Things to do in Spruce Pine
No, it isn't fancy, but they have some quite yummy food!I sampled the "double cheeseburger" in the "sub" fashion. My wife had some other form of burger. Had mine with onion rings & she had hers with battered french fries. You might ask: "How can you screw up a burger & fries?" I'd say - it seems impossible, but a LOT of places do! KB's? Nope! They've got it right! Burgers are juicy and more than ample. The fries (whether battered or plain) are quite excellent, and the onion rings are good & tasty. Will certainly go back to order such things as their sandwich of beef tips, gravy, onions, & bell pepper or, well, most everything looked or sounded pretty yummy. Was a very happy camper & at the same time glad I didn't try the "suicide sub" that has 4 burger patties & cheese & goodness knows what else on there. Yikes! :)p.s.: My overall rating is 4 stars. That isn't on an international level, but rather for a small, local "Mom & Pop" kind of place. In other words? Perhaps not "world class cuisine," but if someone asks me where to eat - I don't think they could go wrong at KB's.p.p.s.: I NEED to try their BBQ - it is RIGHT in their name, and quite a few folks have told me it is awesome.
In a small Appalachian town there aren't many options for decent food. This place was welcome in that it was close to the Lemon Tree motel is locally owned and operated and was clean, with good service and a clean looking kitchen. We had a conventional breakfast with bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy and coffee which unfortunately tasted like most cage coffee. The place is typical small town in décor and setting otherwise. Our food was well prepared and tasty except that the sausage did not taste like sausage in that it did not have the usual sage flavoring most sausage has.The menu was sort of typical for a small town café except they had specials that sounded more like a home cooked meal. Interestingly, there was a dish called "livermush" on the menu which a local at the café told me was a blend of hog's brain and liver with seasonings. Wikipedia noted that this is a regional dish from that part of NC.I would advise this place if you are travelling the Blue Ridge Parkway.

No. 3 Grill is a friendly, everyday restaurant highlighting American dishes made from scratch. We pride ourselves on welcoming guests in a comfortable atmosphere and have set high standards for exceptional hospitality and food. We also have gluten free, a
Spruce Pine suffers from a lack of restaurants from which to select, especially any that offer more than a crowded, noisy atmosphere. While No. 3 couldnât be considered upscale, itâs off the beaten path, not noisy, and has gorgeous views of the golf course. The menu is âall-American,â featuring salads, soup, sandwiches, burgers, and a limited number of ârealâ plated meals (meat or fish with veggies). Nothing is of the gourmet variety, but all is fresh and tasty.I especially enjoyed the BLT Caesar salad and can highly recommend the âCordon Bleu Ridgeâ sandwich.Prices are definitely affordable. Service was a bit sub-par, but it is improving.Thank you for you review! We aim for fresh affordable food. Often those are not in the same sentence, so to achieve that proves that everyone can enjoy just good food. We are continuing our training on service, and we appreciate the noticeable improvement we have made. We look forward to seeing you again. Sincerely, Jenna Barker

Steak and Buffet Restaurant
Fox "News" all over the TVs, buffet was not great. Nice people/service though, otherwise 1 star. Will not be visiting again. We would be more than happy to change the tv channel to help accommodate your political views. Very sorry this affects the taste of your food.

Seasonal restaurant located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. Offering lunch 7 days a week. Quiches, soups, sandwiches and specializing in smoked pork BBQ, Salmon and Trout. Open Easter through October.
Marsha Hoff is an outstanding massage therapist... very personable, professional, and through. I would highly recommend. The Switzerland Inn resort here in the town of Little Switzerland has many amenities. One if which is a spa. Not affiliated with the Switzerland Cafe & General Store, downtown.

