Set in an original 1950s Silk City dining car, it screams classic diner: crimped stainless-steel facade, Formica counter with stools, pink-and-blue neon sign, specials scrawled on chalkboards. Simple — you can get two eggs and a cup of Coffee. Not so simple — a bahn mi sandwich, Bulletproof coffee, CBD-infused Kombucha, artisanal hot sauce, a macrobiotic bowl with seaweed and brown rice, kimchi and a $16 burger made from “grass-fed and grass-finished” beef sourced from Herondale Farm, about 14 miles up the road.Folks drive from miles around and we waited half an hour.Worth it?Once maybe.

Salads (home grown tomato caprese) were spot on, pork chop good, bok choy side waste of plate space, salmon a hit. Rib Eye w. demi glace average. Salads took 30 minutes in an empty place.Attitudes: 1) Upon arrival, hostess acted concerned as we had no reservation. 3 two tops in use at 5:45 on Labor Day evening. Affectation - place was empty. (Two previous attempted VM reservations, which we subsequently cancelled, went unconfirmed) 2) A fan of sauce, I asked for extra demi glace. Chef sent back word via waitress: $5.00 surcharge. Wrong message of hospitality when spending $175 for three. Demi glace was a big, dull miss anyway. 3) During salads, waitress poured a big pitcher of water from porch up behind us into a planter on our level - assumed herbs or something. Looking into it on way to restroom, discovered it was a pool of water swimming with cigarette butts. As it was in front of kitchen door, not main door, assume it was for staff.Left with feeling this place had a conceit it's product can't support.

I stopped in at 52 Main Street last week while in town. I haven't been in this building since it was a pharmacy in the 80's. What a great place. I had a couple of beers and some food at the bar and watched some sports on the TV. I'll stop in again the next time I'm in town.

Music mountain offers a combination dinner and performance for $70. Absolutely, absolutely pass up. They tell you to be at dinner at five and the performance was at 6:30. The restaurant is incapable of serving you dinner and getting you out on time even after complaining the waitress. After gobbling down very mediocre food of a salad, piece of fish or chicken we were unable to get dessert or our check. When I complained to the owner who was behind the bar she chastised me for complaining in front of a customer . A mad drive to Music Mountain, we arrived at 6;30 and had terrible seats and left at intermission.

What a little gem of a place! We have eaten here before and will always return. From the wonderful service, charming graphics on the walls to the creative menu (and delicious food) this is our favorite lunch spot in Connecticut. We loved the turkey sandwich and Caprese salad--highly recommend. And on your way out, don't forget to pass by the cookies, scones, and brownies on display. My peanut butter cookie was one of the best I've ever tasted. We love Mountainside!!

We have been going to Morgans for a long time. There are new chefs there. We requested a special favorite prior to arrival and they gladly prepared it. It was outstanding as usual and for dessert there was molten chocolate. A very thin shell filled with warm chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Fabulous! The next night we both had the grilled pork chop corn & bacon pudding, braised greens, peach gastrique. It was cooked perfectly. A generous portion. Again another great meal. We've gone to many of the restaurants nearby. Most are about the same price, but the quality was not as good. They now offer lunch again. One of the best BLTs I've ever had.

I wanted to go lightly on this place due to its relative remoteness, but then remembered that I had encountered exceptional restaurants in some of the most unpretentious locations. So, on the upside, the owners definitely put in a lot of effort to create a cozy, nautical-themed atmosphere, and we liked the interior. The staff was also very attentive, fast and knowledgeable about the menu. But... You come to restaurants to EAT, in the end, so food is even more important - and this is where you get disappointed: both the presentation and the preparation do not inspire any particular emotions and most definitely do not justify the price tag. By the feel of it, a lot of ingredients are kept frozen (which is natural, I guess, considering the foot traffic is limited), although the owners do claim they source most of ingredients locally. The menu looks quite eclectic (not to use the word "strange"): anything from steaks to escargots to sushi to deep-fired turtle. I don't know what to make of this, so let's leave it at "neutral". Again - I guess, we could give it a slack given that there are not many restaurants in the area, and so they are probably just trying to tend to a wider audience. But the end result just doesn't cut it. Good selection of local brews, though.

Excellent for lunch!! We used the General Tso Cauliflower as an appetizer for three. What an innovative and delicious use of the flavors, and the cauliflower was perfectly done. Arugula salad was plentiful, tasty and made exactly as ordered. Fish and chips was enormous, expertly battered and cooked. Spring rolls were just what we wanted. Can't say enough good things about this place, from the tasteful decor to the music to the food.

An outstanding place in rural Connecticut. Charming room, excellent food. Loved the menu and the thoughtfully chosen and extensive wine list. Everything the four of us had was excellent. The burrata and beet salad was particularly good. The Huet vouvray sec was terrific and very fairly priced at $57. Service was professional, efficient and very friendly. Be sure to make a reservation, because the word is out about this superb dining spot.
