What a sweet little place for breakfast....loved, loved, loved the chiliquiles! Also loved the loaf of fresh bread presented as you get ready to order. What a treat in Mexico! Great beans...the people and service here was so good. Really made our day. And fast free WiFi! They do a hamburger night on Thursday and Friday that sounds amazing. Very tiny place but parking was easy...check it out!

In a city with so many English-speaking people, the menu, replete with laughable translations into English, should have warned us off. It may be a great place for breakfast, but our dinners were pretty awful. Exhibit A: my wife's chicken marsala, which came buried under a WHITE sauce of dubious provenance. Her vegetables were canned or frozen; she hated her dinner. Three of us had salads, which were fine if unremarkable. Exhibit B: our friend ordered a lemon pie, got a lemon cheesecake. My 'homemade' apple pie was not homemade nor pie, but it was made of apple and came with ice cream. Our wines were pretty dreadful, yet in other SMA restos, we were served wonderful wines, even of Mexican origin. The ambience was quirky - our table was built for 5 diners? We couldn't find a table for 4. And despite the name, there is nothing French on the menu, not even a baguette. Service was attentive; they wanted to please. But they kept bringing the wrong plates, committing other bush-league mistakes that required undoing.Of all our dinners out in SMA, this was our only bad one.

La Mansion de Montitlan is located in a private home, sitting on the side of a mountain, with views of downtown and the countryside, it is one of the best kept secrets of San Miguel having never advertised. The outstanding Southern Fried Chicken is offere
It's only open for lunch. It's only open on Sunday. You probably won't find anything like local cuisine on the very limited menu, which is emailed to you ahead of time for your choice. [Only in our case it wasn't]. Instead, you'll find yourself dining on Southern Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes [a regular item], or Chicken Tikka Masala, or Beef Bourguignon. You'll be seated on the terrace of a large private home, high on a hill, overlooking San Miguel. Your fellow diners most likely will be expatriates who seem to make the lunch there a Sunday tradition, and who dress up for the occasion, as well as more adventurous tourists. [But the place seems to belong to those expats!] The view is lovely, the home has elegance, and the food is quite good, if not adventurous. But you'd go for the total out of the ordinary experience. It's certainly a pleasant way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon, although the experience will have little to do with being in the middle of Mexico.

We really loved stopping at La Burger for lunch on the first day of our trip to San Miguel! The restaurant is located a few miles outside of the city, and it is a very picturesque spot. There is a large outdoor area, which reminded me very much of outdoor restaurants in Santorini. We very much enjoyed sitting outside in the beautiful setting and enjoying the day. The food was also amazing! The burgers were among the best I have ever eaten, the side salad was delicious, and the fries were so good that I ate way more than I should have.

Hank's is the new name of the famous Harry's Restaurant with 12 years of history in Mexico, since 1999 in San Miguel Allende and since 2004 in Queretaro. Hank's is a bit of Louisiana and its "French Quarter", which offers the traditional Cajun cuisine fro
There is something a little bit Casablanca about this place. We hesitated to try it because why come to San Miguel de Allende for New Orleans style food, but the reality is Hankâs is a world within a world and very much of the place where it sits. We had a window seat, watching the parade of locals and visitors stroll the street. Servers were attentive without being overbearing. So, the perfect amount of attention. Cocktails were as good as it gets. Dinner comes with a bottle of wine. In the heat it seems you burn alcohol quicker. So we were not done in by drinking more than usual. The food was superb. I rarely have a chance to taste sweetbreads as I never see them on menus where we roam, so gave them a chance. Truly delicious. Overall, this restaurant hits every note. Any time we return to SMA, we will go back. It is that wonderful.Thank you for visiting us! It's been a pleasure to serve you. Hope to see you soon back.

This is a real juicy burger and they cook to order--I like mine medium rare and this was perfectly grilled--not too well done and not too rare. The french fries and burger condiments are good too.

We've read about Cafe Oso Azul's almost perfect review here on Tripadvisor. So we decided to give it a try for breakfast. The place is a 5-minute walk from our hotel in central San Miguel de Allende. We were not disappointed. We enjoyed the yummy food, the friendly and lovely atmosphere with a lady playing guitar and serenading customers in an outdoor courtyard. The service is impeccable. Highly recommended!

What to do and see in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico: The Best Places and Tips

Marsala is a restaurant by the well known Mexican chef Marcela Bolano. It not only offers one of the best food available in Mexico but a mezcal bar with the best brands in the country.
In San Miguel de Allende for a long weekend, a friend and I enjoyed a leisurely Sunday brunch at Marsala. In a word, OMG! Here's what was terrific: everything. From the first spoonful of house-made Greek yoghurt (drizzled with honey, topped with fresh mango, fresh pineapple, fresh kiwi and fresh strawberries), the first bite of house-made pork terrine on house-made dark bread with plum conserve, and a blueberry scone direct from heaven, we moved on to our meal's centerpiece: Marsala's take on eggs Benedict.I've eaten a lot of eggs Benedict in my life, but these were a step beyond. On a base of brioche-turned-French-toast (with a just-right drizzle of maple syrup) perched two perfectly poached eggs. Atop the eggs, smoky bacon strips. The crowning glory, really marvelous lemony hollandaise. This dish was so extraordinarily wonderful that I was tempted to lick the plate, but restrained myself. We finished by sharing a slice of the restaurant's secret-recipe carrot cake: not gloppy with cream cheese, not sticky-sweet, the cake and its frosting were just exactly right. Ah, and the mimosas: freshly squeezed orange juice and bubbly, a generous glass was just the ticket to accompany the rest of our meal. Maybe it was two glasses, but who's counting? The chef and her front-of-the-house partner were as delicious as our brunch. Our service was impeccable. I wanna go back!Go. Just go. Be sure to make a reservation, the place was packed on our sun-dappled Sunday. Marsala is a do-not-miss in San Miguel de Allende.
