expensive than the norm, something conceived and prepared with the idea of 'luncheon' rather than fast food...

It's been 2 years since I last reviewed this place, and my opinion stays the same. We have been here literally dozens and dozens of times in the past 2 years, and they never ever disappoint. Dogs are perfect...buns are perfect...and ingredients are fresh. If you are looking for a great dog, look no further.

We usually go to our favorite for breakfast, downtown Vallejo, but decided to try out a new place. Pretty average food...omelet with link sausage was fair, and potatoes were bland. Wife's eggs were very good (over medium), but her bacon was very greasy. Then came the bread. Wondered why the waitress did not ask what type of toast we wanted...there is only one bread. I do not know what it was, but it does not go well with eggs. Good service however.

This Black Bear Diner has taken the idea of a family restaurant and really kicked it up a notch. The menu is filled with tasty selections that will appease even the finickiest of eaters, not to mention the best desserts around. We pride ourselves in deliv
This was our 3rd Black Bear...and again it was great. Big hearty portions. We ordered 2 steaks, both came well done as well as the sides. Restrooms appropriate and clean even though we stepped in 30 mins before closure time. Service EXCELLENT as always. Desert: a great cherry pie.

First challenge: finding the driveway to get into the parking lot (we overshot it and had to make a strange u-turn that was probably totally legal). Big, comfort-food menu with gluten-free options, substantial portions, friendly staff, but what I ordered was not what I got. I didn't want to fuss (nor will I call out the server who was super sweet but was confused what I wanted). I ended up with a veggie omelet, which is okay. What I wanted was a veggie benedict with scrambled instead of poached eggs. What is the difference? 6000 calories worth of Hollandaise sauce. Refills on drinks came quickly and with a smile. It's a nice location.

Michael & Ali Warring earned a 4-1/2 in my book, but review websites don't offer that option. Why 4-1/2? A 5 has meaning if it is given only to, say, the best 10 restaurants in the world.Michael's imagination and skill are outstanding, as are Ali's efficiency and friendliness. The clean simplicity of their venue's design and its rural scenery allow guests to focus on Michael's prep and his & Ali's plating performance -- for that is what it is, and it IS fun.We found the timing excellent, the courses uniquely tasty and in perfect portions, the platings visually colorful, balanced, and intriguing, and the overall dinner completely satisfying & enjoyable. Wine pairings were well-selected, and Ali simply but fully explained each dish and each pairing. You MUST make a reservation: there are only 19 seats between the bar and the one larger and several small tables -- and those are carefully programmed to accomodate the slightly over-lapping 6pm and 7:30pm seatings! You can ONLY reserve by telephone, and only between 10am - 4pm Wednesday thru Sunday. We look forward to our future visits to Michael & Ali. It's a pleasure to enjoy their "table."

We drove to Vallejo to see a performance at the art deco Empress Theater. Found Gracie's was nearby and had good reviews. We both ordered the BBQ/smoked chicken piece platters which came with cornbread and 2 sides. The coleslaw was fresh, had cranberries in it and also fresh apples - not your standard soupy mayonnaise drippy dressing. There is honey on the table to drench your delicious cornbread. The chicken were all large, substantial pieces. Not a skinny drumstick or thigh. These were meaty pieces! The smoked chicken was delicious on its own and only further enhanced by the flavorful BBQ sauce. What a great find! The wait staff were also very nice, smiling and welcoming. A steady stream of customers - for good reason.

Napoli Pizzeria is Vallejo's local favorite. Whether you come from the Vallejo Ferry, live downtown or near the waterfront, Napoli Pizzeria will meet your Italian food cravings. Our menu serves up award-winning, hand-tossed pizzas cooked in well-seasoned
Plenty of off-street free parking, great service by Gina who kept the food and refills coming, tvs if you wanted to catch the NFL, an open kitchen to watch the pizzas being made, and a constant flow of customers who know each other and the kitchen staff. The one drawback was the super garlicky dresssing for the Caesar salad, but at least I'm safe from vampires for life. Good alfredo sauce: not too rich like some places, just right flavors and just the right amount. Gluten free crust is an option as well.