My hotel owner recommended this place (though frankly there is very little indeed nearby). It turned out the be an absolute gem. The just-after-sunset mountain view from the outdoor dining area was spectacular and the food matched. After the complimentary crackers and soft cheese, I tried to order the fresh trout but they didnât have any so my second choice was the roast duck. It was very good - crispy orange-glazed skin but not overcooked. My choice of side were the cheese and jalapeño grits and fresh veg (shredded sprouts). Both were pretty amazing. With a small IPA (they have a decent wine list too), it came to around $30. My only slight annoyance was that the beer was in a plastic glass. You have to try this place if it fits with your travel plans.

We went to Hefâs for dinner while visiting the area. The atmosphere is nice and has TVs to watch the game. They could use another waitress however it seemed that they were training one so this may not be the case all the time. The food was good however I was expecting the chili to have a thicker base, it was more broth like. The flavor was good just different than expected.

We stopped in a while back when the place we were headed to was unexpectedly closed. But the good news is we ate very well at a fraction of what we would have dropped elsewhere. My foot long dog and fries were excellent. They have burgers, reubens, etc. and lots of beer. It was a chilly night and they had the fireplace going. A nice time was had by all.

Casual to Semi-formal inside and outside seating. serving a wide variety of mouth watering entrees, with a friendly and family atmosphere.
We have visited this restaurant several times because of the view and humming birds. We arrived at 5:30 pm on Thursday. I was upfront and told her we were expecting a third person who planned to meet us at 6:15. She had me wait while she asked if we could be seated. We were told we would have to wait until the other showed up. I told her we would wait and to take note. 45 minutes later we walked in with our party. Another couple walked in at the same time. "We have a reservation for 7pm but the other couple is not here, Can we be seated?" Waitress response, "Well, yes." We did not have reservations; did not know reservations could be made. Certainly, she could have made one knowing we would wait an hour! She commented that others who had reservations will be coming but, reluctantly, she seated us. If we had not had a guest, I would have walked away. Our guest runs a local business and was glad to know about this place. But, that's not all. We told our son and his wife about this place. When we arrived home, they told us they did go to Mountain View and would NEVER go back. They were told it would be an hour before they could be seated. My son said they would wait. (Sound familiar?) She repeated there would be a long wait several times...like we really don't need you. They walked away. The least both of us expected was kindness ad even the offer of a glass of water while we waited! Beef tips were the special with or without peppers and onions. The tips were tough and no flavor. I won't go back because of the disrespect.Thank you for your review, it is pretty common practice at most restaurants that you will not be seated until all parties are there and ready to be sat, I have taken reservations for 6+ years now and it's posted on our website and TripAdvisor that this is our pratice. My entire restaurant seats 44 people and in peak season I do 500-600 covers daily and sometimes especially during peak months and holiday weekends the waits can be over an hour if you are just walking in, would it be a better practice to lie to people and tell them it will be 5-10min waits and then let them get angry 30 min later? Also I eat out very often in many styles of restaurants and not in a single one have I ever been offered refreshment of any kind while I waited on a table?I apologize you didn't enjoy the tips I wish you had brought this up during your visit with me or one of my managers I would have gladly Cooked you anything else or at least comped them.

Found high up on the Blue Ridge of the Appalachian Mountains, "The Tropical Grill" is here to give you an unexpected dining experience. As you exit off the Blue Ridge Parkway at Spruce Pine, NC, go to "Upper Street" in downtown Spruce Pine, across from th
There are a LOT of Columbian and Caribbean restaurants where we live so we are very familiar with the dishes served here. That said, we were mostly unimpressed â with one exception: The tomatillo salsa is to die for. Everything else (empanadas, asada colombiana, tropi chopi pork) just average. Dear Skytraveler,I thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant and for your appreciation for our dining room salsa. I am sorry to inform you though there are no tomatillos in the salsa. Every loves it and would love to have the recipe. I want you and our readers to understand that the three items you are reviewing are our most popular and most ordered items on our menu. As I respect your opinion of these items, I also respect the hundreds of positive reviews of the same items we have received over the course of years. Thank you again.
